Would that then be defined as an opportunity?
anyway .....
'hold if fundamentals are still good' got different meanings one leh...
some hold the stock... cos they feel the stock is worth more.....

on the other hand...
some could have bought the stock at the wrong price....
and because they bought at a high price...
they feel they are compelled to hold the stock...
since they feel 'fundamentally the company is still good'.....
so they hold and hope their 'investment' recover.

How do we know if a company fundamental is not good anymore and we shouldn't hold it any longer? What are the ratio/paramenters that we should look at? ROE? Free cash flow?

What makes a great company?

A well known company?

or some might call it a fundamentally strong company?

Well, a fundamentally strong company, could be a company having a strong balance sheet and a big sales turnover....

but is that a great company if the management/owner is conservative?

ie the company only desires to maintain sales/profit only?

or do you want a company whose management strives to make more and more money each year?

difficult to understand?

well, how about if you are a job seeker...

of course, getting a good salary is the goal but if 5 companies offers you the same salary, what is the other factor that helps you decided which company to work for?

do you want to work in a conservative company (with limited growth)?

or do you want to work in a company who strives to grow more each year?

One very smart investor used to say 'growth is an integral part of value'....

Boon gor, I have a different view, although I agree with your explanation.

It depends on what the investor preference. If I going for a growth stock, of course growth rate will be important. A steady growth in sales and net income with good cashflow will be my pick.

If I going for dividend stock, even though the stock has slow growth in sales and net income, as long as the cashflow is healthy and able to pay debt interest and dividend from the money they earn every year, I think is still a good stock. Because what we want is just the dividend.

Of course if we can get a stock that give good stable dividend yield and growth will be perfect rclxms.gif

Just my humble opinion.
