is the extend 60days validity upon making calls and sms still valid? I'm still seeing it at http://www.friendimobile.my/help#faq but it is not listed at the http://www.friendimobile.my/prepaid-mobile#domestic-rates page

I feel like this plan is only good if your usage is very minimal, or you're using the 10 ringgit bundle

Port out is fine but who else is offering a small data plan (0.5 to 1 gig) and unlimited calls/sms to all network for rm40. That too, used only to cost rm 30 because you get rm10 bonus with every rm40 top up. I use 400 to 600 minutes and a few sms a month. With U's power prepaid I will pay rm40 to 60 per month just for call usage.
*
I guess its time for you to port out then. It will be increased to RM49.99 tomorrow sweat.gif shakehead.gif

What does this mean?

to be more exact they discontinued the RM10 bundle, not that the RM10 bundle increased in price to become RM15.

still, I port in to friendi because of that bundle sweat.gif

i will give it a few months before deciding. my bottom line is that I have to pay rm5 more per month but my data is increased from .5g to 1gig. Bottom line may actually improve with the new reload bonuses though.

To be honest, what you're getting is even lesser than before sweat.gif

Can I use the 100% airtime rebate for voice call and SMS? And what is the validity period?
No. The rebate can only be used for Pay-As-You-Use data after the data balance from data bundle is exhausted. The airtime rebate will have the same validity as the data bundle.

And so with that, let's take the monthly RM18 for 500mb as an example.

Previously: they give half the amount which is 250mb when you renew the plan.

Now: RM 18 airtime rebate / RM 0.075/mb = 240mb only, 10mb lesser than before shakehead.gif

Not to mention that if you make a lot of calls, those with shorter call block will tend to be better in savings as you don't need to pay in full 2 minutes if you use up like 1 minute and 5 seconds.

Lebara Talk (using wifi or 3G/4G) --> legacy telco phone lines (gsm or pstn).

it requires me to topup so that's a no go for me atm. How's the quality of the calls? I've tried a lot of voip programs and the thing with it gets flaky because of your internet connection(mostly delays and echos which is shakehead.gif shakehead.gif )

Just ignore the top up reminder, you still can try out the call quality with the preloaded RM2 free credit.
As for voice quality, using wifi to call is better than 3G, Calling fixed line is better than calling mobile. I mainly use it for fixed line calls and less than a minute short mobile calls. One short Friendi call is 18sen whereas Lebara is only 1sen or 3sen, quite a significant savings. It's worthwhile to keep RM10 Lebara credit just for this purpose since there is no monthly maintenance whatsoever.

just tried it and it is actually clear and without delay shocking.gif thanks for the recommendation thumbup.gif

still, haven't tried it on my 4g, I wonder how will it fare because mobile network generally have a higher latency per se

I already left them for U power prepaid. Good luck Friendi with such sneaky schemes; you're losing much needed customers fast.

On a side note, the MNP was the fastest in my history of a dozen or so mnp - dealer CNY Garage put in the request at 3pm and at 3.03pm, my Friendi line was dead and they quickly swallowed my rem9 credit balance. So fast that even the U Power Prepaid also no line till 6pm!

why didn't you used up all your credits?

Well to be frank....U Mobile is using Maxis Network too
so if that is so......it is also a MVNO too
*
U Mobile has its own infra for 3g and 4g, so it is a mno. Altel too, has its own infra for 4g so it is also a mno.

to be more correct, it is for 2g and 3g where U Mobile don't have their own infra (2g is solely by Maxis, 3g for certain areas where U Mobile doesn't cover).

U Mobile is new so running 2g infra is not cost effective for them anymore since it will be phased out in the later future and it will be more cost effective to share with the existing telcos who have 2g infra. Same case for Altel that's why both of them hop onto other telco's infra for 2g and 3g

http://www.friendimobile.my/terms-and-cond...s-and-condtions > Search for "4. FAIR USAGE POLICY (FUP)" - its 500 minutes and 500sms, I recalled that it used to be 1000 for each if not mistaken.
