Quite a lot of people PM me about is that worth to upgrade their phone from Lumia 920 to Lumia 830

Or

Should i go for 830 instead of 930? (because there is quite huge price gap in between two flagship devices)

So now i would like to make a quite comparison about both of the devices on

1. Overall Hardware quality
2. few photo comparison

This review will update from time to time as i just get this devices around 2 days smile.gif

Sorry for broken manglish biggrin.gif and i am not really good at writing proper essay (most probably will provide TL;DR point form with a lot of photo) laugh.gif

First impression (What's new?)

user posted image

Hardware/Design
-Lumia 830 come with very smooth and high quality removable casing. Other than that,it's not fingerprint magnet like lumia 920 casing
-Newer phone design (lumia icon) and much lighter compared to Lumia 920
-MicroUSB port move from bottom to top (beside 3.5mm audio jack)
-Soft volume, power and camera button (which i dont really like it ..personally i prefer lumia 920 button)
-Brighter screen and no screen burn issue(overwarm display color temperature at lumia 920)
-Silky sleek touch feeling on the screen and phone brows.gif

user posted image

Software
-Lumia 830 come with most recent update which is Lumia Demin. While Lumia 920 currently still on Lumia Cyan(my device come together with developer preview)
-Lumia 830 come with much complete and updated camera firmware/algorithm (like live image)
-Lumia 830 pre-bundled more features than lumia 920 ..like motion data, glance screen, brightness profile etc

Feel free to let me know more info/ cool feature smile.gif

Conclusion[25/1/2015]

Q: Worth to upgrade to Lumia 830 (Affordable flagship model) from Lumia 920?

A: Yes and No. Because it's not really a huge upgrade from lumia 920. You still getting 1GB of ram with 16GB of internal storage (lumia 920 come with 32gb internal storage). It's just a replacement model of lumia 920 with much more updated processor and design. I will consider 930 instead of 830 if i am upgrading from 920.

Q: Worth to jump ship/change to Lumia 830?
A: Yes. With less than 1.2k, you can get a decent specs of windows phone with above average of camera. Other than that, windows phone store apps should more than enough to serve you

Q: Should i purchase Lumia 830 instead of Lumia 920

A: Yes. You should. because Lumia 830 provide much more flexibility to that devices(like expandable storage, removable battery etc) and camera performance in between 2 devices are quite on pair

Correction on the spec you listed, 830 uses micro sim not nano sim. Anyways congratulations on the new 830. I find it a better upgrade from my 820. One of the plus point is longer battery usage and less heat. It is also thinner and lighter.

Its nano.
And a warning - if the Telco ask you to cut the micro-sim to nano size - DONT Do it - you won't be able to take it out later.
Happened to my father's 830.

Always get an actual NANO sim from the Telco.

I suppose the Telco that ask you to cut the micro-sim to nano size is U-Mobile ?
