Haha to counter that 1v1 you need to run concealment setup too. I did just that in Yamato (put all concealment skills and upgrades which reduces the spotting range to 13.5km) and can only be invisi-fired
- by full concealment DD
- when my ship on fire (the detected range become bigger)
- when I fire primary artillery
- when there is other ship/plane help to spot me (they themselves did not fire)
And with Yamato in this setup you can also do invisi-fire if you fire from range further than about 24km, though very hard to hit anything aside from slow ship that sail straight with broadside facing you (managed to do 7-hit salvo from 30km to another Yamato who sailed in that manner)

IJN cruisers can start doing invisi-fire from T8 cruisers (but have to fire from max range; around 15km++) and above(longer max range since can equip range upgrade) after equipping CE skill and concealment upgrade and camo. So to counter that 1v1 your own detection range need to be less than 15km

never care much about concealment before, now that you mention it, i gotta learn to maximize concealment upgrades. i only use maximum non-premium camo. what do i need for maximizing concealment (on a BB ?!!)

Tier 5 Captain Skill Concealment Expert, Concealment Modification upgrade, camo that reduce detectability. But take note when you choose to do this build, you might have to sacrifice some other useful skills, and you cannot tanking much anymore. I myself only did this build specifically for Yamato because its defensive and offensive stats already high enough, and the fact that everyone like to shoot at a Yamato tongue.gif

Useful to prevent invisi-fire. Even if you are spotted the cruiser will not dare to open fire unless they saw your turret facing opposite direction (otherwise they will get rekt instead; less than 15km is quite an optimum distance for BB main battery accuracy). Good surprise element when you move together with other ships too. I usually keep about 5-6km distance behind cruiser, which means enemy ships usually will noticed cruiser first, or allied ships will notice enemy ship first depending on who has better concealment. Once they revealed themselves then you can start firing and watch their formation break(especially when you are in tier 10 BB) tongue.gif

Also with better concealment, you can keep optimal firing distance while being invisible every 20 seconds (after you fire main guns).

Don't follow them to close otherwise when they U-turn you cannot follow suit. If you don't have CE skill, keep 8-10km distance tongue.gif If you only grouped together with other BBs, things could get disatsrous if DD is nearby tongue.gif

In high tier battles I would say before you charged in make sure allied DD is in front to help you spot enemy ships. I observed quite a lot of time when cruisers/BBs going into open area with no DD to help spot ahead, they will be the one who get sunk first

Finally done the CV damage mission. Using Saipan 3-0-1 config, lvl 10 captain. Just hit the opponent CV at least once per game and you can complete the mission in around 6 matches (in my case 4 matches since one of the match I managed to deal 31k damage to opponent CV; average damage per 1 dive bombing is around 12k)
