if u keep indoor then should be ok, especially if in airy places like living room... using wire mesh cover oso provides more air circulation.

Mealworms r ok to hold as long as they r not covred with their poop. They are not slimy or squishy despite being worms.

Petshops of course say can, the theory is, if there are so many syrians together, even if they fight, its not so obvious because the one being attacked can disappear into the crowd. The thing is, you are not going to keep that many. If you keep 2 or 3 together they will fight as there are so few of them. THe fiercer ones will probably chase the others round and round the cage and keep attacking and fighting non stop until you have an injured or dead hammy.

Hi..me also got hamster, around 1.1 years old d...I have two of them initially, both males. They have been like playing together since small, so I put them together in the same cage, then suddenly at 8 mths old, they started fighting and one of them were hurt, leg there bleeding, so I separated them and put in different cage. One mth after that, one died. So I have only one more left. sad.gif So,is male hamster more aggresive? Can they actually like stay together?

It depends on what breed of hamster. Syrians will fight when they get older and cant be kept together

I dont remember the exact name, but I think its called Katty 100% tropical hardwood bedding. THe shop owner uses it for all his tanks, just point to it and say you want.

They may not fight when they are young, but when they are older most probably they will. Check their skin under the fur, may have bite marks from when they nip each other.

Hey guys...
Wanna raise up a question here..

As our Sifu here said...most of the hamster should be kept alone in a cage...
It is always not advisable to keep 2 or more hamster together in a cage coz they will fight or etc....especially syrians..

So..my question here is....those petshop usually will put their hammies together in the big tank or aquarium...
So....how shud we explain this...

juz suddenly this thingy pass through my mind and i would like to ask...
no offence...  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

actually the answer is very simple. When u overcrowd hammys, when 2 of them start to fight, the loser retreats into the crowd, its not so easy to find him again in a tank of 40 other hamsters. on the other hand when you rear 2 or 3, they can chase each other and fight till they die.

In my opinion, breeder celect is better for long term use.. like for rodents where you change the bedding once in 1 or 2 weeks...woody pet I think better for rabbits litter box. But the priceof BC ...aiyo... expensive.

My friend with Syrians said that if you toilet train your Syrian, you only need to change the BC once a month or even 2 months.
