iva having a torrid time today, save for his cross to hazard that lead to our goal. ramires is worthy for his selection and i am totally satisfied with his contribution in the 1st half.

i am disappointed with the game but considering we missed fabregas and costa, i think the result is acceptable. at least we maintain our 5 points lead at the top of the table.

this team surely doesn't have plan B or anything like that because we kept fielding the same player over and over again until disaster struck us like suspension and injuries. and i fear if we keep on playing like this, sooner or later, we will have to grind for results as opponent will be able to read our play.

motm for me? obviously zouma. please put cahill in the reserve. coming off from the bench also still making shaky clearance etc...

We have very thin squad. Cuadrado IN is a huge addition to squad but i think we need back up for cesc. Totally missed him tonite. Lack of creativity

agree on cuadrado. willian in serious need of some competition for the starting berth on the right.. willian at shakstar and willian at chelsea is totally 2 different player. hopefully IF cuadrado joined us, willian can recover his form.

'Kurt Zouma reminds me of Marcel Desailly' - Danny Murphy

He reminds me of France legend and former AC Milan and Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly  with his power and presence, but the greatest quality he demonstrated against City was his calmness for his age - he did not once look panicked.

It would have been easy for Zouma to let adrenaline take over and make a rash tackle but he made the right decisions at the right times, and he knew when to stay on his feet.

And this was not against a lower-league team in the League Cup. He was playing against Sergio Aguero and David Silva, which makes what he did even more special.

I also watched Zouma against Liverpool in the second leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.

What I saw was a man desperate to keep his shirt and to prove to the world he is a top-class player.

Even when he was beaten, his pace meant he was able to get back and recover.

He communicates well, is a handful in both boxes and his distribution is good, in that he does not try to do things he cannot do.

Zouma certainly did not look inexperienced or short of confidence, which are the factors that might mean you do not risk a young player in a game like that, especially in such a key position.

as of now, i really don't see any reason for ZOUMA to lose the starting berth to Cahill. superb performance by him and i hope his fate can be better than Kalas.

welcome cuadrado! sad to see schurrle leaving but i think this is a good business. schurrle was struggling for form and fitness after the worldcup and for some reason, the board still managed to squeeze in some profit margin in the sale. good business!

Spurs and Harry Kane's form has been exceptional. And we are going to meet with them again on 1st March.

what a match! motm for me is definitely petr cech. what a save that is! credit to howard as well because he is simply awesome for everton.

i am glad we did not lose our game even without the early contribution from fabregas. hazard is a definte torn to the everton defence and he has been a very hardworking player in our defense phase. cuadrado abit dissapointing i guess but this is still too early to judge him.

zouma make lukaku looks like a baby. super solid performance by him as well beside terry. introduction of fabregas and drogba change the way we play the game as we got somebody strong to hold up the play up front.

willian simply deserve that goal. he has been exceptional the past few weeks!

7 points maintained against the likes of everton! KTBFFH!

on matic case, i do believe the wrong part from the ref was he failed to dismiss barnes after the takle on matic. the tackle is dangerous, no question about it. but the way matic reacted is definitely a violent conduct. i will also reacted that way if i am at the receiving end of that kind of tackle. the point is, matic's professionalism was not there when he reacted and he was red carded for that. maybe a bit harsh (considering the event that occured) but warranted.

all in all, case close now. and matic will be rested for 2 games. and considering the upcoming fixtures after the ban, it might be a blessing for us. as for the final against spurs and PL game against west ham, i think ramires and fab can do the job. to spice up things a bit, maybe ake can play in his stead.

putting mikel+ramires together will only brings negativity to the game. i still think fab+ramires is the best option we got there with oscar dropping into defensive duty when fab ventures forward. btw, i thought mikel is injured, no?

agree on drogba.. he should play if luis is selected ahead of azpi. if azpi is selected, then forget about drogba. maybe in the last few minutes should we need to waste the time or to chase the result. he is still a big game player but to play the full game at his age, and in the match this important is a no-no for me.

willian vs cuadrado? i'll go with willian. defensively hardworking and capable of wonders while attacking. cuadrado still very new and in the game that he played so far since joining us, i still don't trust his defensive work yet.

cahill vs zouma? zouma of course.. enough with cahill. seriously, what happen to this guy?

I thought it was park 10 players in the box and get 1 black player to chase the ball? laugh.gif
Really dunno what happen to Cahill. Or maybe he was always borderline like this, only JT made the def line looked good. And Zouma came in and showed us the difference. Still hopeful he will improve and step into JT's role. At this rate, he can't even start ahead of Zouma.

agree on the bolded part. and if i am to be a bit lenient to cahill, maybe he is in that poor form period of the season. every player got one right so, maybe this is his.. he did perform poorly in some of his last few appearance but let see how he performed until end of the season. he is still a good player. the question now is he worth the starting berth or not. with zouma playing awesomely when selected, he might need to put up his effort to justify his selection into the starting berth.

wow.. very surprise with the line up there. Inclusion of cahill will enable us to suddenly transform into 352 formation? This is really weird haha

i am satisfied with how we parked the bus tonight. at least our bus did bring home a trophy, albeit a minor one. hopefully this will be the first of many for JM and chelsea.

seems like zouma's selection is justified. truly a secret weapon for a game like this. forcing eriksen to drop deep into his own half and the reinforcement he provide in the middle of the park forced kane to drift out wide which renders him ineffective. i think he performed much better than mikel!

azpi is as solid as steel. no wonder he is the best right back in the PL. good for costa to get his goal.
