No need, 95 is fine.

Mazda3 and CX5 all running similiar compression ratio in their skyactiv engines.

Soul Red scheduled for delivery next week, booked early kiasu Oct. Sedan only available in Feb.

TTDI has one. I'm really impressed with the build quality. Very premium, photos doesn't do it justice, hard plastics on some parts but feels very solid when you knock on it. Leather all over but I'm surprised the leather seats are actually tough fabric in the center, about 2 sqft of it. Doors close with a solid thud, so unlike Jap cars esp B segment.
Space is a premium, but snug like a sports car. Red stitching looks very well done, it is miles better than my CBU Swift which I paid the same price 10 yrs ago.
Gripes: door panels seems a bit soft outside, tires looks too Eco friendly. And yes, no LEDs but sit inside and its forgiven.

Wait when you say ttdi has one, you mean the sedan version? I'm looking for the sedan and want to look at it in person first before I buy because heard about people saying the hatchback looks very small which I agree as well just by looking at the pictures.

The sedan looks much better in my opinion.

I tested the car this morning. Just a short drive around Jalan Ampang and Duke highway. My impression is that the car feels like other new Mazda with skyactiv. Feels light and sprightly and easily get to highway speed. Ride is a bit firm, but could be due to overinflated tyre, typical of showroom car. NVH is class average. The head-up display is very useful, becoz there is not analog speedometer, only small readout below the rev counter.

The interior has good space the front for me. Steering is from expensive Mazda, and your knee rest on soft leather ( or vinyl I dont know). The dashboard has good ergonomics, with not many switches, aircond control within reach. But the Mazda Commander control is a bit too far behind the natural position of my hand. Rear seat has some legroom, but cramped on the head. The width also will limit it to 2 adult only.

Seats are leather with fabric insert. Feels quite hard wearing type, not the plush soft type. Seat back is thin, to give good legroom at the back seat.

Boot for the hatchback is very casual. Average volume, made less accessible by high boot sill.

Exterior is awesome, even in other color than soul red. Two tone rims is nice. Just slack the headlight is yellow bulb type like the Mazda6 2.0.

Glenmarie, but it is a Skyactiv Diesel, some specs are not the same with the NA being sold so don't be mistaken. But at least you get to compare the HB and the sedan. No sedan test drive units in any showrooms yet, have to wait for Feb

Sorry no white interior to choose. Only the black is sold. Yes I was quite disappointed too when they told me this. Lucifal told me to do aftermarket, hahaha. Maybe I will.

Gonna post here on what I've posted in the other topic

I went to the Glenmarie showroom. Only the sedan can be viewed there but that model is the diesel Skyactiv, so don't be mistaken. It lacks some stuff that the NA version has like paddle shifts. Oh the sedan will only be viewable this weekend only at Glenmarie, it will be moved to another showroom after this weekend.

No sedan version to test drive yet at any showrooms (SA told me February only got sedan units to test drive), only the hatchback is available for test drive at the moment (specs for both are the same and don't mistake it for the diesel show unit there.)

All in all, like what hkenh mentioned above, it is a driver oriented car. I drive alone 99% of the time, so I feel this is the car for me. Power and handling is good (for me at least), finishing is above par against the City (which alot people are comparing to), space of course not duh (but not a problem for me)

I feel that the HB is more suitable for a woman, as it looks small (but SA told me that there's a sport package that's gonna launch soon to have black toned rims and spoilers and skirting with some colour changes, you can view how it looks at the showroom, so the HB with that sport package may look more viable for a guy who still prefer the HB.)

Sedan will be the way to go for guys. As the spec sheet puts that the sedan is about 300mm longer, and the back looks quite similar to the back of Mazda 3 which looks better.

I've booked a Soul Red sedan. March only can deliver, before CNY is impossible

Yeah. Hard plastics and it moves just by pressing it abit. But that's the same with the mazda 3. The previous Mazda 3 had better dashboard quality I think.

It is hard plastic everywhere no doubt. But there's plenty of texturing and trimming that Toyota and Honda designer still probably dreaming ( together with accountant). For example, look at the aircond vent on the side, circular type with silver and high gloss black, surrounded by 3D-like texturing around the outlet housing. The dashboard in front of the passe ger is multiple surface, with soft leather ( or vinyl ) with real stitching.

sweat.gif err yeah but you're comparing a 85k car against a 120k car. The Mazda 2 compared with other cars of similar price tag, I think I can say that it beats its competitors easily in terms of interior and exterior design and looks. But not in terms of practicality with its limited rear space and boot space. As for performance and handling I think it's fairly good, and I loved it very much.

My wife wanted to book the Honda city due to the large cabin and boot size because we have a baby.
But I really wanted to book this Mazda 2 due to the awesome looks (not referring to the headlamps vmad.gif ) and cool techs.

However I saw alot of bad comments/issues about the i-Stop feature.

From what i read and understand, this i-Stop feature uses a high voltage battery to stop/start the engine.
Heard that it requires to replace every 1 to 1.5 year which cost RM1500 doh.gif and requires to do a system restore/reset.

Also heard that some mazda owners have issues such as i-stop not working properly/battery not charging properly/battery drainage/cannot start car after not driving the car for 1 week..

If it really requires to change the battery that often and it cost Rm1500, i think saving a little bit of fuel is not worth it.
I understand that Mazda offers 3 years of warranty and free service, but what happens after the warranty is over?

Hope some Mazda owners can enlighten me icon_question.gif

Thanks alot!!! notworthy.gif

For charging issue, I think you are refering to i-eloop. Mazda 3 using I -eloop to pair with I-stop for functioning.
Not sure about mazda 2.

the istop can be annoying, mostly i turn it off, so far i havent heard anyone changes their battery for the new skyactiv, unless its lemon unit which is FOC~

if u really dislike the istop function, after warranty, just change to any other ordinary battey will do, but istop wun be functioning after tht (told by SA)

Tested the HB version today. I'll summarize it in point form:-
- Love the handling of the car. Power is very decent for a 1.5L. In fact it feels more powerful than the Vios and City.
- Interior is really a class above the City and Vios.
- Exterior looks good as well but could be better with the LED DRL instead of halogen.
- Feels very solid and stable.
- Love the digital speed HUD at the windscreen!

The minus points:-
- Back is cramp
- Boot is very small for the HB version. Not sure about the sedan.
- The suspension set up is very very firm but could be due to overinflated tyres?

Overall, without seeing the sedan version yet, I find this car a better buy than the City and Vios.

About tyre pressure, the recommended pressure for daily use as per the door jam is 250 kpa. That's high. Other cars use only 220 kpa

NVH hard to determine with short test drive. Need variety of road surfaces to decide.

More straightfwd about the back space. Lets just say vios and city is FAR MORE spacious. But one can argue do we need excessive legroom at the back seat?

When the front seat was pushed almost all the way to the back, my knees had only about 1 - 2cm gap from the front seat. I cant recall how is it for Vios but City definitely had more legroom for the back passengers.

NVH was good. Very silent and feels solid and planted on the road. Tyres abit noisy but perhaps can be solved using Michelin tyres?

I have test driven the hatchback. Interior quality is fantastic.

Back space is really small. I would say its slightly bigger than a VW Polo.

Even a Myvi has acres of space behind. Vios & city rear seats are really spacious too .

But M2 rear space is really tight.

For anyone who have test drive the M2, how about the road noise and wind noise? Read few couple review from aussie, seem many do point about that problem too. Still can't decide on M2 or Jazz.

Just came back from test drive. Went over to the main HQ in Glenmarie. Both versions were on display, the Hatchback and the Sedan. However, the Sedan version is of Diesel engine (not sold in Malaysia). Test drive version is only the HB (white).

There is to my surprise, a HB version that was on display which is equipped with a complete kit (front bumper, side skirting, etc) and I must say that it enhances the car on a whole new level. The HB version that was on display is the red while the kit has 2 tone (red & black). The obvious changes are coated with black top and black side mirrors.  It changes the looks not in an extreme sense but more towards a subtle sporty glare. I also asked the SA and they are in the mist of bringing the kit. Estimate price around an additional 1.5k - 2k for the kit (aside than the 1.2k for the optional navigation system). Another thing is the carbon fiber!!! Its everywhere in the car. The headlamps, steering wheel, certain part of the dash board and also the door where the window controls located. This certainly added the feel of "premium -ness"

The test drive to my opinion was satisfying. Coming from a person who drives a CRZ. Bodyroll was kept at a minimum when in corners and road noise was not obvious. Acceleration responded well with no jerks/change of gears (must be the awesome skyactiv tech). However, when i switched to manual (dropped of gear) u can hear the car rev pretty loud (dunno whether is normal or not). Oh and the i-stop tech, it makes as if your driving a hybrid car while your car stand idling. Can't tell whether the engine is on or not =P

The fastest I went was 78km/h (wanted to go faster, but u know la how roads are inside Glenmarie). I'm 172cm and I must say, the front and back fits me perfectly. Although someone who is 175 and above would have difficulty at the rear passenger side.

Overall, for its price... totally worth it.!!! (that's only my opinion)

p.s. the so called "ugly" lamps ain't that bad when u view it in real life. It does compliments the car somewhat or rather. Of course having the original projector headlamps would have been nice.

Thought of sharing it in this thread as well.

In terms of handling, you definitely can't beat a CRZ given the car is lower and having bigger tires. However, I must say that the turning radius for M3 is way better. It definitely feels that it covered more grounds while making a U-turn or 3point turn.

Comfort and cabin quality surpasses CRZ by light years. CRZ has no soft touch within the cabin. Even the door handles are hard plastics. However, I must agree with Boy96, the wind noise does picks up especially when ur travelling above 80km/h.

Wow, which showroom did u test drive ? the route that was directed by the SA @ Glenmarie can't even lap above 80km/h due to the turnings and road curves.

I have not driven it yet but I agree that the cabin quality is really impressive. Photos doesn't it do justice. Some plastics although hard, feels solid but those panels on the doors, dash, gear shift, handbrake, knee pads, steering are real leather!

Thanks for the comparison with crz. Was eyeing the crz, it's even smaller, looks like great fun to drive with 6 spd manual but the servicing costs published by Honda then was very high! Hated Honda after one of their 3S center gave me warranty problems for not sending my car in every six months irrespective of mileage.

Went to showroom yesterday. Built quality is very good. The gadgets are top notch. Like the interior design and exterior too.

Down sides:
-no 6 airbags
-hideous reflector headlamps with cheapo DRL
-cramp back seat

Thanks for the tip!

Only interested in the 195/55 but their reviews are not too encouraging. The Michelin is like 1k a pc! The Toyo seems most reasonably priced but wet grip seems bad. Pity.

just tested m2 hb and placed booking for the m2 sedan red!

fantastic interior quality, nice acceleration for a small car with 1.5L engine, tackles corner quite well, high speed stability was okay for me (but persona does better), NVH was acceptable, didnt notice much road noise and wind noise.

car feels lazy to drop gear when i press on the pedal, but sport mode solves it nicely! I stop was a little annoying for me, aircond seems not that cold anymore when i stop was activated, when u try to reduce the aircond temperature, engine kicks in suddenly and feels a little jerky.

overall it was a good car! nice interior (the best part of it)!

SA recommended me a banker, he say must go through used car deal (as guarantor), and they will charge me for 1.5k for that?

I thought the seller n buyer both go to the bank, apply loan, wait loan approve, change name, get my money and then settle? hmm.gif

oh ya.. bro do u know the procedure of selling my used car to a buyer?

SA recommended me a banker, he say must go through used car deal (as guarantor), and they will charge me for 1.5k for that?

I thought the seller n buyer both go to the bank, apply loan, wait loan approve, change name, get my money and then settle?  hmm.gif

Everyone wants a cut from a Mazda owner. Tinting n selling your old car, buyers beware! It's the industry actually. If you scratch your Soul Red, another round! Better know your stuff first!

Assuming the buyer is taking out a loan to buy your car:

- Give the buyer a photocopy of the car grant. The buyer will apply for a loan with this.
- The buyer's bank may call you to verify the sale and/or to verify the agreed sale amount.
- Depending on the bank, you may need to send the car to the branch for visual inspection.
- Arrange for PUSPAKOM B5 and B7 inspection. The total cost for this inspection is less than RM100 IINM. You either call up the nearest PUSPAKOM branch and make an appointment, or hire a runner but you will have to pay for his service. You can discuss with the buyer who will bear the inspection cost.
- Deliver the inspection results to the buyer's bank.
- Once the buyer's loan is approved and signed, the buyer will need to buy insurance for the car.
- You will have to sign transfer forms at the bank or at JPJ, clarify this with the bank.
- After the name transfer process is complete, deliver the car and cancel your insurance. Remember, do not deliver the car before the transfer is complete.

If you have any doubts about the process, ASK the buyer's bank (not the loan agent aka banker) what they need from you. But the first thing you must do is give the buyer a photocopy of the car grant to apply loan first.

then the bank the buyer applies loan from will settle with your bank.

If there is excess balance you bank will issue you a cheque for the outstanding amount

before handing car over to your buyer make sure the name transfer with JPJ is complete and also make sure the loan with your bank is settled.

In your case, the buyer's bank will liase with your bank to settle the loan.

If the sale value is less than your loan balance, you will need to top up the difference. If the sale value is more than the loan balance, the bank will cut a cheque for you.

While you still have to handle the PUSPAKOM inspections, the banks will do the name transfer among themselves.

About selling yr car on your own, buyer must pay the loan balance first before it can be change name to the new buyer.

Let's say once you have pay the balance loan to the current bank and last minute your new buyer cancel off the deal, you will be in deep shit.

Therefore, hiring a second hand car dealer to do the formalities for you and act as a guarantor for your side. This means, they will pay on your behalf to the bank on the balance loan and will charge you additional 2-3k on their service/ or something like an interest.

This happens to me last year when I wanted to sell off my self and is it so troublesome. At the end of the day, I just traded in fr the dealer where i bought my car from without any suspicious.

Yeah exactly bro, I just went to ask few bankers and sa, they told me exactly the same thing, but one thing is when the loan from the buyer has been approved, it will be credited to the dealers account, then only dealer give it to seller, but if the dealer doesn't want to give back to seller, then seller will Gg.com liao.

I'm not sure whether this kind of case happen before or not, but one of the bank manager asked me to be careful of this..

The back and the bootspace

Exterior: Brilliant! A handsome car indeed. Would be much macho if they didn't replace projector headlamp with halogen headlamp.

Interior: The material is wayyy better than ford fiesta. Fit and finish I think its slightly ahead than Iriz. Soft touch.

Gadgets: There's a HU and Active Driving Display kinda thingy on top of the dashboard. The meter is futuristic and fit my taste. There's an iStop. According to the SA, i-Stop helps stop the car when you near the traffic light and the light went red. As for the HU navi button thingy, it is similar to a BMW. And if you want gps navigation you need to add Rm1.2k. Hmmm

Space: Im 1.68m and I dont feel cramp inside. And although I have adjust the driver seats and sits at the rear passenger seat, still doesn't feel cramp. Still some legroom and headroom. The bootspace... is small as expected for a hatchback. No sedan available yet in this showroom.

Safety: just 2 airbags. There is traction control. And other safety features I dont know...

Drive quality: no test drive available yet so cant say anything bout the drive quality. I told the SA to call me once test drive is available

Price: 85k OTR 88k OTR with Insurance. Monthly Rm890-90x.

Not much information though, just arrows. I'm hoping that MZD connect can mirror our smartphones so that I can use Waze instead. I Need traffic info, the Naviextras GPS in Mazda navigation is based in Here app by Nokia, no traffic info. Not buying it. Have to pay subscription after 3 years as well.

Yup mE too.. waiting for after market plug n play. Hehe

HB for me. I don't need the extra space. Sedan only coming in Feb, at least one week to do Puspakom inspection it looks quite bleak to get your car by cny. Heavy bookings at Puspakom so inspection is delayed:((

The Thais have done some mods to Mazda 2. They can watch movies, digital TV and if I'm not mistaken mirror phone using the stock 7" display.

I think I'd buy the navigation. The RM1.2k is added to your loan, how many RM would the difference make, spread over your loan tenure? You might not need, but when you do, it is there. Also when you press NAV on the commander you don't get that message saying "sorry you didn't buy the Nav option".

Looks like the Thais just connect a HDD to the USB port and pressed n hold the Call End button! Hope it's that easy.

I Use Waze like twice a week to check traffic condition. If this changes, then I'll buy the sat nav smile.gif

The maps are only updated every six months... Better download Here Beta on android and check the maps first haha. That big PJ roundabout might not be there yet!

If they have traffic info, I'll buy.

Don't you guys have GPS on your phone? Google maps? Waze? Sygic? Etc? Those are free/cheaper to buy and it gets updated automatically on your phone. Instead of having to update the GPS device separately

Brothers.

Before you decide to purchase the Navigation, please check with SA whether got yearly subscription.

Mazda 3 get free maps update for 3 years only. After that, got subscription.

As for the Navigation, I'm not sure M2 uses but M3 is not user friendly. Yes, you can get traffic update via connection to your phone but I suggest you consider.

It's a newly launched car not even for 1 month yet, I doubt will have any rebates. And according to SA, sales of M2 is doing very good right now, so I guess no reason to give rebate when sales are doing so good. You want rebates, you might have to wait for a few months maybe during festive season like raya.

Got my red HB yesterday. The only complaint is probably the paintwork, orange peel compared to M6. Driven normally it's smooth! Good pickup without having to floor the pedal. Sports will Rev to 4000 before upshift so it's not a good idea for now. Not as cramped as I thought but then I'm short. A bit short on storage space but who cares, it drives well.
Steering has enough feel at 110 and its steady. Bloody pickup truck made me do an emergency stop and there's no drama, wish horn is louder! Keeping revs below 3.5k there's enough shove in city use, not as sluggish as reviews say, can't wait to get it to redline. Should get under ten seconds I think. Suspension firm but can feel the long wheelbase makes the ride cushy. Really like the compromise.
Engine and road noise are there but at 110 it's not bad. Sound system is beyond my expectations but still need to play with the MZD. The HUD is floating around, only showing speed as I don't have the sat nav. Gotta go

noticed the orange peel effect in the showroom unit too, and as much as i like the red, that caused me to have some reservation about that colour choice
dunno is it happening to only certain batches
now waiting to see the white unit is flesh

Will it difficult to maintain the printed antenna after few years if tinted?

I don't know if you guys noticed this since no one said anything about it, but the little spoiler at the back of the sedan is missing from the above pics taken by Zai. For comparison, see this pic from the Mazda2 Malaysia microsite:

I heard from my SA (I've booked a red sedan a week ago) that we'll not be getting the spoiler. Personally, I'm disappointed because I think the car looks much better with it. Any way we can get it, you think?

Problem is, 3M removes 99% IR, so it renders our smartTag useless. Now I looking at HO which lets more IR through. As long as it cuts lots of UV, I'm fine. Raytech is ok, but have to drive slowly. M2 side windows are already tinted, so putting a 50% VLT security tint will fail especially the front windows which need 70% VLT. But surprisingly our M6 with Raytech has not been stopped by cops for the past year. But when the new tint law comes into effect I'm worried there'll be hassles.

Happy to report that the range on a full tank is 630km based on city driving. I refuelled at range reading 9km and it was 38+ litre to full at first click. City driving ave is 8l/100 km having driven 184km, ave speed is 31kph. Minimal iStop used. I'm getting 50% increase over my old Suzuki Swift if the onboard computer is to be believed. SkyActive rocks!

Hehe okay bro.. just confirmed that my supplier is selling this bulb.. will order.. Hehe

Update: osram brand led T20 is available.. but more costly, exact price not known yet, expected above 100..
Normal brand only around 60++
Yup bro I do notice that.. spoiler mmg don't have. Haiz.. is ok.. soon my supplier will be selling it. Hehe

Oh, good to know that we can install the spoiler on our own. But the brochure and microsite pics with the spoiler are misleading... Did your SAs inform you guys that the sedan doesn't come with spoilers when you booked it? Mine only told after I made the booking.

Hi All,

I am new to Mazda car, previously driving myvi but got stolen
Planning to get White color Mazda 2 HB(Having a real difficult time to choose HB or SDN and its color), since Mazda 2 Sedan is exactly the same except for the boot space, hence decided to get HB for its sporty looks.
Currently I am waiting for loan to approve and mostly will be getting car after CNY.

Some doubt/question:
Anyone has any idea, how much usually the maintenance cost for Mazda car:
1) Change oil & etc, normal service
2) Battery price & lifespan? - The best of my knowledge, Skyactiv uses different battery

Or another other things I need to consider when buying a car? smile.gif

Thanks ya smile.gif
Hope all the owner can share their experience, problem and their valuable thoughts smile.gif

1. Maintenance is free for first 3 years
2. You can claim warranty for battery in the first 3 years given that your battery is original that comes with your car during purchase

To add on the maintenance cost, once the first 3 years is done, it will cost you appox RM300-400 per every 10,000 km (depending on the wear & tear of specific parts). This is the given estimate by my SA whom I booked the car with.

Check with SC and ask them if can show your the maintenance price list for each 10k mileage.

My Mazda 3(non-skyactiv) normal service is only around Rm150.

Yea the variation betweem skyactiv and non-skyactiv differs alot. Btw tho, on average how much would they charge if you send in for maintenance (i would assumed that u've been driving ur M3 for quite sometime now right)?

Also, in terms of the batt. apparently the all new M2 uses a specific batt (YUASA) and can tahan around 2 years, if used diligently (i.e. turning off the MZD radio, aircond etc b4 shutting off the engine). The battery will cost you RM700 if needed to be changed.

and YES, you can replace the "YUASA" batt with a typical conventional batt. Just that the I-stop will not work.

conventional battery sure cannot support i-stop
at least EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) technology can support i-stop, and AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) technology to support i-eloop which not come with mazda 2

I was thinking of getting that too..I asked the dealer..but they have no idea also..

I was told by a SA that it wont be an option to add on in Malaysia, and reason why is that it requires a lot of modification both wiring and change in ECU.. Not just a simple swap unfortunately.

They said its to reduce cost of the car so that it can be priced at the current price

Australia also gets the same headlights.

I've taken Mazda 6 2.0 Skyactiv to my mechanic before and he's got the same specs battery for $380. Our M2 battery is smaller so should be cheaper.

What?! Booked December only get after CNY? So sorry to hear that bro, but it seems that the soul red is very very popular and bookings for it are overwhelming.

My SA told me that mine's in March (soul red booked in Jan), I told her that I'll be pissed if it comes in April when GST hits so she better deliver.

New technology naturally will cost more initially until it becomes a standard. Meaning every car manufacturer out there will have to start using these kind of batteries for all their models for stop-start tech (economies of scale). For now, it's only a handful of them. Eco engines just started coming up only recently in Malaysia so it will take a few years before it standardises (not sure if it ever will).

My SA said can claim battery within the 3 years warranty period but have to be mileage less than 20k.
Even the battery still functional, also can replace new 1, but only can claim once within the 3 years warranty period.
Any1 else asking their SA regarding battery warranty?
why so many different term for the battery warranty?

haha... thx for the convincing comments tho. But its really hard time to decide HB or SDN =.="
and getting white in the end. lol
I research online, mostly all about HB, very hard to get SDN reviews.

Question: if we change it to use normal battery, will it actually make the performance bad (as in fuel consumption, pickup, damage the internal skyactiv thing)?

Sorry I am not actually car-player, noob i would said, but catching up and learning. tongue.gif

I must say, I have very little to fault.. Very impressed so far. Yeah, no LED DRL but once behind the wheel all is forgiven. Loved my little Suzuki and considering I paid the same price for it ten years ago, this red beauty is miles apart. No rattles, good FC, six freaking gears and oh so smooth! No guts to try 6500 rpm yet but it already zoom zoom.

Gear change is smooth and kick down is quick even without Sports mode. Tachometer sweeps around smooth as butter that I needed to pussyfoot so that it doesn't hit 5k. The iStop seems smoother than the one in M6 2.0.

My friend who owned a series of expensive cars like Legacy, Mini Cooper etc was impressed with the interior and equipment level.

MZD lets you double lock, yet to test it out, and lets you automatically lock the car once you walk away from it.
Aussie reviews seems too harsh. Like they have such a high standard so that other reviewers don't look down on them. I'm Pleasantly surprised that the car is better than what they say,
Cons? Body panels a bit soft outside. Center panel where the gear lever is still moves a bit when you push it with your thigh. Back is small but heck, I don't want to fetch so many people! I hardly use the back seats anyway. Center storage not enough. Horn not loud enough. Tires hard to upgrade.

Thanks for the review and photos! Appreciate it. Is the headlight bright enough at night? How about the auto climate control aircon? Good enough?

For MZD connect, have you tested on other apps like Aha? From your FC figures, seems to be able to yield 16+KM/L, and I'm so impressed by it.

Thanks again bro.

just met my SA this morning and got good news and bad news

confirm first batch is 2014 cause they will use the date on the stamp duty of the car since imported from Thailand, cannot change this unless u want to wait for next batch, then will be 2015 but will be sometime in March

good news is i can get the car b4 CNY but it will be as i mention 2014 year and also not the red colour that i wanted, only Grey available, which i took anyway

so fingers crossed can get it by this week! sweat.gif

Just called neighborhood car battery shop, 55D23L MF dry type battery (Korean brand he said) cost RM280. RM680 is standard retail price. For RM280 I think it is reasonable. Normal battery cost from RM180-200.

another rare tyre case but i think after a while we should be able to get the same size

just need to wait for the tyre shops to bring it in

same like the Lancer 2.0, standard tyre used was yoko advan 215/45/R18 which was damn rare at the time, but now u can find it everywhere

just need to wait for the tyre shops to bring it in

same like the Lancer 2.0, standard tyre used was yoko advan 215/45/R18 which was damn rare at the time, but now u can find it everywhere

185/60 R16 change to 185/55 R16 you get 3% speedo error.

185/60 r16 change to 205/55 R16 you get 0.9% speedo error.

But 205 mm width I believe would make the car more easy to aquaplane, which is a BAD thing.

Aquaplaning or hydroplaning by the tires of a road vehicle, aircraft or other wheeled vehicle occurs when a layer of water builds between the wheels of the vehicle and the road surface, leading to a loss of traction that prevents the vehicle from responding to control inputs. If it occurs to all wheels simultaneously, the vehicle becomes, in effect, an uncontrolled sled.

Aquaplaning is a different phenomenon from water on the roadway merely acting as a lubricant. Traction is diminished on wet pavement even when aquaplaning is not occurring

Not sure leh. Change rim and suitable tyre size will it solve the problem? Based on our tyre for our rim is very rare.

Back to the tint question, base on your experience, which tint can effectively shield heat from the hot sun? Reading shows Huper Optik Ceramic 50 is not a good candidate for heat shield.

My current car is with Eco tint security tint (forgot which series) but it is damn good under hot sun. Can't feel the heat by putting my arm next to the window under hot sun.

However Mazda associated tint shop does not offer Eco tint.

i think the tyre is the one that will make the biggest difference.

What sanadi meant about the aquaplaning is based on the fact that the wider the tyre, the easier for it to aquaplane. but also depends on the tyre pattern and brand in the end

ya i heard ECO not bad but i think nowadays tinting got for 2 purposes

1 is of cause to block out the sun ray, ultra violet light, etc... which is the primary reason to fix tint in the first place

the 2nd is security, which to me i think is more important that blocking out 99% of UV rays but of cause the darker the tint the better la tongue.gif

the problem is usually the security type tint, wont block out as much as a normal heat shield type tint

Totally agree. Security is a great concern considering crime rate is high. I didn't know Eco tint security film is such costly. I think I paid RM1100 last time after discount for my MPV. Will go back to the shop to get a quote for Mazda 2. Until today I still think Eco tint is doing a superb job. Will update again once I have the price & model for Eco tint.

If you want Michelin for 195/55 R16, the only one available is Primacy HP. That one costs RM1001 a piece! GULP!

http://www.michelin.com.my/Products-Servic...Si=-1&sizeLi=-1

Other than Goodyear Excellence, any other suitable tyres?

wad about 3m ? from car tint thread smile.gif

Hi Sir,

For front windscreen you can choose our 3M Ceramic 75 series which have no problem with smart tag. And the side using Nano series.

Spec for Ceramic 75
(72% VL Transmittance , 40% TSER, 44% IR Rejection, 99% UV Rejection, 19% Glare Reduction)

Spec for Nano 70
(66% VL Transmittance , 50% TSER, 97% IR Rejection, 99.9% UV Rejection, 22% Glare Reduction)

The one with smart tag issue will be crystalline series which have very high IR Rejection which cause Smart Tag that using Infrared to work. As you can see at below the IR rejection at 97%, so you have to compromise the heat rejection with slighly lower spec film so that smart tag can be work.

Spec for Crystalline 70
(68% VL Transmittance , 50% TSER, 97% IR Rejection, 99.9% UV Rejection, 22% Glare Reduction)

haiz.. might be refunding my down payment for m2 liao..

because of some miscommunication with my SA..

My current ride (persona) was about to be sold to another owner..

SA told me that his loan passed and signed (because i asked the SA to tolong cari banker)

But who knows, the thing that buyer signed that day was just a confirmation form, and loan has yet to be approved.. and i ady paid for m2 down payment..

banker call me today saying that the buyer's father has very poor loan repayment background (kena special attention case liao), her sista (guarantor) have still unsettled personal loan, therefore his chances of passing the loan is very low..

If thats the case, my current ride isnt selling anymore, no point for me to have a new m2.. and selling off to dealer at super low price isnt a very wise choice.. haiz..

At least you still have a car, I haven't had my own car for 6 months aleady laugh.gif . If really getting back your persona, then drive it for a few months first, perhaps M2 will have some promo down the road and you'll get a better deal (hopefully GST won't have such a huge impact). If I still had my own car, I would've waited till M2 facelift come out, I think it will be much more awesome.

As my best understanding, just correct me if I am wrong.
All bank's interest is actually controlled by bank negara.
I think all bank is ALMOST the same interest rate as long as you are clean.

Finally, I decided to change it to SEDAN WHITE smile.gif hopefully can get car asap.

Dear Members,

This B segment SkyActiv Mazda 2 are so fun to drive, feel full enough torque when accelerate as a combined results of the Skydrive 6 Speed Transmission. Although some of the features are slightly run away from our Asian country but still better than Honda City, Toyota Vios and even Peugeot 208 & Kia Rio too. Moreover, that is quite surprised when you disposed-off your burden for 3years maintenance fees and the Sedan Version is another copy paste from the new Mazda 3 after a visit in Sg.Besi Showroom. thumbup.gif

Still waiting for my SA to confirm delivery date for M2 sedan white. I'm from Penang. Hopefully will get the car before GST implementation.

Just wondering if we can install proper DRL (eg: Philips' 12825WLEDX1) in consideration of iStop feature in M2. How about installation of 4300k HID? Nowadays a lot of cars are bundled with 4300k HID, hopefully won't attract unwanted troubles.

farmcow and pizzy, u only need to bring ur IC, if i remember correctly

do note this new JPJ rule, the reg number will only last 2 months, last time can extend by just paying RM10, but seems starting this year , to extend is RM210 doh.gif

haiz.. might be refunding my down payment for m2 liao..

because of some miscommunication with my SA..

If thats the case, my current ride isnt selling anymore, no point for me to have a new m2.. and selling off to dealer at super low price isnt a very wise choice.. haiz..

sad..
*
bro your persona is which year? berapa current value skrg eh? thinking nak trade in my 2008 persona also for m2

Hi guys,

I'm almost certain to get this Mazda 2. Still considering though..But I have a good question for you guys.

What are the impacts of the GST for new car price like this Mazda 2? Will it go up? Will it go down? Not only car price, how about insurance and bank interest rate for hire purchase?

For car price, a little reading shows that it will go down since current tax SST is 10% and GST only 6%..but in reality [read: Honda statement] said will go down about 1-2% only. I can't trust SA statement since they only looking for sales.

What worry me most is the interest rate..any rumour or statement from banks or Bank Negara?

I'm not desperately need the car now. I can wait. But the question will it worth? If the impact is severe (price up), I will certainly book my car now. I'm looking at this from a rationale perspective.

actually i dun think the price will reduce, even after removing the sales tax 10%

because the sales tax currently is charged only 1 time, at the point of sale of the car to us buyers

BUT GST is charged all along the line, from the moment the car reaches port klang till it reaches our hand, so how many % is that already?

not to mention if we add on other stuff like tinting and coating, all will be charged additional 6% now

That's why I said it won't have simple calculation 10-6=4. The impact will still be there.

Sun Daily
The Star

2 news sources said different thing.

SST: final car price + 10% tax
GST: final car price + 6% tax

But final car price for both calculation will be different. GST final price will be higher due to higher supply chain price.

more like

SST: final car price + 10% tax
GST: final car price + 6% * X tax, where X equals the supply chain

On the supply chain, it will be minimum impact due to CBU model? Because parts' supply chain does not being calculated into the gst calculation, am I right? The only thing gst taxable along the supply chain in my opinion is the logistic cost only..

How does GST affect the computation for car pricing (i.e: OMV)?

Ans:

Local cars
Open market value + excise duty + GST (6%)

Imported cars
Transaction value + import duty + excise duty + GST (6%)

----------

CKD cars subjected to GST along the part's supply chain = open market value
CBU cars does not, only final price once the car leaves the factory = transaction value

----------

Sorry for hijacking this thread for GST issue..LOL. but i guess it is related, isn't it?

M2 was just launched in Jan this year, it's still very early. My opinion in descending order - red, white, silver

But why ask for opinion, you should decide the colour for yourself just like how you will decide on whether to buy this car this sat. thumbup.gif

for those who had been confirmed by sa to get it in the first batch, have your checked whether they have allocated chasis and engine number for you? I think should have right in the system by now if you are going to get one.

My Sa told me otherwise, that its already in the system, chasis & engine number allocated to individual but pending to be release from port klang one by one. not sure how true is this, Hopefully some1 worked in mazda hq can clarify this.

No point speculating. Just wait for them to call you to collect your car. If can't wait then just cancel and look for a different car. I'm sure Mazda wants to deliver them fast, but they just can't due to circumstances out of their control. But yes I agree that sa should not misinform the customer just to close the sale, but knowing how sales work I specifically ask them not to f*ck around with me and tell me the what's the realistic ETA of my car.

1. Not enough compartment . I need armrest sad.gif
2. Car boot sensor show not close on the meter dashboard . try about half an hour only able to fully lock the car . if the car booth close well u will hear a beep sound . not sure whether only I face this issue. shakehead.gif
3. Foot area bit small
4. sd card read unsuccessfully. I thought is for entertainment media use , after reading others forum found that's for navigation update . whistling.gif

Your boot probably misaligned, mine closes easily with a nice thud. Don't even need to slam it.

SD card might be reserved for the Sat Nav only. Use a thumb drive, I use two brows.gif

Play with the settings in the MZD. You can lock your car automatically by walking away from your car without pressing any button. Just take one step away and it'll beep and then confirm with another beep and lights. Key must be with you though, haha.

I chose the HB for the short overhang. Sudden turn and changing lanes will be immediate without the weight of a tail. Try driving a Satria vs a Wira. Dynamics will be different. For the same price it'll be hard to get the smaller car though.

In Europe, parking spaces are hard to get, they park so close to each other that the bumpers even touch. And kids are expensive, they don't breed that many of them unlike the people here, LOL. So they don't need so much space?

Just some sharing...
Saw these just now at one of the mazda showroom @ bandar puteri, puchong (PFCC building).
Silver and Red sedan, both are parked at roadside and I believe is ready to ship to owner.
The white sedan is spotted inside the showroom.

Look like some owner will get their sedan before CNY. rclxms.gif

Btw, since the cars park to each other at close range.
In ur opinion, which color look nicer in physical when see it close up?

According to Thai version, which is identical to ours when it comes to exterior. Sedan gets gun metal metallic paint grille regardless of body color, while HB gets body color grille. I believe M'sian version should be the same.

I'm sure that can be fixed. Probably gonna ask the SC if the grille can be changed. If cannot, then should be able to spray it.

Wow just saw the black colour with red grille on the Mazda 2 facebook owners page. It's so awesome. Why we don't have it here? What's Mazda Malaysia doing?
