Want to ask, why is it ASX is not considered a higher form of FD?  Yearly it have given returns of 6.6 guaranteed.

Although it is not covered by PIDM, nevertheless it is still considered safe investment as your principal will not depreciate in value.
*
They can't guarantee their performance to be good every year to be able to give a return of 6.6. If you want, you can regard it as a better alternative to FD which im doing tongue.gif

And BTW, it's not as easy as putting into FD because for ASX you need to try ur luck

See my edited post regarding which want you should buy. Sorry. I point you to the wrong post All funds EXCEPT ASX can be bought via FSM. Charge you only 1% SC. Buy from banks will be charged about 5%
*
1% SC? I thought 2%?

Full time student with part time income from online sales. Very small (about Rm100/month if it's good. If no, then just rm20/month or sometimes zero)  Let's call it a hobby of mine maximising returns and learning new ways to make money legally. Have yet to try out stock market and UT. Or maybe I am too obsessed with getting rich. Haha...

Initially was just doing FD at board rate for years. Then decided to step into LYN Finance section. Voila. Learn about promo rates. Decided not to be "generous" to the bank. Why should I help banks to become richer by placing at board rates or placing at not so high promo rates? Get the best deals. Join musical chair or rather go with affin promo. The highest rates with pidm in town. Found GenX's blog and Read all of Gen-X's post from start until finish and got a burning inspiration from him with new knowledge. Banks and government must work for you and not you who are working for the bank/government (giving banks/goverment free money). The inspiration is still there.

Still not satisfied. Check out ASX thread. Then decided to try open ASM.  Now feeling quite satisfied. But next on the list is going to learn stock market to buy reits.

Decided to stick around and help others.

I have seen my friend who shops like Rm700+ of shoes and clothes and then complain no more money. Try helping out some friends by giving them some advise, no one was interested except one. So that's that. I just keep quiet and go about my own ways.

Goal in life is retired and live off and interest or dividend without touching the principal and taking my parents on overseas vacation at least once a year. The least I can do for them. Fancy cars, foods, shoes and clothes does not interest me. One must give something to gain something. Nothing is free in life. One gives up the enjoyment of life now and reap the fruits later. Also be healthy now, rather than be sickly when you are old.

Until today I don't event know how to play dota. sad.gif well I did play counter strike and call of duty against bots. That's about it
*
Why didn't I meet you when I was in college? cry.gif

Btw, just an advice for you. In your pursuit to being a millionaire, don't be too greedy or else you might lose all.

All the best to you bro. Salute you

How is it flaw? You are suppose to get 2 units (assuming price is RM0.50/unit) but you get only 1 unit after paying RM1. So where the other unit go? Definitely kept by PNB as reserve.

Sounds to be like a ponzi

Worried? Hehe...

1) Whole Malaysia using TNB, majority uses TM and Astro. Cookie jar is always full. PNB already said will have announcement if got changes.
2) Every year, ASX have been saving dividend.
3)The depreciation of RM will wipe out any dividend that you get.
What about FD? Interest earned will be wipe out more compare to ASX.
4) KLSE going to crash. Didn't KLSE crash badly in 1998? Some thing will happen. Some kind of control will be put in place to prevent people from moving money overseas. Very sure on this one. That's the only thing they can do. History have shown they have give consistently high dividends without fail.
5) Oil is not going to rise. True. But from previous records I believe ASX have enough reserve to last at least 5 years. Anything can happen in 5 years.
*
Not whole Malaysia using TNB. And ASTRO and TM are doing not so good considering a lot of their debts and costs are in USD.

Having said that, I still have faith ASX will remain as FP and still give out competitive dividend

As far as I know whole WM uses TNB. Same goes with phone line in WM. Sure 90% uses TM line. I have seen poor people who cannot live without astro. What the hell.
*
Don't forget Sarawak is also part of Malaysia mah. As far as I know, Sarawak Energy is the sole electricity provider in Sarawak. I might be wrong though.

As for Astro and TM, my point isn't whether the majority subscribe to these services or not. My point is these companies are not doing well lately because of the depreciating ringgit. Astro has to pay content owners aka all the channels in USD but their revenue is in ringgit. Same goes to TM. Their equipment are bought in USD but revenue in ringgit. I hope you get the point

Dividend is on the PAR value/NAV price on Issue Date i.e. RM1.00

U have 8474.58 units

Your dividend is
8474.58 x RM1.00 x 7% = RM593.2206

RM593.2206/RM1.13 = 524.97

Quoted for future reference. Thanks for the explanation thumbup.gif

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Use another analogy...

FSM regulars love this... tongue.gif

U invest RM100,000 in a chicken farm
U start with 100 adult chickens

Some time later, u have 100 adult chickens and 400 baby chickens

People value your farm at RM200,000 now
RM200,000 is the CURRENT VALUE of your investment

Then NEXT DAY, your genius farm manager one day tells u...

"Bos! I managed your farm well, now I hereby declare a dividend to u..."

*push a cart loaded with 200 baby chickens to u*

U happily receive it in a grand ceremony...

After the ceremony, workers throw back the 200 baby chickens into the farm...

Get the idea?
