will be visiting Osaka + Kyoto coming end March, anyone have any recommendation? and is there anyway to get a sim card with data (for GPS/ Google Maps, etc.) at lowest possible cost.

I planning to get Icoca & Haruka packages during my arrival at kansai international airport, but it seems it is not possible to use regular IC cards for riding the shinkansen and i am gonna traveling to Seta (Shiga) as my hotel locate there, so i have to buy regular ticket for shinkansen (tokaido, kyoto --> seta (shiga)?

3. and there is 2 card for Icoca & Haruka packages? 1 is for Haruka (Return Ticket to Kansai Airport) and 1 Icoca prepaid card.

thanks for the reply. for Q2, i am abit confused, the haruka express got service until seta station (biwako line, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biwako_Line ) which means i can straight to my hotel (seta station)? and the Icoca card is usable on seta (shiga) station to kyoto right?

I check on japan guide website shown as below, got 1 ppl said quickly leave the gates and re-enter the tickets gates at kyoto station? what is he trying to said?

i see, but it is under same ticket right? i mean i have haruka ticket then i stop at kyoto then go board biwako line (train), which means when i out kyoto station then i need to retain the ticket then go to biwako line show the ticket again.

i think you can book online to reserve the ticket, then go to the kyoto counter to buy the ticket, print out the email.

if i gonna travel from seta (shiga) to kyoto station, and only biwako line is available, is there any specific ticket or pass for this trip. as i staying in seta (shiga) for few nights, so will be few trip (go and return) between kyoto station and seta (shiga)

hi guys, the only way to take tokaido main line is to buy JR Pass? Can i buy a one-trip ticket on tokaido main line, like what we use in singapore/ malaysia MRT & LRT.

i think they started selling iijmio sim card in kansai airport (link below), although last time i went to osaka, they have not started this yet and i brought from BIC Kyoto Station.
