guys, I just upgraded from wp8.1 to win10 latest slow ring build
I noticed the phone is charging slower, lumia 1520
FYI, I'm using 2A charger and charge faster than original nokia charger when I had wp8.1
Anyone experience similar issue? Will hard reset help?

just upgraded from wp8.1 to win10 TP yesterday
want to share my experience, especially for other lumia users out there with overheat issue

My lumia 1520 had always stuck at the installation process (cog moving screen) and then it shows low battery icon even though I had fully charged and plugged into charger. I even changed a new battery but still no luck. I had been looking for solution since the Windows Insider program for phone started.

The problem is actually caused by the phone overheated during installation.
I saw some posts in other forums suggesting to put the phone in refrigerator during installation.
It's kinda weird but I tried and it really work.
If anyone experience similar issue like mine, hope this will help
just don't put it in freezer

I had installed several builds of Windows 10 on my 640xl ( on latest 10586 now). Midway I had tested n successfully downgraded back to 8.1 through their restore tool
Probably the 640xl specs is too weak for Windows 10 . There is obvious lag n slight stuttering in use
Again windows app still remain very poor quality vs Android n IOS. Those who had never use android n ios could happily accept what windows is offering ??
*
sold my iphone and never regret
I invested and rely heavily on Microsoft devices and services
it really depends on what kind of user you are

my lumia 1520 on 10586.29 actually works pretty well
it seems to have no more resuming screen
and the battery life had improved significantly over wp8.1
the only complaint I have now is the charging is very slow even with more powerful charger, 4 hours for a full charge from 15%
I presume it's due to lack of proper firmware

Just checking if anyone have an issue with charging the phone after upgrading to windows 10 ? My 532 been having this problem (most of the time it says 'connecting but not charging'). Not sure if it's my phone problem or something to do with the OS.

I couldn't even charge using usb cable and pc/laptop since it does not detect.

p/s: I wasn't using the original charger though since my original charger was 'killed' by my 2 year old daughter.
*
the phone will show charging if I leave it there charging
if I use it for a while during charging it will shows the same thing like yours
and the charging time is extremely long, 4 hours for full charge on my 1520, changing to a more powerful charger with 2A output doesn't make any difference. I'm pretty sure 1520 can charge faster with 2A output charger when I was on wp8.1.
maybe win10m is still buggy or maybe our phone lack proper firmware
extra info shows im on lumia cyan, but I actually update to win10m from lumia denim

When I use cheap charger it came a warning that 'the phone will charge faster if you use charger that comes with the phone' or something like that. The thing is that I can't charge the phone anymore and it's totally out. Not sure if KLCC store sell any original charger (last time I went they don't have one).

To send for warranty, do I need to revert back to windows 8.1 ?

p/s: it's true indeed that windows 10 battery life is better than windows 8.1 for my normal usage though.
*
if you send back for warranty they will revert to wp8.1 for you too
most likely it's the w10m problem, not the hardware
if you really want to be sure, revert back to wp8.1 and try charging it

After few trouble shooting (thanks to the nice girl at Microsoft KLCC) it's not battery issue.  smile.gif I tested using one of the display phone battery and my phone turn on okay. My battery is charging accordingly when using the display phone.

So now, it goes down to 2 issue, windows 10 or the port.

Since I can't charge my phone (connected, but not charging) I kinda temporarily swap my battery with the one on display so I can do the rollback later at home.

If after rollback it's still not charging then I guess it's port (not likely though since it can connect and detect the phone) then must be the OS.

What I'm afraid if some other firmware related issue since this phone is also use by my young kids (to play games or just to test whether gravity works  tongue.gif ) so it could also be because of some hard abuse (bending etcs).

Whatever, cross finger and I hope the roll back works.

Any suggestion besides official Nokia/Microsoft charge and cable, what other brands I can use ?

Any particular spec that I should look at (voltage whatever) ?
*
port mostly get damaged due to overcharging, usually damaged port wont be able to detect any connection. most likely the problem is caused by the OS
my problem is just the same as yours
when I use wireless charging on my 1520 it also takes 4 hours for a full charge.
so battery no problem, charging port no problem, definitely the OS is causing such long charging time.

Ok. Last night I tried again, the phone is connected (I can access the sd card using pc).

However it does not detect when using 'windows device recovery tool'.  mad.gif I've tried manual/force rebooting still it can't detect the phone so can't do rollback.

Maybe because I was using cheap RM 15 usb cable. Going to find a good 'expensive' data transfer cable to see if it works. Any suggestion which brand I can buy ?

Anything that's sold in KLCC preferably.
*
it's best to use original cable, I don't know what 3rd party brand to recommend
maybe u should try to reinstall and update the driver

Couldn't find any original nokia/lumia/microsoft charger at KLCC so bought Belkin one. Same this, connected but not charging. One thing left to do is to rollback later tonight (hopefully I have the time).

Good thing is that my battery is not full thanks to KLCC Microsoft shop.  biggrin.gif

Ok, found this links.

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-217...ng-windows.html

http://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/plu...harging-345945/

I guess reformat and reinstall might fix the phone.

If I can't rollback then I guess I will try a clean reinstall on windows 10 and see what happened next.

If still can't.. then unfortunately have to go to servie centre lah.  sad.gif
*
I don't think reformat or reinstall will help, those links are talking about battery of computer/laptop
try to do a hard reset if you haven't done it after upgrading from wp8.1
and try to uninstall and reinstall the driver of windows phone
WDRT should have a "My device was not detected" button for you to click

One of the reasons I just flashed back to WP8.1 after using W10M nearly two months was the Edge browser drive me mad. For example website like LYN, you tap on a button and the text gets highlighted instead of the link opened. I am ok with IE11, just wish it could be installed on W10M as an alternative to Edge.
*
problem I have with edge browser is when I click a link on a desktop website, it doesn't highlight it. so I need to check the progress bar to make sure I did click on the link
and it is really hard to highlight certain text that I want

The beauty of W10M is Microsoft can issue an app update to Edge alone without having the need to update the whole OS, like WP8.x

That Edge issue is more apparent in .36 compared to .29 from what I noticed. Let's hope there's a fix soonest.
*
Edge can be updated as an app? I don't think so
so far all Edge updates come together with OS update, never see any Edge update pop up in the store

Guys , I bought the Lumia 735 earlier this year because I wanted to wait for Windows 10 .. I read that the space required is 8GB , is it 8GB free storage or 8GB internal storage because I currently don't use SD card and i have like 1GB left ..
*
it means 8gb internal storage.
1gb is definitely not enough to install an entire new os
I will recommend to leave 3gb-4gb of free space

Have tested the win10 on my Lumia 1520. A lot of bug which sometimes can drive you to madness. Facebook apps is still at minimum function. Camera apps seem to generate not so nice picture and quite often go crazy with pop up pop in menu, crazy zoom in out and switch front back camera. Dunno if this is win10 issue or phantom touch issue. Microsoft still need to prove to the world that win10 mobile can be useful if they can produce what customer want. To do so, they need to have a goal and not relay on what customer keep telling them. Compare to android, it still have a long way to go but whether their current customer are willing to wait until then is still a question.
*
no problem on my lumia 1520 except slow charging
did you do a hard reset after upgrade?
it's technical preview after all, bugs are expected

*
no, the only problem I have is slow charging
before I hard reset, it does have a little problem with notification center and laggy here and there
after hard reset, it runs really smooth
