QUOTE(cheahcw2003 @ Apr 4 2015, 04:59 PM) CIMB Bank also have similar products I see. Surprisingly, RHB 3 mth FD 7% and 6 mth one is even higher 7.8%. Would have thought for 6 mth the FD promo rate would be lower. Anyway I have yet to sign up as my cheque just cleared today and have to do it on Monday. Their equity funds include the ASNB variable price fund http://www.cimbbank.com.my/en/personal/pre...e-campaign.html This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 4 2015, 05:06 PM |

In RHB to get the FD/ASNB fund 50/50 promo:
it is only meant for ASN2/3 & ASG funds, variable funds as pointed by some of the forummers. min 20k, 10k each FD/ASNB funds Put in for 6 mth 7.8% Received 2 gifts, car boot organizer & a water flask. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 6 2015, 01:10 PM |

QUOTE(plumberly @ Apr 6 2015, 01:42 PM) CONGRATULATIONS! Nothing fanciful. Just to put at car boot to separate out items, like a big rectangular tray.Mind describing what is the car boot organiser? The above sounds too good to be true initially at 7+% return! On second look, the effective rate is (7.8 + 2.2)/2 = 5%. Better than any 6 months FD out there. Cheerio. CIMB has similar offer as one forummer posted few days back but slightly lower FD rate. 2.2% is NOT accurate as it is NOT 7.2% but 7.2 cent dividend per unit. |

QUOTE(Ancient-XinG- @ Apr 6 2015, 02:53 PM) Aiya, no boss lah. Still learning from u guys on ASNB.ASG fund fact sheet also indicate the yield besides the dividend. The yield should be a better indicator of return than say 7.2 cent. So if one fund's price is lower, the same return of 7.2 cent will yield a better return. I think people more focus on the how many cents of return but did not look at the yield %. But the ASNB fund fact sheet do indicate the yield %. Should be the dividend over the fund price. I may be wrong. Please correct me if I am wrong. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 6 2015, 03:11 PM |

QUOTE(plumberly @ Apr 8 2015, 03:01 PM) My view is, it is simply because its return (~6%) is higher than FD (~3.6%) for more or less the same risk (except that ASX do not have PIDM guarantee). Risk compared to FD is higher. FD with PIDM protection. Higher risk with higher return. My ASG bought last year still under water. With some effort and trying, one can get nearly twice the return. So why not? Cheerio. |

QUOTE(plumberly @ Apr 8 2015, 03:37 PM) Under water? You must have very good experience going underwater or under something ?? With advancement in technology, we have submarine, stealth fighter, etc. NOW .... underwater XXX? Sorry for pulling your leg here. Cannot help it when I see "underwater". Ha. With improvement in global economy market, your ASG will be like the next SATURN V rocket! Cheerio. It is an understatement to say ASX funds have same risk as FD. QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Apr 8 2015, 05:05 PM) That is a separate topic. Already been doing that. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 8 2015, 06:32 PM |
