Have you stepped on red ant nest before? I did.... and they bite.... you know why they bite? Coz I stepped on their nest, kacau them....

I am guessing your female kinda kacau the red ants when they entered the cage.... so when 1 red ant bites, another will bite... then chemical signals will tell all ants to bite. Your other hamster is safe due to maybe never interfere.

Aiyoh, ant nest i give example of my own experience lah   . I am trying to say is if you kacau a red ants, sure they all attack. So if the red ants go into the cage to find food, the hamster kacau them, sure lah the red ants attack the hamster.

Another scenario would be your hamster died from unknown reasons so the red ants out of nature attracted to the body and try to eat it.... still... red ants... ai, they are a pest.

Sometimes they simply come. I got some hamster cages that got black ants and I dunno where they come from but black ants are not so fierce and my hamsters ignore them.

What you can do is place some ant poison lah. Or repellant. I use repellant coz safer. I think you can find those in certain hardware stores like Ace...

if u all scared of ants, go buy those ants powder or someone called ants sugar (chinese)......1 small packet about RM1. Just put some around ur tank (not in the tank), then the ants will come carry those racun back to their nest. This racun actually damage their scent ability, so they'll kill each other, and hence destroy the whole nest.

not that type. The kapur u mean is ants repeller. ANts will stay away bcoz of its smell.
Wat i mean is packet with yellowish powder form. if u open the packet, its like small bread crumbs. u try go to chinese medicine shop, ask for Ants Powder or Ants Sugar (in cantonese or mandarin). Then they'll show u lah.....

so we have ant-attack issue today...
i also experienced that..but luckily not red ant la..when i feed them with chicken..

Cooked or not? Hm..my uncle have one bad experience...

He feed his hammy with those raw chicken internal organ..maybe kidney..actually not him feed those hammy but his doughter. Previously, all the hammy are tame...very tame. After feed them with chicken, not all, but some of his hammy turn into agressive and tend to bite their own owner.

anybody face the same situation? So, right now, Im not feed my hammy with meat..mealworm is acceptable 

my RCs seems like dont like boiled egg le, they finish all the mix vege but left the egg white, they r vegetarian ahhh?

They change when they feel like it, can happen once a year, can happen few times a year... also the winter coat can last from 1 month to a few months. They will change back to their normal fur after the winter coat.

We have already discuss this. PLease read back the postings... dun say malas malas ah, forums if for you to search a bit since we already discussed it.

the bus is hourly.... so once you at KJ, ask for the bus timing at the counter... then wait loh... the journey is short.... 15 minutes the most.... but hourly bus.

depends on wat pet u buy lah....and make sure u have a comfortable container to house them during your journey back to Ampang. I'm sure they'll be fine. But if u buy cats or dogs, cannot board a bus or lrt i think.

oh......but as long as ur parents let u keep pets, then ok lah..... Mine last time dun even allow me to keep pets leh, only fish, aha...........

If small pets....since u have hamster liao, mayb can consider gerbils (refer to gerbils thread), hedgehog, snake, spiders, crabs, iggy........
