how is the job opportunity to work in singapore as a civil engineer nowadays if I graduated in NON-RU with second upper class degree honour? I heard that there're pretty much graduate from UTHM work in Singapore as E&E engineer. I 'm not sure about civil engineer. doh.gif . Which company is good for civil engineer to work in (good remuneration + high chance of being promoted) ?

Got job one. But you got experience or not?

Nowadays, SG companies need to show that they really cannot hire locals then only they can hire foreigners.

My brother in law is a civil engineer. What he said was on site engineers are in demand now. Not many people want to do it because apparently, they prefer to be in the air conditioned office. Don't quote me on this, just repeating what he said.

I am not so sure. Out of SG for a long while.

Fresh graduates sure harder.

Keep your options open. Apply for jobs locally and also Singapore.

Unless you really need to work in Singapore now. Working here first might also gain you valuable experience. Singapore can come later.

It is much easier to find in Malaysia as Malaysia has tons of huge projects on-going, KV and JB. While SG are mostly HDB projects and infrastructure (MRT).

If u are willing to work on site, it is not hard to find one in SG. Fresh grad salary can expect bout 2.8k SGD. But most likely u will need to work on Saturday. Consultant are harder to find, mostly requiring experience.

And one more thing, since some time ago they started the policy to hire Singaporean and PR first, all jobs will need to post at jobsbank.gov.sg for certain amount of time before opening to FT.

So-so communication skills only.

No, I didn't have that many friends or connections.

Just say that I didn't have much to lose. If things didn't work out, I can just go back to work for other people.

hi,

is construction still hot 4 years later? in Sg.
Is it easier with with mechanical or C&S? i only see singapore companies looking for Mechanical, chemical and electrical in my local uni, plus those ads posted on FB are all M&E , none are C&S, it looks like they have enough C&S.
is the salary the same or one higher than other? according to survey mechanical is higher on entry level while civil is higher average
I am majoring Mechanical but i find electrical and electronic subjects extremely difficult ... i am interested in both construction and machines but chose mechanical for better prospect.

sorry brother really cant tell you hows the scene like after X years especially in SG

M&E or C&S doesnt really matter now especially when u join main con/developer now they will really train you to be a project manager skilled in both discipline

i really wish to change to civil to escape the electrical subjects...they sound like alien language and not as logical as thermodynamics or force mechanic.

So if according to current situation, civil won't be harder to get jobs in SG? will the salary be lower?
