If you are not confident how to go about it, get a friend or any person from PC shop help you do the setup.

Oh yeah, my friend sent me this
They are still pushing Unifi to Maxis promo
Anyone interested boleh pm tepi drool.gif
However, from what I've seen earlier today... some Maxis users are complaning about Maxis blocking DoT DoH so no idea what will happen down the road
*
Well... a long discussion also on Unifi thread.

QUOTE(wong_86 @ Sep 5 2024, 03:54 PM)
request transfer maxis to unifi two days ago, no maxis cs call me counter offer,  guess maxis already give up me ..lol whistling.gif
*
You can try to call them and ask how is your transfer request?

QUOTE(OKLY @ Sep 5 2024, 05:38 PM)
Promo can get from Maxis Centre also?
*
Some Maxis centre maybe can. But be careful if you deal with agents which promises everything under the sky. At most you get 6 months free plus discount for 24 months.

QUOTE(dev/numb @ Sep 9 2024, 11:32 PM)
If switching from Unifi to Maxis Fibre (500Mbps), will they let me keep the old white Huawei box (EchoLife HG8240H GPON Terminal printed on underside label) or will they replace it?

My understanding is that the installer will just plug a CAT cable into a different port on the old Huawei and attach their Maxis Kaon thing (which I plan to replace with an Asus unit anyway), but it’s possible my knowledge is outdated already.
*
They may or may not. For my case when I switch from Unifi to Digi fibre, they replace my Huawei ONU with ZTE ONU. After 2 years I again switch to Maxis fibre and they did not change the ZTE ONU. They just plug the cable to lan3 of the ONU.

QUOTE(PRSXFENG @ Sep 10 2024, 08:36 AM)
Depends, should be yes?
Unless you are using 2Gbps plan, of which you should get a Skyworth 2.5Gbps Modem

or, if you're in one of those areas where Maxis has it's own infrastructure instead of riding on TM
you'll know you're on those infra if you receive offers for RM99 for 300Mbps

Also have expectations for not quite reaching 500Mbps in some areas
*
Maxis running on TM infra also can get rm99 300mbps if you pair with Maxis postpaid.

Thanks for the input PRSXFENG && YoungMan

Hoping I don’t end up with some newcrap all-in-one box that will give problems if I try to put in bridge mode to my own router.
*
If they decide to change, maybe you can request the technician to provide just ONU instead of AIO.

After upgraded from 30mbps to 100mbps speed not increase much like from 30 to 55 like that only
How long it can go to 90-100mbps?
Restarted router and modem several times
*
Use lan cable and do speedtest. If still cannot reach near 100mbps, call Maxis to reconfigure your speed profile.

Anyone in Kuching having Line issue? I did a fiber reading on my cable and shows a dead line.

user posted image

I just know it just got recovered after the blackout based on Unifi Alerts.

user posted image

I wonder how long will the process take if I have to ask Maxis to get Unifi Contractors to pull a new fiber cable. Zzz... on a Saturday too... and public holiday are coming again zzz... mega_shok.gif
*
All good here in Kuching. Must be your fibre cable or DP box.

Ouch.. cry.gif guess so... I had to call a private contractor who can check the fiber cable.

I do not know if I can claim for reimbursement for the downtime from Maxis since I remember Unifi is more lenient on this as they will have their dedicated team of fiber cable contractors.

Maxis also provide but I'm afraid it will take a week just to fix my line. The cable is only just 6 years old but did warn if it breaks la... thought can last at least 10 years before changing it.
*
My cable already 7 years old from Unifi lite time. Hope it will last longer.

Private contractor said DP point weak power and above 65 dBm reading.. I just want to verify my cable is not broken is good enough for me dy
*
Repair should be fast then as it affect also Unifi users. Your private contractor is it recommended from TM?

Well this is strange. Maxis installation completed just now. Supposedly 500mbps (on unifi infra) but look what I’m getting. This is from the e-waste Kaon router some more.

user posted image

Could it be due to my old Unifi being 800mbps? Might drop back down to sub-500mbps once the TM side turns off my Unifi?

Anyhooz, time to get replace the Kaon with a proper router.
*
Yes it will drop back to your subscribed speed when TM properly configure your profile. Your Unifi will still run for like 1 to 2 weeks after Maxis installation.

That’s better than having to wait till Monday.

It’s my biggest fear with Maxis honestly (or any provider riding on a different provider’s infra). With TM, you wake up each morning and hope for decent performance at night. For Maxis (on TM infra) you go to bed and pray you still have internet the next morning. sweat.gif wacko.gif

Got my Public IP configured earlier today. Simple process. 10 minutes on the phone kao dim. They won’t ask you what you plan to do with it. Get your RM10.60 they happy already. laugh.gif
*
But if kena during weekend then doesn't matter what provider, there will be no one coming to fix your connection.
Hahaha, you paid for public IP, they will not question you. If you request public IP from Unifi they will need you to show proof on why you need it.

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Sep 22 2024, 01:28 AM)
If whole Lorong is affected then it will be fixed quickly cause it's the main fiber cut for your Lorong

TM internal KPI for their Unifi customer is 24 hours so the trick is get your neighbors to call TM laugh.gif
*
Idk what actually happen, maybe the fibre cut happen somewhere not within our DP. Afaik didn't notice any TM contractor working at our lorong. Suddently at night connection is up.

Can't say they do not work on weekends though. Unifi most of them 24/7 since the fact my parents told me that TM contractors were outside the main road fixing the fiber cable that links to a few Lorongs.

They definitely will respond. I even send them a photo of the Power reading to show that there is no power from the fiber DP box. But suppose if Maxis kena, Unifi will be as well. The incident was on weekend after my night shift so coming home no internet was definitely unexpected.

Unifi 1st response then followed by Maxis to come to your premise for follow-up.
*
So Maxis will still come later to double check on the connection?

Sorry, guys.
Finally, I cave in and leave Maxis overall.
I do hope CelcomDigi Fibre under Digi network performs really well for the upcoming 2 years.

Got 6 months FREE fibre + free upgrade to 500 Mbps with RM129 300 Mbps price.
Got free TP Link EX510 router included.

After 6 months, FREE ended, they will converge my CelcomDigi Postpaid with fibre to CelcomDigi ONE Ultra with special price RM260.

Ok la, can save a lot of money overall.

Thank you Maxis Fibre 500 Mbps for providing stable internet for the last 2 years.
So far I am happy with it even though I have to deal with LOS 3 times due to cable cut.

*
With competition so tense between providers, just go with one that you feel value for money and stable. After 2 years can start shopping for new deals again. Gone are the days where you stick with 1 single provider for 20 years.

Yes walk in to competitor to register. After that you can call Maxis with the transfer ID. Then wait for Maxis retention team to call you for offer.

Then you have to call from time to time check on the port out status, can even tell Maxis to cancel port out as long not approve.

Registered to transfer from Maxis to Unifi, still waiting for Maxis's phone call
Unifi agent offering 6+2 months free subscription  rclxms.gif
And I dont need to pay an extra RM10 monthly for public IP

Total saving:
RM149*8 Months: RM1192 (excluding SST)
Plus, every month afterwards I save RM10
So basically another RM10*12 Months: RM120 till the day I switch again
Next step I'm going to move my RM79 Maxis postpaid to Hotlink, since no more one prime unlimited everything

Bye bye Maxis
*
👍 save wherever possible. I assume it is 500mbps? as below that no public IP.

If you need the offer, then yes call them. For his case, I think he do not need any offer from Maxis, thus will just let Maxis to approve.

Contacted them via twitter this afternoon, they've unlink my postpaid from the fibre plan
So just need to wait for their CS to call again to confirm my request
To be honest, unless they can provide me 8 months rebate plus permenant waver on extra charge of public IP
It will still be bye bye
user posted image
*
I can confirm that no way you can get permanent waiver for public IP. At most get 8 months free. If the aim is cheapest monthly subs, Unifi is the way. After 2 years can even apply SWU plan.

It's normal nowadays, people can freely move to any provider of their choice unlike during streamyx time.
