My proton wira 1.5 always can't start in the morning. I have to push the key to the right for quite a long time like about 5 sec then push the fuel pedal to make the car start. Last few days when I was driving the car suddenly mati enjin and the steering bturn hard. Luckily no any car behind of me then I turn it to roadside and restart it.. I couldn't imagine if this situation happens on the highway...

Actually this problem happens quite a long time dy like since last year 2014 July. at that time I had changed a new battery and a new new starter for it but the problem still exists. Until that problem occurs, then I bring it to the workshop and the mechanic said engine and battery are good and he suspect is a fuel filter problem.

This morning the car still can't start normally.. It is stillneed to start with pressing fuel pedal with my key keep pushing right for few seconds.. so got to send it to the workshop again this fri

So guys have any clues for whats the problem? Ald hamtam many duit dy really hope to get it fix this Fri.. Thanks guys

I had almost similar problem with my Wira previously. During cold start, I need to press the accelerator slightly before it can start successfully.

I did a few things to resolve it:

I asked a wireman to service the starter. After that, I asked my foreman to clean the throttle body, replace the fuel filter and change the spark plug from copper to platinum.

Battery and starter is out of suspicions since they are new, I would highly suspect the fuel system ..

I still remember that I used to have a toyota corolla where it has the same problem (( Doesn't start in the morning normally or when I leave it not running for a long time during the day , but start normally in other situations))

Anyway, what happened at the end is that I had to change the fuel filter located under the rear seats , and I am not sure if it's the same setup as the wira .

The mechanic explained that the fuel filter maintains the pressure high between fuel tank and injection .. If the filter is spoiled, the fuel will be drained all the way back through the pipes to the fuel tank .. So, in the morning the engine is trying to get the fuel all the way from the tank instead of finding it pressurized at the injection ..

At the end, this is only a "maybe" but it's worth checking out

You're right bro! White exhaust gas coming out every time for the first start and the rpm boost to 2000 then it drops. Fully overhaul? How much does it cost man?

When the foreman replace the fuel filter, did he clean the throttle body ? By right he should have done it. The labor charge to clean the throttle body ranges from RM 30 - 50 while the labor charge to change the spark plug is less than RM 15.

For spark plugs, the price can be as cheap as RM 30 for copper based spark plugs while platinum type can cost you around RM 60 - 70.

R d wiring n connectors nice n tight between d starter n battery?

Does d starter crank d moment d key is turned? If it does u can eliminate starter issues.

If ur Wira is fuel injected, do u hear a faint whining sound when d key is turned to on before turning to crank? If there is, ur fuel pump most likely ok

If its a carb, when did u last service it? A dirty carb with sludge can cause poor starts.

Other than that a faulty auto choke or a misaligned distributor could also be some of d reasons for poor start.

i can't rmb the exact price as it around RM 8xx if no mistake which is less than 1K at proton service center. take noted it can't be done within 1 day so i highly don't recommend go outside & even trusted foreman is ur close friend also will cheat u so if u got time just stay there whole day see how they do. 1st day me at proton inspect whole day from morning till they close shop & the fella said trust me we will nicely do since u quite often go there service my car. they knew even i drive old proton car still go proton service. overall took 4-5 days just top overhaul

i suggest full overhaul or change new engine if u still wanna drive wira. i still got the issue is the cap often leaking (shown below the pic), my alarms got issue like suddenly when on even i locked my car, power windows u know la, when hit 120km/h feel like throttled, etc

i'm not those kaki modifier. one day my car drive halfway stop in the highway, luckily i noticed the cable faulty then i use tissue paper wrap the cable & cello-tape it works then drive to garage change the cable RM10. pls kindly check all the cable & rmb check ur engine pump something like that.

if u don't wanna overhaul then use darker engine oil like those for diesel car. that time i used 15w40 castrol GTX professional.

So do you hear a whine when you turn your key to on?

It feels like fuel pump high possibility, low pressure or something.

This VDO engine, most likely fuel pump half dead already... Cost around RM145 (Denso), Rm120 (Bosh)...
