I travel to China so often now that Beijing is my second home now... laugh.gif

Anyway, goodbye Japan for now until the next one comes. My boss makes me a mentor for my colleague in Japan. So yeah, who knows I will need to be there physically in the future to guide her? laugh.gif

Nevertheless, my next trip is probably Europe, a business trip. smile.gif
*
For me business trip and leisure travelling is two different things. Sad to say I travel to Europe almost once a month.....but its Fly from Tokyo on Monday and leave Europe on Friday where there is no time to really travel around. Just only once a while I give myself the pleasure to extend a weekend to explore.

is buying rolex there cheap than kl ?

*
If you can bypass the GST in MY there is a shop in Nagano that trades in watches. They buy in bulk from Europe and hence even though the watches are new, the guarantee will start from the date that they bought it. As swiss franc has naik a lot recently their swiss made watches has also gone up unless in old stock. Check out their homepage, though in Japanese: www.jackroad.co.jp.

If you show your passport you wont be tax the 8% which is a lot if you are getting a rolex submarine!

I think can bypass the GST la...just wear on the hand when coming back, cannot meh?
*
hahaha...no idea. Possible can but they might ask you about the box if they found it. Rolex comes with a very nice and big box and I am sure you don't want to throw it away.

I spent 3 weeks in japan covered Osaka Kyoto Hiroshima Tokyo last November
Spent 1 night at Hiroshima visited okunoshima rabbit island and atomic bomb museum with 50yen admission. I would say Hiroshima would be really worth to go and I prefer Hiroshima more than Tokyo because the atmosphere there is slightly different. The museum is a must go because u can easily get teary eyed when u look at those stuff or victims belongings damaged due to nuclear impact lol. I stayed at toyoko inn ekimae ohashi near Hiroshima subway where the willer bus stops. Weekend they have 20% discount for member but I forgot to bring the card! cry.gif

I used willer bus pass 10000yen for 3days but I utilized it 2days for Kyoto to Hiroshima and Hiroshima to Tokyo. Spent overnight in the bus and it saved my accomodation and transport. Maybe u can try the Willer bus.
*
Hiroshima is really a nice place to stay actually, if you like the peace and quiet atmosphere. Tokyo is where all the action is. I have stay in Hiroshima for a few years and really miss that place and not to mention I can own a car with cheap parking compare to Tokyo! After a while you really get tired with all the hustle and rat race in Tokyo....or maybe I am getting old!

ok will do. rolex covers int' warranty right?

as for the box..i just put it friend check luggage can? different booking but same flight.
*
Yes its international warranty. As mention, they bought the watch from europe of some other place. Unless you buy a used watch from them, then the warranty will be by that shop. If not mistaken, besides the box, there is some standard booklet from Rolex.....cant remember what language as I dont read it.

haha..soo true too sweat.gif  sweat.gif

better buy local than..anyway one can share exp how much cheaper rolex sub compare to msia?

1k-2k cheaper? or more|?
*
As far as I know its RM1-2K cheaper. But over here you can find more model compare to MY unless you know the dealer and get them to order it for you. Easiest is you go to the homepage I gave which has a price and you compare it to what you can get in KL.

if wan to work in japan
wat is the level of proficiency required?

i hv beginner cert smile.gif
teach by embassy staff >10years+ ago
hiragana vs katakana is so-so, kanji is totally zero

got chance?
*
Well cannot say no chance. I dont have perfect Japanese not even JLPT Level 1. My staff speak to me in English and when I go out to meet customers, I have them do translation for me.

I know a lot of foreigners here who cannot really speak good Japanese but have niche skills. I even know headhunter who cannot even speak Japanese but he looks after niche markets. Some companies like Rakuten have position that does no need Japanese. You can go to their homepage and look at the jobs available and some does not required Japanese. I know a few people working there as well who speaks very minimal Japanese. Finally get your company to transfer you to Japan.

So there is opportunity but of course not as much if you know Japanese.

Looking at some cherry blossom reports, some of the popular spots have blue sheets while some (at maruyama park for example), have this red tables laid out nicely for hanami. Can we just go and still there (if they are not booked) or they belong to food selling shops?
*
About those blue sheets and tables you have to becareful. In Japan, normally people book a place there by putting the blue sheet or table early in the morning and then come back later. And no people will actually take it! But then of course you can ask around if its really ppl booked the place, or its free for all.

Oh really? But then as you work and live there, normal daily simple conversation should have been easy for now.

But then I really wonder how is it, I mean the life of working there.
*
Normal conversation is fine now...no issue. Just that business Japanese is totally different. Working life totally different from tourist or student. People are much more competitive here, and sometimes its really to break through the walls. At least I managed to change some of the culture where all my staff have already left the office and I am here replying to you!

dont bring msia culture there...
u will destroy them brows.gif

wanna ask, u alone there or with family?
i used to work alone oversea, really lonely

my life once a week after work, normally drink with collig there...
100bottles of heineken, imagine how big is the group brows.gif
20-30gals... 3guyz oni... cannot even reject (not boasting, this is real sweat.gif )
and there is a period more than half of my salary gone... almost everyday drinking

really depress tat time...
work and drink... no life at all
i hope your life in japan is not this extreme
*
I am with my family here. Also I dont drink much as well, so I seldom go drinking unless it is absolutely necessary.. But at least in Japan they dont force you to drink unlike Korea! I do play a lot of sports and with this get to meet lots of people. Here in Japan there are a lot of foreigners as well and culturally its very diverse. If you do stay here, its good that you actually know people other than your colleague.

back from japan yesterday...

itinerary is just a plan... if u travelling with 1 infant and 1 toddler... however, manage to cover 75% of targeted place to visit and manage to catch a few place with nice sakura flower blooming in nagoya, kyoto and tokyo...
can't wait for next trip already...

muslim travelling to japan won't have too much problem with food actually... unless u can't eat japanese food..

my regret is did not repeat my visit to muzashi sushi in kyoto.. nice place, friendly sushi chef, great food! and not too crowded..
*
Actually now Japan are also targeting Muslim community and have quite a few halal restaurant and even prayer rooms as well. My muslim friends do come here often for shopping and they always don't have problem with food. And I follow them for shopping as well, cause I can enjoy the 8% tax free. smile.gif
