Hi guys,

Few of my friends and I work in KLCC and stay around USJ/Sunway area. Our daily travel is:

house -> drive to LRT KJ/Paramount (easier parking) -> KLCC -> walk to office

takes about 1 hr 30-45 min on average and almost 2 hrs at night because we finish at around 6pm so traffic is f***ing bad by the time we reach the station to drive.

We're looking to move to Sri Puteri condo, Jalan Jelawat in Cheras since the LRT station is literally downstairs.

The drive in through Bandar Sri Permaisuri looks good after turning off the main haighway, nice residential area and it's own commercial place, but the immediate surrounding place in Jalan jelawat looks very dodgy with all the low costs apartments around.

I know nothing about Cheras, so I wonder if anyone here can tell me abit about the place?

Parents not too happy with me moving there because they generalize Cheras as a gangster area and high crime rate.

We also have 1 female housemate so she's really not too keen because of the generalization.

What's the demographic in the area like? Easy, cheap nice food? and any gyms around the area?

Cheras is pretty big, how's Bandar Sri Permaisuri to be exact?

Looks like a mainly family oriented place. is it?

tell your parents, you want your kid to have the best in everything, right? tell them to help you rent a condo in klcc.. the people there are generalized as high class and rich.

I live in Cheras and I commute to Bandar Tun Razak (adjacent taman to bandar sri permaisuri) LRT station on a daily basis few years back. I got lotsa warning about the surrounding areas due to the low cost flats surrounding station. I did heard the occasional random comments of cars being broken in, however I've encountered no issues at all or witnessed any crime in the area.

Nevertheless, just be aware of your surroundings especially if you finish work late.

Yeah that was what I was thinking. It looked ok in the afternoon when I visited since there wasn't anybody around, but driving around the block and noticing all the low cost flats got me worried. Plus for my housemate who's a female and regularly comes home after 9-10pm or so.

Luckily our car will be parked in doors. But even that short 30m walk from station to guardhouse looks daunting if its dark and rempits are around.

How's the commercial lots further out, center of bandar sri permaisuri? The one where the banks are.

Why not just move to Taman Paramount

there are a lot of houses to rent there

plus is a Chinese majority place

you can just walk to the LRT station if you don't want to drive

Tasik Permaisuri is also a known gay hot spot in Cheras. So don't be surprised or culture shock when you see some doing PDA.
