Hi, got the VN7-591G-744N recently and thinking of tossing in an SSD to work alongside the included SSHD. Can that be done on this model and has anyone successfully done that and also cloned the SSHD contents onto the new SSD, to preserve license, content etc? Plan to use the SSD for OS & programs, SSHD for other data. Might up the RAM to 16GB also for virtual machines.

P.S. Will the warranty be void?

That clarifies things a lot. Thanks. I was aware of it being done on models sold in other countries and the 17 inch, but wasn't sure if the same internals & techniques also applied to the ones manufactured for the Malaysian market.

Hey, the palm rest area on the right side gets uncomfortably warm. Is this normal under just normal usage? Web browsing only? Even in an air-conditioned room.

Previously when im using V Nitro i also encounter this. But it does not happen regularly, sometimes only. I think its because of the Hard Drive warms up. nod.gif
*
Mine has been happening all the time. Currently using an external display and wireless keyboard so not rally affecting but those times when I check or have to use it on the go, it feels quite warm. For its price point, its quite unacceptable, if you ask me and I'm seriously considering having it sent back for warranty claims. Current CPU temp according to Intel Tuning Utility fluctuates between 51 - 52 degrees. Was using a Vaio before this and that device was always super cool (aluminum shell) no matter how hard I pushed it.

hmm...just realised it is only a minor improvement to gtx860 in terms of graphic quality...
im a noob here... gtx 860 or gtx 960 makes no difference to the heat of the laptop right?
*
To my knowledge, its only a minor improvement, performance wise and so far, makes no difference towards heating. PM me if you are interested in picking up the i7-4720HQ with GTX860M. smile.gif

51'C-52'C is quite normal for V Nitro bro. nod.gif
*
Yeah, I know its quite normal and perfectly fine with that. Just the slight warmth under the fight side palm-rest area. Apparently, its where the hard disk resides.

Do you guys use the laptop while charging? I mostly play games while charging but will i damage the battery? I scare it expand lol because without charging, I feel its so laggy
*
Nah... Mine is like plugged in all the time. Of course, I did a few battery full charges and depletion to properly calibrate its readings. Once stable, hovering the mouse over the power icon, you'll notice "**% available (plugged in, not charging)".

QUOTE(zuhaili87 @ Jun 12 2015, 05:51 PM)
Ya bro, like i said earlier, maybe cuz of the hard drive cuz hard drive temperature in V Nitro quite high apparently. Mine previously around 40'ish Celcius. So i guess thats the reason the palm area gets warm a lil bit. Bad cooling design i suppose. nod.gif
*
Silly. Might have to go the SSD route sooner than planned.

i finally got myself a V Nitro. I noticed the screen is rather yellowish/greenish. Is it normal or do I have to do colour calibration? anyone mind sharing your calibration settings?
*
Hmmm, Mine isn't and so shouldn't be normal. So try to update graphics drivers and system updates and see if it improves.

updated all drivers, dun seem to improve.
but after i recalibrated, it is more bearable now.
warranty does cover the monitor? no?
*
Yup... Definitely falls under warranty as long as you can prove it to them when dropping it off and also, no hardware modifications have been done on the laptop.

My laptop doesnt have the not charging notifications when battery is above 90(even at 100%) ..is this normal?
*
Did you recently just start using it? Cuz mine started off the same but after a few full charges and discharges. It sort of calibrated? Now it just sits on "96% available (plugged in, not charging)". So try that if u already haven't.

Hey all. Dropped by to inform that you can do a clean install of Windows 10 and still retain the genuine activation. Helped me get rid of all the bloatware.
1. Upgrade as normal from windows 8.1
2. Completely boot into windows 10, run windows update to be further sure that Microsoft servers recognize your Windows 10 license/upgrade.
3. Download the media creation tool from here (64-Bit Version).
4. Create an bootable installation media using a flash drive with at least 4GB. It will be formatted.
5. During install select the same Windows edition as 8.1. In my case, Windows 10 Home 64-Bit with English language.
The rest is easy peasy.

I'm also in the market for a decent one, so do post here if you finally get one and review so I consider... Mine's mostly on a table hooked up to an external display with Keyboard n mouse combo. So for now, 4 bottle-caps positioned under the laptop promotes airflow... biggrin.gif

just wondering anyone suffering from bad wifi connection?
my v nitro comes with the atheros wifi chip.
I wanna ask can i possibly change the wifi chip to intel?
*
Hmm... I don't have any issues with my wifi connection using stock TM Unifi router and one room away..divided by a wall. Sure you might be able to swap the hardware at the cost of voiding warranty. Why not try other routers first to rule out that the issue isn't from that particular router, before seeking other options.

Hi, what sort of issues are you facing? Also I'm running a fresh install of windows 10 on an Acer Aspire V15 Nitro VN7-591G-744N and up until a few days ago, I started experiencing WiFi connection issues with the stock TM router. There are 6 other devices (mixture of android n apple products) connected to the same router and all work flawlessly except this laptop. The issue is that, it sorts of stops seeing internet connection despite still being connected to the router, but once i manually disconnect and reconnect, full internet access is restored. Thought of upgrading the router to a much better one but since other devices work, I'm worried its the WiFi drivers or hardware in the Acer that's faulty. Help?

well i bought the exact same cooler as shadow ..the cooler master u3 plus.. i have no issue with it so far such as laptop slipping etc.. the fan provides a bit of air circulation(you can feel it) but its not very strong.. but the design is superb and the material used for me is superb as well.

do bear in mind i use my laptop more like a desktop though(on a table mostly) so that might be the reason it is not slipping..

for me i think its a good buy smile.gif

Happy shopping for your new cooler  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif
*
Thanks for the review. i mainly use mine as a desktop as well. Its plugged in like 99% of the time. If it was human and AC was its food, it'd have exploded n died from too much food & lack of exercises by now.. biggrin.gif

Oh I see, I read somewhere about a particular software that enables successful hard disk cloning for the V Nitro, but can't seem to remember where at the moment. In the meantime, try searching in other V Nitro dedicated threads and forums. The answer should be in one.

Hi, I am current using vn7-591g-744n. After upgrade to windows 10, when i want to reset the factory setting it pop up said that the recovery files are missing and do not have the button of downgrade back to windows 8.1. cry.gif Now I am finding the recovery files for my laptop. Anyone can copy the recovery file for me (i think it will work) or have another suggestion? icon_question.gif

QUOTE(ylums @ Oct 6 2015, 02:42 PM)
Last time I accidentally format the recovery partition, so i ask highpoint in facebook he say can install back but i never send mine. So im not sure. What i do is download windows 8 iso and install and download back all the drivers. Dun worry about the product key as it will automatically detected. U can also backup your product key, ask google 😃
*
This^^ ... Also, i believe the OEM product keys are backed up and crosschecked with Microsoft's servers. I got tired of a bloated system, downloaded windows 10 ISO and did a completely fresh install. Windows was activated automatically, no fuss.
