Hebrews 9:27 (NIV) - Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgement,

There's only 1 Eternal God, there is only 1 of his creation.
There's no reincarnation or matters like praying to ancestors.
There is none.

The Ten Commandments also stated that, "You shall have no other gods before Me, You shall not make idols."

Yup, and a golden calf was produced immediately, not even few months after the 10 commandment was given.

The mere act of subscribing to a belief doesn't automatically mean all others are wrong in their beliefs, unless the doctrine to believe in explicitly calls for the explicit invalidation of all others (refrain from such practice is different from explicitly believing that such practices are wrong) :-D There is reality in that there is belief in reincarnation (Buddhists) and (praying/showing respect) to ancestors as with Chinese culture (and of same importance as the continuation and pride of the Male family's name). It's just up to one to choose what to believe in that would be in sync and with and suitable for enhancing their life. And for Chinese culture, it's called culture for a reason, either you adhere to culture, or subscribe to an imported culture and disregard current practices. Not limited to Chinese culture, changes and dilution of culture  happen across many cultures too. (Note: not attaching any right or wrong judgement here, just observation).

Bro this is Christian Fellowship Thread, we will be talking about Christian believes most of the time.
That speaks for itself, our believes is always in conflict with the system of this world and other religious or cultural values.

this is a Christian fellowship thread right why would i be talking about that shitty Apple founder shakehead.gif FYI i am not a fan of Apple products, hate it to the most user posted image

I don't even get the Android vs Apple fan war. Have no emotional affinity to either one. I just buy what I like.
Wouldn't mind to use an Iphone6 though if someone give its to me.

About Job? Now that's one Hombre who knows God enough and long enough not to give up that easily.
My Hats off to him. I don't think there will ever be another human in human history that has been tested like that and still win in the end.

Yeah we just buy what we need. Be good steward of resources given. No need to get into Fanboyism of phone wars.
It's pointless to use Phone as Life status.

Bible Devotions with UW

The Righteous shall live by believing.

QUOTE
Romans 1:17 - For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed--a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Why is it that some days when we wake up, we feel that God is like thousands of miles away?
Our Eyes, Our Hearing, Our Feelings tells us by the terrible deeds that we may have committed in the days pass, could have pushed God away. If you feel like somewhat like that, I have a solution from the Bible.

But Let me explain first, why. Everyday there is a spiritual war waged by the weaponry of Satan that tries to fixate our mind that we are still under the Righteous Requirement of the Law.
What I mean is this. This enemy makes us think we need to appease God through our actions, deeds, works, obedience..you name it, all that falls under the category of Effort of Man.
That is how the Bible term it, works.

In the Old testament, the righteousness of Man was sought. BUT IN the gospel, the righteousness of God himself is revealed as explained in Romans 1:17 above.

The Old Covenant DEMANDS. THOU SHALL NOT! By the effort of Man
The New Covenant SUPPLIES. GOD SAYS "I WILL" By the Grace of God.

In the Old when Man wanted their own way, God gave the 10 commandments as a test.
In the New God came and gave His Son away as our substitute that the Law DEMANDS when Man could prove no further of himself.

God gave us about 2000 years to understand that we cannot. And yet today many of us still live thinking that we can.

When you read the Old Testament, understand that Man is bankrupt and yet tried to prove himself righteous. Man who is in need to be saved and yet trying to be a Hero.
This is indeed the vanity of Man.
Understand that when Jesus came, He put the end of the righteous requirement of the Law towards Man. The Bible explains it like this in

Romans 10:4 (KJV) - For Christ is the END of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

It is over dear friends. This need to fulfill the righteous requirement of the Law is OVER! Christ put an END to it as explained in Romans 10:4.
END means FINISHED, OVER! NO MORE!

Our New life is no more about deeds/works/obedience/ doings/ etc..but BELIEVING! Even when you wake up feeling lousy, you can choose to believe that God is near you and loves you dearly!
When you believe this correctly, the Holy Spirit goes into work affirming your Faith and brings in the manifestation to the confirmation of his word.

When you Believe what God says in the understanding of the New Testament, ALL the righteous requirement of the Law is credited to you! (Romans 8:3-4)
Our EVERYDAY life hangs on our believe. This is what it means. The Righteous shall live by Faith. NO more about deeds but about Believe.

Dear Friends.

Believe that God loves you, is near you, you're made righteous in Christ. Your FAITH is the new requirement.

God Bless.

How do I convince my uncle to accept Christ? You know I'm living with Uncle's family so they are predominantly Buddhist. They keep a lot of idols...
*
Normally in this situation.

Have to be extremely tactful Tina, not wise to be too pushy when sharing the gospel.

There's always this wall of resistance caused by the enemy.
Need to pray for God to break open every form of resistance.

the Rule of the thumb is to understand that it is the Holy Spirit that testify and convict to the heart of Man.
We can only share the message.

So no point really going Rambo, doing this.

*
huh? biggrin.gif Why need to do that?

better let God have his way in reaching to pre-believers.

You can pray for Wisdom, telling God you don't really know what to pray for to save your uncle, sometime the HS will give you intuition on how.

Yeah ok but I can't wait 20 years...

They even put a "Do not eat" sign near the altar offering. Seriously? It happened because I don't know the custom la.
*
really? haha.

You don't have to wait 20 years, God can use anyone to reach your uncle. Practically anyone, friends and anything, even the Internet.
Father God uses a variety of channels as long as we persistently pray.

Just like the widow who bugged the unrighteous Judge to death. (Luke 18) 1st Parable.

The Internet? So how about when he login into his laptop, I put some Bible verses as his desktop wallpaper?
*
can pray that God will lead him to your john piper on youtube or you can send him a link. wink.gif

but how is your uncle? Is he okay with all this? because many Buddhist get offended easily.

If your uncle is okay with you relationship wise, you can pray first then give it a try.
