It will wear out faster if you have sweaty hands and if your mouse is placed near the window, with direct sun in the afternoons. A lot of factors can affect the rubber grip wearing off but no matter what, tear and wear is expected, even my PS2's dual shock analog sticks have worn rubber too but I didn't bother to replace them.

QUOTE(Naota-kun @ Dec 5 2006, 03:29 PM) need some recommendation guys. i want to change my 2 year old MX510 bcoz the rubber grip at the sides are wearing off. hmm how about razer copperhead or diamondback?big size alsoi'm looking for a mouse with similar size (i haf big hands), performance & price to the MX510 but does not haf rubbers sides coz obviously they'll wear off again. so MX518 is out of the question. any other recommendations? Well, nothing lasts forever but I would have preferred them to use leather instead of rubber, a touch of class what.

QUOTE(Naota-kun @ Dec 6 2006, 09:28 AM) previously before changing to CH, i used to own a set of microsoft's wireless desktop elite which comes with a wireless mouse with leather like the one in the pic...the overall feel is ok but the downside for the mouse would be the rubber at the right and left click button...they tend to "melt"...had that issue and it irritates me...so change to CH... |

I have used Mircosoft Wireless Optical 3000 before, it's quite an okay mouse, one battery could last at least a few months if you're using an alkaline battery, no complaints though. Of course, the Optical 5000 is a much better one. You won't regret buying it but make sure you feel comfortable using it because people with bigger palms might prefer getting those mouse from Logitech and Razer.

actually depends on the mouse sensor.
some mouses you can feel the sensor lagging, especially if you play low sens and drag the mouse very fast. cheaper mouses the cursor even skip like mad when you do that. |

i'm planning to get a new mouse as my current one has been worn off badly due to long term of usage. i'm eying on G7, mx1000 and mx3000. i think mx 3000 would suits me as it comes with both laser and AA battery replacement. any comments on the other 2 mouse? cause i heard the battery of those li-ion has a low duration time.
