So my router (wifi modem) from maxis died early this week and I decided to check the warranty on it from maxis' website and this is what was written there:

What if my Residential WiFi Modem is faulty within the warranty period? What should I do?
The Residential WiFi modem belongs to the customer and has a warranty of 12 months (warranty is only for manufacturing defects). Should there be any damage or loss of device, the customer may purchase another unit from Maxis. Please call 1800 82 1123 or 123 from your Maxis Mobile for assistance.
What is the warranty period for the Residential Wi-Fi Modem?
The warranty is 12 months for the Residential Wi-Fi modem.
Since I thought the warranty is only for a year and I've had it for around 5 years already so maybe I could check what's wrong with it myself, I opened the router since if it's something minor like a loose contact I could easily fix it without paying RM250 for a new one. I decided to call maxis for a replacement router after that.
2 days later, the replacement guy came and saw that I have opened up my router and told me that warranty won't be able to cover it anymore. He told me the router has a lifetime warranty and I was shocked because if I knew there was a lifetime warranty, I wouldn't have done it.
Should I call maxis and insist that I was mislead by the website and have the replacement fee waived or will it be pointless?
TLDR: router broke, website says 1 year warranty only, mine's way over warranty so I opened up the router, replacement guy told me there's lifetime warranty on router later.
