My parents are a bit pissed with me though, they suspect that I have a bf in Malaysia, thus asking me why I am reluctant to return home.

My bro is totally pissed. laugh.gif

I have another issue to bring up.

My uncle is a Buddhist, so how do I convince him to follow Christ? Any ideas?

Hey, you edit your post after I went to sleep.

You trolled me earlier. So you know how to tag.

My whole family except for me is buddhist too. And my dad in particular is very hard headed. It's really difficult. All that i can do is pray.
*
Are you a Christian? Yeah, did your parents object to your change of religion? Did they throw objects at you?

QUOTE(Sophiera @ Feb 6 2015, 02:36 AM)
UW? A woman? Nani?

How do I convince my uncle to accept Christ? You know I'm living with Uncle's family so they are predominantly Buddhist. They keep a lot of idols...

Normally in this situation.

Have to be extremely tactful Tina, not wise to be too pushy when sharing the gospel.

There's always this wall of resistance caused by the enemy.
Need to pray for God to break open every form of resistance.

the Rule of the thumb is to understand that it is the Holy Spirit that testify and convict to the heart of Man.
We can only share the message.

So no point really going Rambo, doing this.
*
Ohhh...Can I follow what Abram did to his father, ie, make the idols "fight" each other?

huh?  biggrin.gif Why need to do that?

better let God have his way in reaching to pre-believers.

You can pray for Wisdom, telling God you don't really know what to pray for to save your uncle, sometime the HS will give you intuition on how.
*
Yeah ok but I can't wait 20 years...

They even put a "Do not eat" sign near the altar offering. Seriously? It happened because I don't know the custom la.

really? haha.

You don't have to wait 20 years, God can use anyone to reach your uncle. Practically anyone, friends and anything, even the Internet.
Father God uses a variety of channels as long as we persistently pray.

Just like the widow who bugged the unrighteous Judge to death. (Luke 18) 1st Parable.

The Internet? So how about when he login into his laptop, I put some Bible verses as his desktop wallpaper?

can pray that God will lead him to your john piper on youtube or you can send him a link.  wink.gif

but how is your uncle? Is he okay with all this? because many Buddhist get offended easily.

If your uncle is okay with you relationship wise, you can pray first then give it a try.
*
Ohhh...that give me ideas. hehehe...

He's not okay with it but at least he didn't throw chairs at me. blush.gif

I thought Buddhist are peaceful type of people?

It's not only the Buddhist but the whole world.

Luke 21:17 (NIV) - And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

It's because of the system of this world (cosmos) created by Satan that's in conflict with people of God.
This is natural.

Seriously idols are not an obstacle. I grew up in a buddhist family upbringing, house filled with taoist idols but I chose Jesus didn't I?
*
Yeah but I'm already a Christian before I stay with my uncle's family.

So now I am hoping that maybe my uncle would choose Jesus too.

Its a long shot but hey, you never know if it works or not.

Just pray about it. Trying to share about Jesus in front of them may cause shock n misunderstanding.

It took me more than a decade, before I slowly warm up to Jesus's message. When i was in my youth, many christians invited me to church but I declined because i was very uncomfortable with it. So I can understand how your Uncle would feel.

Yeah I will try.

Can't say the same for my friends who are already married with a kid and he's only 23. Another one is 28. It really depends whether God's plan for you is sooner or later.
Great, use that as your advantage.

Well, I know that, AFAIK, the year had just begun and it's already the 2nd month. Be more optimistic, man!
Does he read?

Well, there's this book you can get for him,

From Buddha to Jesus: An Insider's View of Buddhism & Christianity by Pastor Peter Cioccolanti (a former Buddhist)

http://www.buddhabook.org/

It actually explains what Buddhism is all about and all the misconceptions everyone has about Buddhism and how he (Pastor Peter) became a Christian.

Nice book. I will check out the bookstore if they have any or maybe I can order it online.

Thanks dude.

Its not Pastor Peter Cioccolanti. Its Steve Cioccolanti.

Steve has a ministry in Australia. He's half Thai / Australian.

It seems that there's people who claimed that this Steve is a false teacher..

http://watchmansbagpipes.blogspot.com/2014...r-to-avoid.html

Anyway let me read the book first before I give it to my uncle. sweat.gif
