I think it is just for show as the Mazda 2 is not equipped with LEDs like the one in the Mazda 3, but hell, it looks extremely sexy even though it serves no purpose xD

has any owner here test drove the city but still choose M2? can share me your exp? im struggling to get get this or the city..the younger me lean towards the M2 but practical side of ask me to go to city.. how is the maintenance for M2 compare to the city?

Assuming you are comparing full spec City with M2 Sedan, I tested a Honda City that belongs to my colleague. Space width actually not much different. It's the roof height that makes the M2 feels smaller (my personal perception) and the rear seat angle may be uncomfortable for long journey ride. The boot is the smallest in class by Litre but should be adequate if you are not gonna put in golf bags or wheelchairs. I don't have any kids yet and is looking for an awesome driving experience at this price range. Honda City simply feels dull and boring to me but it is indeed the more practical choice considering the cruise control, 8 speakers, 5 years unlimited mileage warranty with alternate service free labor charge, and biggest boot space for a good family car. But I'm not looking for that yet.

I'm one of them, and I test drove both of them the same day at Glenmarie (Mazda and Honda are walking distance to each other and Hyundai if you are interested)

Why not test drive both cars for yourself? That's the best way to compare both cars and see whether the small space that people have been mentioning is really small for you. Some people are ok with it, some are not. Space lies in the eyes of the beholder. LOL.

Driving experience definitely the M2, but like what you've mentioned practicality goes to City. So it depends on what YOU want and YOU have to make that decision for yourself. Don't listen too much to what other people say, including me. Like I said go test drive the car.

Doubt anyone knows the maintenance cost now as all M2 comes with free maintenance for 3 years, but it is expected to be slightly more expensive than Toyota and Honda. In any case, it is still a Jap car not a Conti car so it shouldn't blow a hole in your wallet if you can afford the price of the car.

I have asked my mechanic about the maintenance costs of Mazda cars (based on history). I have no way to verify this as I don't frequently look into these prices. Mazda parts is actually quite long lasting so they are more expensive than the other Jap brands. Mazda is like the BMW of Japan. Toyota isn't exactly the cheapest but their spare parts very easy to find. Honda is in between Toyota and Mazda while Nissan parts are the cheapest by the book.

But then, if you buy car now, only Nissan and Mazda are the only 2 Jap brands that give free service (parts and labor included). Toyota lansi dowan give while Honda give free labor only.

Didnt try a City but I test drive a Jazz vs Mazda.

Jazz win in pick-up speed smoothness, space, maintenance cost.

Mazda win in handling and gimmicks(HUD,paddle shifters).

If you consider resale value is major to you, then its Honda for you.

To me i've been waiting for this car since September...so i was abit bias. Ignoring all the weaknesses on the mazda hahaha.

should be depend on payment date. Takkan loan approved liao, deposit paid liao den suddenly want to add 6%.

But the 6% will only be applicable for the accessories only (which currently don't have SST). The car base price RM78k less likely to change as the GST (6%) will replace the SST(10%). This is from my personal understanding of GST mechanics.

if im not mistaken Mitsubishi also got free maintenance, but cant recall for how many years

last time my Lancer was 5 yrs or 100,000km, whichever came first

Car's base price RM78,800 should be lesser if GST 6% instead of SST 10%
Accessories Package (RM6k), road tax, registration fee, number plates, ownership claim fee, handling & inspection fee, and insurance will be charged another 6% of each item? if the calculation goes like this way, the otr price will be around 85k

Oh yeah. Forgot Mitsu. But Mitsu only got Attrage that can barely compare with M2. I think I saw ASX got 3 years/100k km. Attrage and the smaller version of Attrage I didn't bother to check.

Hope they calculating tat way as u mention. But as from previous newspaper did mentioned before April manufactured stock once its execute the GST all the left our stock will increasing(GST+SST).
Only April 2015 manufactured stock will be replacing the SST by GST.
This is wat i understanding from it. Hope im wrong

Very simple to understand whether car price will go up or down.

First we need to understand the purpose of GST which is pretty much basic. The purpose of it is to COLLECT MORE MONEY from the rakyat.

So why would car price drop??? To me NO way it will happen. At most the current price will remain or GO up.
