Adapun spesifikasi kapal KM ADRI XLVIII dan ADRI XLIX yaitu memiliki panjang 68 meter, lebar 13,50 meter, tinggi geladak 5,70 meter, sarat air 2,75 meter.

(Dispenad)

Lockheed Martin and Indonesia seek to progress radar programme

Jon Grevatt, Bangkok - IHS Jane's Defence Industry
17 February 2015

Lockheed Martin and senior Indonesian defence officials met on 17 February with a view to progress the Indonesian Air Force's (TNI-AU's) requirement to procure ground-based air-surveillance radar systems.

The Indonesian Ministry of Defence (MoD) said representatives of Lockheed Martin met with Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu in Jakarta to "determine the continuation" of the radar requirement, which the MoD is undertaking in co-operation with the TNI-AU and local industry. The MoD said the procurement is being progressed, but did not elaborate.

The MoD added that Lockheed Martin, should it win the contract, is aiming to support the local production of radar systems by transferring technologies to Indonesia as per the terms of the country's Defence Industry Law 2012, which requires all foreign contractors to involve local industry in all major defence programmes.

What makes you think general A doesn't have IFV, troops and air support behind his abrams? Check some of the war, the mbts are usually on front line be it open field battle or urban warfare. In Iraq, abrams leading the assault before making way for troops, hummers, ifv through. Same goes to Chechnya war.

Whatever you said, you think your enemy won't do the same? They won't be stupid enough to advance blindly with all their vehicles moving in straight line waiting for you to destroy first and last vehicle trapping the rest for you to finish off.

If it's Indonesian, we prefer to inserting a small scale recon troops and militia to cause a disruptions and confusion in enemy ranks then they can make a way for a much larger armies. The process is long usually, gradually and contentious. Indonesia army is an infantry minded army. Even our army modernization today is revolving in and around infantry support unit first.

why we must think situation & environment in our soil will be as same as situation & environment in Iraq..??? for me, we cant take every details in Iraq to compare with what we have here, on our own ground..Iraq is a land vast with plain flat desert, which is a very good advantage to send tanks as a the main assault team..& this is also why Iraq have 5000+ tanks (sadly most of them cant be used plus its a monkey assad babil model of basic T72 tank btw) standing by

while in Afghanistan, abrams are not the main assault team..afghanistan are not like Iraq..too many hills & mountains, too many hidden places, not a good advantage for tanks..same goes to vietnam, also not a good place to let tanks lead any assult

btw, for chenchen war;
Chenchen war sos

u see..its not a battle of tanks vs tanks..yes of cos its about the weakness of T-72, but the most important thing is u must not rely too much on tanks vs tanks..yes PT-92M is inferior to abrams, leopard & other western tanks, but the most important thing is how the tanks suits ur doctrine & ur strategy..

for me, it would be better to choose a tank that is not too heavy, high-mobility & maneuverability, fast, easy maintenance & logistic support, have lower height than other modern mbt (actually T-90 would be better, but T-91M also ok la), & most important thing, can fire any modern shell (DU, KE whatever shit) effectively & accurately, while on static or while moving..other than that, wont mind to compromise here & there la
*
for the bold parts, i think that's why Sing and Indo chose Leopard. They have an excellent Weight to power output ratio and their maintenance is easy to be done. As an example you can change and replace the block engine of Leopard in less than an hour meanwhile you need at least 8 hour to replace the block engine in T-72 series.

Why not trying to install Chinese made missile? they using the same interface module as MBDA made missile and can be fitted into SEWACO combat management system

That's why Indonesia can integrate our Naval Combatant (almost using French/Netherland) CMS with Chinese made missile without much difficulty unlike Russian made missile, after all this is French-China conspiracy. French get money from every Chinese made missile which using French technology and Chinese can sell them at lower price than their competitor. And in the end the French can using that money to funding their Research

Not really, when i visit, russia ones, they like to highlight  their cost effectiveness on handling those threat with the given price tag. They dont like to claim my product can beat this beat that instead their marketing motto is more of cheaper price tag do the job good enough.

Only western like to compare especially us. Europe also seldom do that and is more like russian. Cheaper price tag to do the intended job.

Again.. russia have their own doctorine while us have their own. Comparing those two is foolish.

haha at first we have worry and doubts too, but the Chinese are a tenacious seller always come with better products every time they get there to offer their products. But it's working and have a good result when we conducting multiple test. Personally i think it's very worth it to take a try or two.

"We wanted our user to get the best. We had to be customer-driven from the word go," says Dr. K. Rajalakshmi, project director of the DRDO's AEW&C project, which, as Livefist reported last week, gets operational this year.

Categorised as a sensitive project given the classified nature of the sensors, electronics and systems on board, Livefist was given rare up-close access to the EMB-145i after it flew a test sortie at Aero India today, and a chance to interview the highly motivated team driving the project to delivery.

The good news is there's a lot of it. Right after Livefist was given an official tour of the aircraft, the team met with an Indonesian military delegation that has already expressed deep interest in acquiring the comparatively cost-effective Indo-Brazilian platform. Fresh interest has also been shown by Israel and Brazil.

To the global market, DRDO and the MoD offer the EMB-145i in three possible categories: (a) A total solution, available as is (with modified tactical systems according to user needs), (b) As a sensor package adaptable on user-identified platforms, and © as a modified version of the EMB-145i that involves a co-development/component model.

"The government is very keen to see this platform exported. They have assured us full backing to get customers," says Dr Rajalakshmi.

The Indian Air Force will take delivery of two EMB-145i jets this year, completing its order. The third Embraer airframe, expected to arrive from Brazil this year, will be retained by the Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS) for research on upgrades and as a first unit for export. Indications are that Indonesia could be first in line for the jet.

"The big advantage is cost-effectiveness," says Dr Rajalakshmi. "No comparable system has all of the features that the EMB-145i has, and it's the only aircraft in its class with an in-flight refuelling capability."

finally we will get our AEW&C system rclxms.gif

That list stats is incorrect. Since when serbia buying from americans? Also, for local, apart from su30mkm and mig29, the rest were from US, nato, korea. PT91 from poland unless it is considered russian made because of t72. By right should fall under blue red group.
*
they only include US made and Russian made, nothing else, even when your country brought something from UK or Turkey still it doesn't count at all.

US donate some Humvee and armored vehicle like MRAP to be used as part of Peace Keeping efforts for Serbian contingent, and Serbian bought a lot of small arms like Barret M-95, M4 Carbine, Mossberg 500 shotgun. And they have considered F-16 as possible candidate for their next MRCA acquisition programme

First of all, did Thai buy that f16a brand new or second hand? In 1988, f16c already been around replacing f16a. If that f16a was bought 2nd hand from Americans, that means the aircraft is probably already way over 30 years old. Fighters structural frame lifespan is about 30 years old.

It's about time for Thailand to replace the old fighters to prevent such disaster from occuring. Time to ground all older F16a.

Visit F16.net and you could find all of F-16 airframe number and delivery time, they compile all data record about F-16 comprehensively, everything.

Serbia is now friendly to Americans? Thought they hated Americans because of Bosnia ans Kosovo war? I've been to F16.net, don't think the f16 could last longer than the heavy duty 'F15 and f18.

Yugoslav has a long history of cooperation with US long before the Balkan War happened in 90's. Back then so many Yugoslavian firms getting US made weapons license like M101 (M-56 in Yugoslavia), M72 LAW (M80), even sharing intelligent and economic relationship because they have the same perceived threat from Soviet Union.

For F-16, call it whatever you want, but the facts is F-16 still used by more than 30 countries around the world and still continue to become their backbone because of their robustness and versatility. Their values and utility is matching their price tag, and F-16 was deemed as one of the most successful 4 generation Fighter design in the market till today and no one can deny that.

Armoured Vehicles Asia Conference 2015

28 April, 2015 - 29 April, 2015, Jakarta, Indonesia

Summary More information List of Speakers Registration & Tickets

Taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia in partnership with PT Pindad, the Armoured Vehicles Asia conference invites you to join regional military officials and manufacturing partners at a series of lectures, round table discussions and working groups designed to strengthen existing and to create new international partnerships for armoured vehicle stakeholders.

If you are active in the region or looking for that first project to contribute your solution to, this forum will provide you with access to the information and contacts that you need to deliver your offering.

Why Indonesia?
Indonesia has increased its defense budget over the past 5 years from $3.2 billion in 2007 to $8.1 billion in 2013
Indonesia is in the throes of a rapid transformation, swept along by its position at the heart of the world’s most dynamic economic region
The country has recorded one of the most consistent growth rates among global economies during the past decade with nearly 6 percent annual GDP growth (McKinsey SEA Report)

Indonesia and Armoured Vehicles
Indonesia plans to buy 420 Terrex 8x8 AIFVs under license from Singapore’s ST Kinetics. In November it finalised a deal to procure 102 modernised Leopard 2 MBTs, 42 upgraded Marder 1A3 IFVs and 11 armoured recovery vehicles from Rheinmetall in a €216m ($290m) deal, which includes logistical support. The deal makes Indonesia the 18th nation operating the Leopard 2. Indonesia’s locally-built armoured personnel carrier, the 6x6 Anoa, has had a number of export enquiries since it was produced in 2009 from Malaysia, Iraq, Nepal, Oman and Bangladesh

About PT Pindad

PT Pindad's objective is to become the leading manufacturer of defence and security equipment in Asia, by 2023 by utilising product innovation and strategic partnerships and the implementation of an integrated effort. Their primary objective is to support national development and specifically to support national defence and security.

Starting with the Nation Car project in 1993, PT. Pindad began focusing on the development of motor vehicle technology. PT. Pindad (Persero) since 1993, has been working with the various parties both within and outside the country in it’s effort to develop a special function vehicle technology, including bullet-resistance vehicles to meet market demand.

Continuous research and development is conducted to achieve future goals to increase the capacity of business and technology. The resulting product, such as : Tactical Vehicle, Panser for the TNI and Polri, special construction and automobile spare part.

Asia Driving Global Armoured Vehicle Market Growth

There is an arms race taking place in Asia. China’s defence budget has increased eightfold in the last 20 years and now many other countries in the region are looking to catch up. Both Vietnam and Cambodia have more than doubled their military spend over the last decade and other regional powers, including Japan, Philippines and Malaysia are following suit.

According to SIPRI data, the top five arms importers in the world are all based in Asia – India, China, Pakistan, South Korea and Singapore. India recently overtook China as the top arms importer after Beijing invested in its indigenous defence industry to lessen reliance on foreign deals. India is hoping to mirror China’s success in this area as it seeks to bolster its defence infrastructure and award contracts to Indian firms.

Some analysts predict that the global armoured vehicle and counter IED market will decline over the next decade, with traditional markets in the West taking the brunt of the collateral. However, while the global market is set to wane, demand in Asia will actually increase during the period. ICD Research forecasts that the market in Asia will be worth $5.4bn in 2021, up from $4.4bn in 2011. The vast majority of this will likely be spent on tactical trucks, main battle tanks (MBTs) and armoured personnel carriers (APCs)
Countries in the region such as Thailand, Singapore, Pakistan, India and South Korea face threats from insurgent groups, further increasing the requirement for armoured vehicles and other military equipment.

The 8th annual Armoured Vehicles Asia conference will create a high-level platform to address these challenges, including:
Armour requirements and procurement processes
Enhancing Survivability and Protection
Improving Vehicle Mobility and Firepower
Integrating C4I Networks and Systems into Armoured Vehicles
Capability development for armoured vehicles to improve overall mission effectiveness
Providing operational case studies and experiences of armoured vehicles in battlefield operations

Armoured Vehicles Asia 2015 is part of our highly successful International Armoured Vehicles Series, dedicated and specially contextualised to the region. Our event offers the perfect platform for high-level, senior key decision makers from the military to interact and meet with international counterparts and industry stakeholders.

Adsevents

this month our defense minister has visited ST Kinetics and going to their cavalry and armored brigade training center and looking at their production assembly, i think the talks has gone smoothly. 420 units is not a small number rclxm9.gif

I don't see the point of TNI buying ST Kinetics Terrex since they already have the Anoa.
*
honestly, Anoa as derivative design from VAB is quite outdated with contemporary design such as VBCL, Boxer, Terrex, IVECO Superamf and so on. But the main advantage of such design is cheap to be produced at en masse and quite helping us to knowing how to assemble and produce your own armored vehicle and how to managed and organized your chain supplier and managing to deliver them to their respective customer on time. After all of the experience with Anoa, the Army pointing their needs about how to conduct operation in current threats to Pindad and ask them to find the solutions that's why we will moving into a more elaborate design such as Terrex
