right now i am getting extreme slow suddenly after half or even 1 hours surfing here without any problem.
sometimes i do get some SQL error(if i remember correctly) at the buttom of the pages, usually it will go away with a pages reload.

we have been doing a lot of server tuning and optimization to allow the servers to handle the peak hour loads. It is quite a complicated and time consuming process, therefore there are times when you might experience minor issues with the site.
p/s we are aware of the main page dishing out gibberish on opera browsers, we will be looking into it soon.
p/s the earlier outage was a connection issue at the datacenter which was beyond our control.
p/s server loads during peak hours (> 1100 users online) is still an issue we're trying to fix.

Yeah reckon it's Opera he's using. I'm getting the same problem too. Hmm, I can't remember when the last time I visited the main site was.
Did a packet dump and it seems that either Apache isn't serving chunk-encoded replies correctly, or Opera isn't interpreting them correctly.
Alpha_Tay: your problem is unrelated.

I think as a band-aid, you cant try adding this line to httpd.conf: BrowserMatch ^Opera downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0

I think you aren't explaining your problem correctly. You can't get a 404 in the midst of loading a page, because that 404 is set at the beginning of the server's reply.

But really...i do get 404 in the beginning, but i do get 404 in the middle of loading page... I can see the status bar "waiting" and "loading" pictures/sig then suddenly it went 404 But then again, it doesnt justify why i'd get 404 in the beginning too rite?

you might want to either provide a screenshot of the page with the 404 error (so that we know exactly which page it was) and whether the 404 was issued by the Lowyat.NET server or somewhere in between.
If your page timed out, then we might have an explanation, but a 404 basically means you stumbled upon a link which doesnt exist on the server.
update: wkkay, the BrowserMatch directive has been committed. Opera users, please update on whether you are able to view the frontpage now.

unfortunately, we cannot test site compatibilities with beta/release candidates version of browsers just yet. We do not have the means nor resources to keep up with constant beta changes implemented in pre-released browsers.
If the problem still occurs in the final release of IE7, then we will look into it. Beta/RC software is released to test compatibility with real world applications. There is a higher possibility that the browser is buggy rather then the site.

Maybe......But i think this only happens like few days ago... I updated IE7 quite long time... Anybody else NOT using IE7 have same problem? (auto refresh)
