I tested the car this morning. Just a short drive around Jalan Ampang and Duke highway. My impression is that the car feels like other new Mazda with skyactiv. Feels light and sprightly and easily get to highway speed. Ride is a bit firm, but could be due to overinflated tyre, typical of showroom car. NVH is class average. The head-up display is very useful, becoz there is not analog speedometer, only small readout below the rev counter.
The interior has good space the front for me. Steering is from expensive Mazda, and your knee rest on soft leather ( or vinyl I dont know). The dashboard has good ergonomics, with not many switches, aircond control within reach. But the Mazda Commander control is a bit too far behind the natural position of my hand. Rear seat has some legroom, but cramped on the head. The width also will limit it to 2 adult only. Seats are leather with fabric insert. Feels quite hard wearing type, not the plush soft type. Seat back is thin, to give good legroom at the back seat. Boot for the hatchback is very casual. Average volume, made less accessible by high boot sill. Exterior is awesome, even in other color than soul red. Two tone rims is nice. Just slack the headlight is yellow bulb type like the Mazda6 2.0. |

I also went there just now..
Very very impressive. Wanna trade in Mazda 3 for this. Got sport mode, seat sensor, HUD, 7' Infotainment. Even the dashboard on the stiches is real soft touch. Not like Vios. |

QUOTE(Memories_Fallen @ Jan 24 2015, 12:52 PM) Sorry no white interior to choose. Only the black is sold. Yes I was quite disappointed too when they told me this. Lucifal told me to do aftermarket, hahaha. Maybe I will.Gonna post here on what I've posted in the other topic I went to the Glenmarie showroom. Only the sedan can be viewed there but that model is the diesel Skyactiv, so don't be mistaken. It lacks some stuff that the NA version has like paddle shifts. Oh the sedan will only be viewable this weekend only at Glenmarie, it will be moved to another showroom after this weekend. No sedan version to test drive yet at any showrooms (SA told me February only got sedan units to test drive), only the hatchback is available for test drive at the moment (specs for both are the same and don't mistake it for the diesel show unit there.) All in all, like what hkenh mentioned above, it is a driver oriented car. I drive alone 99% of the time, so I feel this is the car for me. Power and handling is good (for me at least), finishing is above par against the City (which alot people are comparing to), space of course not duh (but not a problem for me) I feel that the HB is more suitable for a woman, as it looks small (but SA told me that there's a sport package that's gonna launch soon to have black toned rims and spoilers and skirting with some colour changes, you can view how it looks at the showroom, so the HB with that sport package may look more viable for a guy who still prefer the HB.) Sedan will be the way to go for guys. As the spec sheet puts that the sedan is about 300mm longer, and the back looks quite similar to the back of Mazda 3 which looks better. I've booked a Soul Red sedan. March only can deliver, before CNY is impossible This post has been edited by GNR: Jan 24 2015, 07:21 PM |

Hard plastics and it moves just by pressing it abit. But that's the same with the mazda 3. The previous Mazda 3 had better dashboard quality I think. For 90k if u dunmind the space is smaller, its definitely a good buy, just wanna complain the hard plastic, abit cheap |

It is hard plastic everywhere no doubt. But there's plenty of texturing and trimming that Toyota and Honda designer still probably dreaming ( together with accountant). For example, look at the aircond vent on the side, circular type with silver and high gloss black, surrounded by 3D-like texturing around the outlet housing. The dashboard in front of the passe ger is multiple surface, with soft leather ( or vinyl ) with real stitching. |
