I noticed that Malaysian bookstores and stationery shops all stocked 2B pencils mostly on shelves.

Why?

The actual standard for most developed 1st world countries today if you go to EU, UK and Japan, their is HB standard.

HB leads are less easier to smudge, neater and and cleaner.

Why 2B? Even B itself is already too much.

I dunno the difference.

2B is not just great for exam papers. Its what people use for art and drawing as you don't need to apply so much force.

You go to most departmental stores and stationery shops, most bulk pencils sold in boxes ALL are mostly 2B standards.

People can't be buying these bulks solely just to sit for exams once in a while.

Hb is harder compared to 2b. It can easily tear our standard exam paper if use too much force.

2b is softer & easier to "apply".

Them westerners handwriting are generally bolder and rounder. Easier to read. We asian tend to write smaller and takes shortcuts. Darker pencils help.
