aiyo...2 weeks can go so many places. Try google this :
Kyushu : Kumamoto, Yufuin, Mount Aso, Kurokawa, Fukuoka, Kagoshima, Miyajima, Hiroshima

Or,
There's a new pass just launched in March 2015 : https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/travel-i...ss/sanyo_sanin/

Maybe you can travel to the places covered by the above pass. I heard it's a good deal, can ride on Nozomi bullet train!

www.japan-guide.com is the best place to start. Read up on the area you want to visit, they will teach you on a lot of things such as how to get around, various passes, etc. It took me a while to make a respectable itinerary, but after that if you reached some roadblocks or need more detailed advice you can ask here.

If you:
- lazy
- can't plan for nuts
- don't want to headache

Then sign up for a tour and you don't have to do much.

But if you are willing to do your homework, you will gain:
- valuable understanding on how Japan works
- understand the area and surroundings of the places you want to visit, opening opportunities to gems/places that are rarely frequented by tours
- ability to be flexible during your trip (instead of being herded around in tours, and having to stick to certain timings. this means when you want to spend more time at a certain place cause that place appeals to you, you don't have that option
- much more fulfilling than a tour

i think i have narrowed it down like this
basically i will be staying in Osaka thru out the whole 2 weeks.

will be getting
7-9x 1 day subway pass for all travels within osaka (maybe substiture with 1/2days amazing pass)
http://www.osaka-info.jp/en/plan/practical...y_eco_card.html
http://www.osaka-info.jp/osp/en/index.html

2x sets of 3days of osaka thru pass for regional travels.
http://www.surutto.com/tickets/kansai_thru_english.html

and maybe slot in 1x sanyo sanin pass if wana travel further down south

I am with my family here. Also I dont drink much as well, so I seldom go drinking unless it is absolutely necessary.. But at least in Japan they dont force you to drink unlike Korea!  I do play a lot of sports and with this get to meet lots of people. Here in Japan there are a lot of foreigners as well and culturally its very diverse. If you do stay here, its good that you actually know people other than your colleague.

nowadays i oni drink once a years... too old for hardcore doh.gif
and i no longer play futsal, oni once in awhile i train for marathon whistling.gif
