QUOTE(David83 @ Jan 27 2015, 06:44 PM) 2. If I do have to pay for RM 50 service tax, can I ask the customer service to refund RM 50 to me after April 2015? NO. Since it's not pro-rated. High chances that they will say no, but I don't think there's any harm in trying. It's just gonna be a 5 minute phone call. QUOTE(sendohz @ Jan 29 2015, 12:09 PM) Does this transaction still falls on weekends even if US posting date is later? Follow Malaysian timing. If you are aiming for the cash back, posting date does not matter. Refer to the FAQ on the first page.

QUOTE(joeaverage @ Jan 29 2015, 08:12 PM) Sorry for noob question but who determines whether the other card (apart from AMEX) will be MC or Visa when applying? You are the one who determines it. They will ask you which one you want.

QUOTE(kart @ Feb 7 2015, 09:05 AM) As of now (before 1 March 2015), which one is more worthwhile? - 12500 TREATS Points to offset Credit Card GST of RM 50, or - 14500 TREATS Points to be exchanged to RM50 Aeon Shopping voucher I have around 18000 TREATS Points. Like you all, I need to redeem the points, before Maybank inflates the point redemption. Thank you very much for your advice. You are asking whether it's more worthwhile to buy the same can of Milo for RM2.00 from Shop A or for RM1.50 from Shop B. It's kind of a silly question, because the two products are essentially the same (an RM50 discount). Why would you not choose the one that costs less? If you're talking about after 1st April though, that's a different thing. RM50 GST is set to be abolished.

QUOTE(~~5ive~~ @ Feb 7 2015, 11:29 PM) Actually what is the relationship between points redemption for voucher and GST implementation? I am lost~ Nothing to be lost about, because there really isn't any relation between the two. Inflation happens all the time, so the points redemption amount also has to be refreshed every few years.

QUOTE(awkc @ Feb 8 2015, 10:05 AM) Another newbie question since i can't find anything on it in the forum. If I put my Amex on my Apple iTunes account will it be a good choice? Will be I be charged additional for those USD apps and games purchases? coz Malaysian iTunes Store charges in USD :/ AMEX charges 2.5% on top of the conversion rate. Check out the latest posts here to get an idea of how much the overall extra charge will be. For me, the overall admin fees totalled up to about 3.5%. Therefore, it's only worth it if you use it on weekends to get 5% cashback. At least that can help offest the extra charges.

QUOTE(ZeaXG @ Feb 10 2015, 07:39 PM) Hi all, I just obtain my M2Cards gold. My question is on the T&C booklet, it states RM100 service tax is payable every year. But, when I signed up, the salesperson said only RM50 service tax is payable for 2 cards. Somemore say it can be waived upon calling the customer service center. So what is the actual service charge I need to pay every year. If RM100, I would not have wanted to apply for this anyway. To be honest none of this really matters anymore as the RM50 GST will be abolished once the 6% GST kicks in, which is only 2 months away. I'm assuming that the salesperson is not actual Maybank staff, as the RM50 GST is per card, meaning for these two cards you will have to pay a total of RM100/year. Before June last year, Maybank was kind enough the waive the GST for the AMEX card, therefore you only had to pay RM50 GST for Visa/Master. But Maybank has stopped doing this since. Calling customer service to ask for a waiver is possible, but it is totally up to the bank whether they want to grant you this waiver (EDIT: seems like Maybank is very strict about not entertaining requests for GST waivers). This card already has awesome cashback rewards and comes with no annual fees. So personally for me (assuming 6% GST wasn't kicking in) the RM100/year is really low and easily covered through cashbacks. This post has been edited by Prodigenous Zee: Feb 11 2015, 07:20 PM

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Feb 10 2015, 11:21 PM) That's the thing. It is totally not possible to call up for waiver. No reported case so far I stand corrected. I edited my original post to reflect this QUOTE(ZeaXG @ Feb 11 2015, 12:02 PM) I tried googling about the abolishment of the RM50 service tax once GST kicks in. Other than an article on the Rakyat Post, I can't find any other announcement from an official source (Bank Negara/Maybank/Royal Customs). Could you share a link to confirm this? Thanks very much. From the industry guides list on the GST website, you will find the guide on commercial banking. The relevant information is on page 5 of the document (page 7 in PDF). Although there is no direct quote saying that the RM50 GST will be abolished, it does say that the the GST will be charged on annual fees instead.

QUOTE(valentine1666 @ Feb 21 2015, 07:46 AM) guys i have a question for the sifu overhere, im planning to fund my forex account using maybank amex card, im just wondering will i get 5x TP since its weekend, is the any fees they impose using amex card? how to check the current conversion rate from myr to usd for amex? thx 5x TP is 24/7, weekday or weekend As for the conversion, there is a 2.5% conversion fee that is charged ( Section 13.5). Unlike Visa/MC, AMEX does not have an exchange rate tool that the public can use. You can check out the foreign exchange rate thread to see what rates people have gotten before. (shortcut)

Wah, some people want to cut this card because of the points inflation? Talk about overreacting man.. 1.25% cashback on points is still pretty good.

QUOTE(My0d3L @ Feb 26 2015, 10:27 PM) Need advice:i got my maybankard 2 in january and i was told (when i applied in dec) that i will get rm100 cash back upon swiping both the cards 3 times. But when i check my statement, i dun see the cash back? Will it debit to my CC later or i need to ask them abt it? According to the TnC, the cashback will be awarded 4-8 weeks after the end of the 60 days from your application approval date. Assuming you applied mid-December, your 60 days would have ended just last week. Meaning the cashback will be awarded within 3-7 weeks from today. If it is not there by May, please call them up as they will only entertain disputes on this campaign until the 31st of May.

QUOTE(drummerboy @ Feb 27 2015, 11:16 AM) Can anyone advice on the waive of GST? I heard you need to swipe 3 times on each card to waive it. I got my card is Nov 2014. But they charged me for the GST rm50 each card in february. This is the TnC of the campaign in question. Swipe both cards 3 times within 60 days of approval and you will get RM100 cash back 4-8 weeks after 60 days is over. Take note that this is technically not a GST waiver, but a cashback that will be credited into your account. Maybank is pretty strict about not doing GST waivers.

QUOTE(kinabalu @ Feb 27 2015, 04:19 PM) yaya.... MBB2 card give you 5% CB + 5x TP for weekend transaction. with the future inflation, total CB will be equal to 5% + 1.25% = 6.25% Combined it with Petron miles card can get with additional 1.5% CB so petrol can get 7.75% CB all year long for weekend. Can you elaborate on 1.5% CB using Petron Miles card? The website says it is RM1 = 1 Petron Miles point, followed by 950 points for RM10 of fuel. That is only 1.05% CB. Are my calculations wrong? EDIT: Found what you were referring to. Silly me, didn't notice that the cashback was different for the different redemption tiers. Max one is 3000 points = RM45, which is 1.5% CB. Apologies. QUOTE(kyu85 @ Mar 3 2015, 10:52 PM) ow... so i need to call the card center whenever i trying to pay with AMEX via paypal? To be precise: you have to actually fail the payment first before calling them to unblock it. This whole process is very annoying, because once the card is rejected PayPal doesn't show the card anymore. So the whole process becomes: attempt payment -> fail payment -> call Maybank -> back button on browser a few times -> reenter PayPal payment screen

QUOTE(vk_6qu @ Mar 6 2015, 01:41 PM) I hv > 600 entries, but win nothing. I noticed someone "lucky" one got lesser chances but wil grand prize. Apparently the prize is internally determined. Already write a letter to complain and they replied they will investigate. Please write a letter to them if you are not satisfy with the result. Alteast let them know we are not stupid. I'm not sure what grounds you have to file a complaint. It's mentioned in the TnC that the winners are selected at random, not based on the amount of entries. Sure, having more entries increases the chances of winning, but it doesn't guarantee anything. If there are a million eligible entries, your 600 entries barely scratches the surface. The problem with contests like these is that the bank will never disclose the entire list of eligible entries. Therefore as consumers we will always be at a disadvantage, as the contest is not transparent.
