I am planning a small charity drive with a group of friends. We are targeting homes that are really in need of help, instead of those having sponsorship from big organization.

Appreciate if any of you came across any orphanage home / old folk home in PJ / KL area that we can offer our help and contribution =)

May I ask what kind of assistance do you want to offer?

Agathians Shelter in PJ may need some help as they don't have big sponsorship and the main sponsor passed away last year ... so the current director is really trying hard to keep the centre afloat.

Tasputra Perkim in Ampang is always in need of financial assistance.

That's all I could think of. Children's home and elderly home are definitely receiving lots of food help and also outings...

You may want to consider to help after the festive season.

Yea, we plan to pay a visit after CNY.

Not sure on what kind of assistance that we could offer, am thinking to collect some donation among ourselves , contribute in terms of grocery items & cash donation.

Am thinking to offer help such as tutoring / house cleaning as well.

my suggestion is ask the person in charge of the home. i often hear how some charity homes resell stuff for money... and the mismanagement of funds. so... buy items but not a lot in bulk... so they can't resell.

for children homes, the caretaker likes people to spend time with the kids to inspire them to have a bright future... encourage them to study degree and bla bla. play sports...

elderly home... spend time with them. listen to their stories.

others... some ngos need administration help so if u all can provide assistance more than one day, then u can ask what kind of administration u can help out. sometimes it's just writing into companies for sponsorship/fundraising...

try pandawas academy, it's in ampang. it's school teaching the refugee children. sometimes they need books, stationery and the like. they have a fb page. u can check out there.

cleaning.... i have never done that but u can ask if they need such help.
