Hi all, I had admission to hospital due to stomach ache. (It was very painful, even though I've visit clinic and taken many medicines..nearly overdose! However, the pain never relief for more than 8 hours..)

I did gastroscopy screening, blood test, and urine test. All of these result is not too bad.. no ulcer found and H pylori is negative. I've spent RM3.5k for everything in hospital..

Doctor advise and prescribed me 2 different drugs and for 6 weeks.. (Nexium 40mg once per day & Ganaton 50mg three times pre day) He also gave me two bottles of "Gaviscon" (twice after meal)

Based on the screening, he said my stomach "looks very reddish" and it would take long time gradually recover.. that's why he want me to take those drugs for 6 weeks, is it necessary to take those drugs for six weeks as he told me? These medicines aren't cheap as it come from private hospital.. (RM2 for Ganaton, and around RM6.75 for Nexium..) I guess I will need not less than RM700 for the "six week courses".

Please advise on my condition, many thanks for spend your time to read this post smile.gif

2 years back, I also have gastritis. To be honest, all the pills that I ate hardly have any effect. Mine wasn't very serious but there is discomfort throughout the day.
It finally disappear after 2 or 3 months. I guess it heal by itself

Do not eat spicy or oily food. Drink water, eat balanced diet. Exercise. I'm not sure if any of these help, but there is nothing wrong to adopt a healthy lifestyle

your gastroscopy screening means both endoscopy and colonoscopy? You got heartburn?

That doctor told me he only did the screening of "upper side of my stomach".. the bottom side is gonna go through "anus" and he did not do that as I was so panic before the screening... It was my first time being anesthetized, alone.. so I was afraid to do it.. Shd I do the screening at "bottom side of stomach" to rule out any ulcer and diseases?

My stomach is not good all the time since I came to KL many years ago, it was my own fault to have such life style.. used to be a heavy smoker, quit for few years but now I smoke again.. (2 years) However, I did not have alcohol.. doctor advise me do not drink if I'm a "drinker". I always drink plenty of water, exercise at least twice a week..

I skipped at least 1 meal due to personal life style.. never sleep on time..

Yeah if your pain still persist in my opinion. For smoker, the main worry is cancer. My friend just completed his chemo for his colon cancer (3rd stage).

"Colorectal cancer is the first most frequent cancers among males and the third most important cancer for women in 2003" - http://www.ukmk.com.my/index.php/article-menu

And you should shop smoking already lo. Cigarette when burn, has more than 7000 chemicals in it and at least 69 of those chemical can cause cancer nod.gif

My stomach is okay now, just bought those medicines for 1 month. Kinda expensive..

As I mentioned, I've quit smoking for years.. I started smoking back because of my ex girl friend, she was a smoker and I smoke again to prove that smoking isn't hard to quit at all. However, I keep that habit till now.. (2 years ++)

I want to stop smoking... but when I retrace or get back over tons of unhappy things in my life, I will smoke (I knew how moron and absurd to give myself such reason to keep smoking)

I also smoke a lot when go to "tea" with friends who also smoke..

Yeah environment will influence you. Perhaps it is time to choose 'new' friends which is non-smoker for health purpose coz even if you don't smoke, second hand smoker is worse.

Since your stomach is 'merah + teruk' I wouldn't recommend 'kefir'. Take the medication as prescribed and also have regular meals. Could be because of acid built-up during prolonged period of skipping meals.

what kind of advice do you looking for? or the direction of advice you are looking for?

nexium is a proton pump inhibitor which reduces the acid produced by stomach and ganaton is a prokinetic which helps to move food through.......

since i don't have the scope findings, i would say the doctor is thinking about gastritis and oesophagitis.

the doctor probably wants to see you back in about 2 months time from the date you saw him/her right?

I've the DVD of scope findings and the test paper result of H pylori.

yes, he want to see me after two weeks.. just press press my stomach, and asking whether any spot pain or not + asking about my stomach condition. For instance, "berak" everyday or not? Stomach bloat?

Honestly, stop your bad habits...

sleep on time, stop taking late meals, eat small , frequent and healthy meals...reduce/quit fried, spicy, cold, sugar-based, procesed junk/fast food....

Do you value your life?... No?..then don't ask how to overcome your ailment.
There is no special pill in medical that eat once and heals everything tomorrow...

As you grow older, the side-effects and previous ailment might return and haunt you.
START taking good care of yourself.

Have a good healthy and habit mindset.

IT is easy to get sick, and takes 4-5 times to get better. Gets more longer when you grow older.

Start today, if you value your life.
If friends are making you decide your life....start making new ones.
Your girlfriend/best buddies is not going to be donating his/her stomach , lungs, liver or kidney to you....

So, take good care of yourself. You have only one shot in this life....have a good one. Have a healthy one.

Make your choice wisely.
Good luck with your health brother.

Sounds like chronic gastroenteritis? I had this 2 years ago, and sucks for me that it actually caused internal bleeding enough to drop my HGB around 3-ish (I was hospitalized then).

The protective lining around your stomach has worn out, which is why the doctor said it's reddish.

The most important thing is to follow the pantang (no smoke, alcohol, spicy food, greasy food, etc.) at least your stomach repairs itself and not painful anymore.

Some supplements you can take to assist in healing:-
- processed sea cucumber for medical supplement (ie: Gamatol)
- raw honey (taken before sleep)

And most important try to keep yourself away from stress.

The use of clinical hypnotherapy has been proven to reduce pain symptoms and it has become a doctor-recommended treatment. You can consider hypnosis as a treatment option.

I use the neuro-hypnotherapy technique, whereby I can observe the brainwave going into different state such as delta, theta, alpha and beta brainwave while the suggestion is being given by the hypnotherapist during the therapy session. When your brainwaves are in alpha state, you may notice that your breathing begins to slow down, as will your heart rate and blood pressure. This stage of hypnosis trance stage can be used to control pain. Personalized self-hypnosis method will be developed based on the brainwave observation.

http://sciencenordic.com/treating-stomach-pains-hypnosis
Proven to be effective
In previous studies hypnotherapy has been shown to improve not only IBS symptoms, but also symptoms outside the intestinal system, as well as quality of life and ‘psychological co-morbidity’ – the knock-on effect from IBS on other psychological conditions.

http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cont...24/5/e890.short
CONCLUSION: Guided imagery treatment plus medical care was superior to standard medical care only for the treatment of abdominal pain, and treatment effects were sustained over a long period.

http://journals.lww.com/jpgn/Abstract/2009...nctional.3.aspx
Psychological and behavioral interventions were classified into the following 5 primary treatment modalities: psychoeducation, behavior therapy/contingency management, relaxation-based therapies (including biofeedback and hypnotherapy), and cognitive-behavioral therapy (including cognitive-behavioral family therapy). There was a wide variation in the quality and quantity of studies within each treatment category. Effective interventions generally involved multiple therapeutic components and included elements of both individual and family treatment. Psychological interventions that combine psychoeducation, relaxation-based therapies, and cognitive-behavioral therapy appear superior to standard care (reassurance or dietary manipulation) in the elimination of pain and reduction in functional disability.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19196096
Although effective in the management of acute pain and distress in pediatric cancer patients, the use of hypnotherapy in children with FCRAP is not a common practice. The current study highly supports the use of hypnosis as a part of the biobehavioral approach for this dilemma.

http://bottomlinehealth.com/natural-relief-for-stomach-pain/
The study, done by researchers from the Netherlands, tracked the impact of “gut-directed” hypnotherapy in girls and boys between the ages of 12 and 17 and young adults up to age 23 who had chronic abdominal pain. For this new study, the patients kept a pain diary. The results indicated that hypnosis may bring lasting relief for chronic tummy pain. About 68% of the participants who had been taught hypnosis were free or mostly free of abdominal pain five years later, compared with only 20% of those who had received standard therapy alone. Scores for headache, chronic fatigue and joint pain were markedly lower among the hypnosis group as well.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/23/...E81M22C20120223
(Reuters Health) - Hypnosis may bring lasting relief to some kids with irritable bowel syndrome or chronic stomach pain, a small study suggests.
Researchers found that of 52 children with the tummy troubles, those who had six hypnosis sessions -- plus at-home "self-hypnosis" -- were still doing well five years later. More than two-thirds were free or mostly free of abdominal pain. That compared with just 20 percent of kids who were given standard therapy alone. Researchers led by Dr. Arine M. Vlieger, of St. Antonius Hospital in the Netherlands, reported the results in the American Journal of Gastroenterology.

Similar to Sentosa price. Based on your medicine should be some minor inflammation only, right?

I got the quote from Pantai which is much much higher. shakehead.gif

This is expensive. It’s cheaper at Sunway specialist center at sunway nexis kota damansara. Package is only 2188 with no hidden charges, only additional 150 for dr’s fees. Brought my mom there for both scopes and very happy with the service. However, opt to purchase medications outside because their in house medication is marked up.

The cause of my mom’s stomach discomfort was found during the endoscopy so i think the dr feel there’s no need for ultrasound and xray. The dr was very patient and nice by explaining the findings of the endoscopy. We were shown the endoscopy photos and we were provided with CDs without additional charges. Btw, my mom is responding very well with the treatment and I’m glad she doesn’t have colon cancer.

Gastrointestinal bacterial infection can also cause gastritis. The most common bacterial infection that causes it is H. pylori, a bacterium that infects the lining of the stomach. The infection is usually passed from person to person, but it can also be transmitted through contaminated food or water. So be careful what you eat and drink. Because of that, I try to eat only at home and also bought myself a water filter, read here if you want to know what water filter you should buy.

I have been hit by indigestion for almost 6 months due to work stresses and poor meal intake in company.
I have taken 6 weeks treament using the best medicine, vocinti, ganaton and meteospasmyl but the gastritis relapse again.

So, I changed my job and take long leave. Then, I drink aloe vera juice and manuka honey to heal my stomach ulcer. Drink more those chinese soup that is good for your stomach. Breakdown your meal to every 2-3 hours.

After every meal, after the scope I’ve feel better but still occasional get bloated very badly . Sometime feel a lot wind on the upper left and can see visible bump but sometime it goes off.

Is this too much gas trapped?

I've been told that by my gastroenterologist. To relieve GERD is to lose weight first.
I did and i am all good now.
Good luck to you wink.gif
