OK, here's an update for my case. I called Maxis, and this number, 1800-82-1230, no longer exists. We have to call 1800-82-1123 now. Let CS know about your transfer ID, and they will create a report for a callback.

So, I got a counter-offer from Maxis for RM 129 for 300Mbps, free for 8 months and tied with a 24-month contract. After the contract period, my account will remain at RM 129 for 300Mbps.

He can also offer me RM 89 for 100Mbps, but 100Mbps seems too little, and I'm comfortable with 300Mbps.

Initially, he told me my package is RM 149 for 500Mbps forever. I told him I didn't need the speed; I could reduce it to 300Mbps as that's the package I registered with UniFi.

Anyway, long story short, I'm staying back with Maxis. I prefer it this way. biggrin.gif

Update: Immediately my speed is reduced to 300Mbps now. laugh.gif From the free upgrade 500Mbps. laugh.gif I just checked on Speedtest. tongue.gif

Nice offer, seems they finally follow TM footstep to give perpetual discounts.

My maxis fibre contract gonna end, since i use astro, might as well use their fibre, what is the procedure ?

go Astro register first or go Maxis get the transfer ID ?
*
Go Astro register first, tell them you transfer from Maxis. They should provide transfer ID for you to submit to Maxis.

Hi,

I received this Free Speed Upgrade promo. And I am still under contract.

My question is will the RM20 rebate still applicable if I opt for this promo? Thanks 😊

Add on: I did check with Maxis CS, but they are not sure about this despite the FAQ got mentioned it. 😅

On Maxis group, some said yes but some had to call Maxis to reinstate the rebate upon noticing that it is missing.

Today called in to maxxisto ask if any promo for existing customer with expired contract.. The answer is no and ask me to apply for termination so that they can counter offer... What sop is that...
*
Do not apply termination, instead apply to switch to Unifi, then call Maxis to get counter offer. Broadband providers are playing such tricks to each other nowadays.

I'm from Kuching as well, i'm scared this leans to routing on Maxis side
TM still in range 100ms and above which is acceptable ping for playing in JP servers.
*
Ok, same then, from Kuching. I believe it's routing from Maxis side. Not sure if there's difference for those under Sacofa Infra or Maxis NGBB.

This is not good practice, instead of being fair and giving the rest equal distribution of optical power, they're splitting Non Unifi reserved ports to other ISP users?

laugh.gif

I'm displeased not with the R&R issues in this country but even Non-Unifi port users not get splitted ports?

22.17dBM quite risky there. Given Malaysian extreme humid weather and bad maintenance practices, in a year or 2 your signal level will degrade soon enough.

Once 23-34dBm, at the borderline level you'll start experiencing frequent line disconnects and stability issues.

The ideal signal level is 18-19dBm.Anything above I don't suggest going for gigabit plans in future.
*
Well, it's already a known thing that other providers riding on the infra being treated second class. From speed capped, port splitting, slow tech responses etc. They jaga their own customer first.

QUOTE(Quanta @ Apr 28 2024, 05:12 PM)
maybe should I move to Unifi to remove the port splitting?
*
That is probably one of the way, move to Unifi and subscribe higher package that they have to assign you a dedicated port. But if your housing taman port full, then no.

Nope, by still insisting to use that monopolized network is akin to bending over and accepting the whip of their monopolistic practices.

You're not going to pressure them to change their practices but instead keep supporting their ways.

There shouldn't be ports limitation when your network was planned well initially. Splitters are on the cheap now. It's well known to be made up to create that scarcity to force users to subscribe to their own brand ISP with unfair advantage.

How can a wholesale provider competes directly in the same business as the rest of its retail providers(RSPs/ISPs) that rent port from them. It's a disaster recipe.

Thank DNB for waking up and not to follow the same failed footsteps as TM.
*
Yeah, I can still recall the persuasion when I tried to port out from Unifi. The marketting officer try to counter by telling 1001 stories on how customers have came back saying that provider X always has slow network issues etc. I move on regardless, and I can see some of the limitation they impose on other providers.

hi...

anyone have maxis fiber agent to recommend?

see quite alot promo on fb but doubt about it credibility....
currently using 300mbps rm149 & finish contract....

when i try downgrade to 100mbps o maintain 300mbps, maxis say need recontract for 24month and 100mbps rm99 & 300mbps rm139

else maintain 500mbps rm149 no need contract....

too bad my area dont have unifi....
else sure port out to enjoy free 6month bill.....
*
Your area using Maxis NGBB infra? If yes then should be cheaper.

i only know about "NGBB" thing today.....
manage to get a agent through FB and he told me about this coz my area only got maxis fiber.....
after he check, he say my area is NGBB....
too bad i slow for 16days.....
NGBB Free 6month end on 1st may 2024

but supersaver rm99 for 300mbps still available.....
*
Then it's better... from 149 to 99 but maintain 300mbps. We who use TM infra can only envy that offer for NGBB customers.

I mean, you can switch to others for the free 6 months too. Just more headache when fibre damage

We have like a k*la*t** UNIFI contractor cartel charging exorbitant prices with horrible quality in my area

Last time they fixed it it failed after 7 months, and their warranty was only 1 month. You pay the main guy and he sends one of his goons to fix with zero care about sop or anything

After a lot of back and forth with maxis, maxis own team came in and did the fibre for us for free

But with 4G backup from maxis, along with bill rebate of a month, id still take that over UNIFI international routing
*
Yes I'm also on Maxis Fibre under TM infra. Switch over for the 6 months free and also because I'm paying without free upgrade on Digi Fibre.

You can get it with Hotlink Postpaid 60 as well. And if you get the 1Gbps plan, you can get an Oppo Tablet for just RM1 per month. That's a steal! tongue.gif

My speed is around 80Mbps slower than TIME as Maxis 1Gbps peaks at around 920Mbps but I am still happy for the cost saving.

Let's see if Maxis can solve that for me, if yes, then Maxis will be my favorite ISP.
*
If you run on TM infra then quite impossible for Maxis to do anything. Some TM OLT are known to have speed capped for non Unifi users.
If you want to try get beyond 920mbps maybe can get custom ONU from Anime4000

Just wondering, it is possible to reach the beyond 920mbps with Ubnt Loco? Or the speed cap is in the OLT itself so unless it's a modified ONU you'll still be hitting the ceiling?
*
The mod ONU can override some of the OMCY provision, quite likely you can reach that 1gb ceiling. Most even on Unifi will get around 940mbps due to device bottleneck, example 1gb lan port. Whether it is worth to try or not depend on you.

Same here, apart from the promotions...no goodies for those who are out of contract
Surprisingly Maxis's routing is better than TIME to EU sites recently, the differences is night and day...especially during peak hours
Yes, some of those are exclusive to the retailers before going on to the website
Probably not worth the extra spending, especially one is lacking the money for a full AP+Router+ONU setup cry.gif
*
I feel Maxis fibre still perform well during peak hours as compare to many complaint from Unifi users. Better they stay as it is rather than throw price like TM but shit connection at night.
As for goodies, after out of contract you have to try to port out to Unifi then they will call and offer something.

Just want to ask, thinking to migrate my Maxis Home Fibre 500 Mbps at home no. 1 to CelcomDigi Fibre 500 Mbps.
Want to combine with CelcomDigi Postpaid 260.
Is it good enough for international routing to US?
*
Can try check out their topic here. Though not many Celcom digi fibre users are active.

This is my speedtest with Maxis Home Fibre 1Gbps plan. I can never reach 1Gbps even tested over CAT7 Ethernet cable, 2.5G capable router and 2.5G capable device.

If you are looking for 1Gbps, I highly advise Unifi or TIME instead as it's proven on the Unifi and TIME thread where they will give the full 1Gbps.

Really disappointed by the dishonest practice of Maxis closing the case, claiming that I agreed for it to be solved even when the technician couldn't reach the 1Gbps speed as well.

user posted image
*
Normal if Maxis on TM infra. TM is known to capped other provider at near exact speed or slightly lower, and there is nothing Maxis can do. That is why who own the infra is the king.
Of course there are some who will counter this argument because they are lucky they didn't get capped.

Then they shouldn't advertise it as 1Gbps, simple.
*
MCMC guideline mandated that fixed broadband service provider should achieve 90% of the advertised speed 90% of the time. If you get 90% of the subscribed speed, ISP will just close your report. I believe you can create a new report with MCMC to fight your case, your download is just around 800+ which still low.
I have also argue this with Maxis before as they capped the subscribed speed around 90%. I still stay on at least no need to suffer internet slowness at night like Unifi. But maybe if one day my hand itchy, I may open a case with Maxis and MCMC again.

Yes, I am fully aware of MSQoS which require ISP to deliver at least 90% of the speed 90% of the time.

I want to give Maxis a chance as I don't think they are doing this intentionally. Let's see if Maxis can solve my issue.
*
Keep us updated ya. Afaik those speed capped is depend on luck, it is not implemented across all TM OLT. There are some technical explanation on the custom ONU thread.

QUOTE(Singh93 @ Jun 15 2024, 10:39 AM)
nevertheless, they need to resolve it, branding 1gbps and not giving the intentional is clear violation.  It's not our problem if some monopoly entity playing games. Get things right.
