what happens to GST charge after 1st April? there's no more RM50 right?
*
that's the idea.

The GST (Goods and Services Tax) will then be taxed on goods and services that you buy/pay for, regardless if you have credit card or otherwise.

feeling that mbb services are becoming more incompetent..

my statement date is on the 3rd of every month, called in on the 31st jan to request for a chg to the 28th of every month... the cust serv told me takes 7 working days, it will take effect this month - means statement will be on 3rd of february, followed by 28th of february..

called again just to double confirm, they tell me still yet to change.. next statement is 3rd of march, then 28th of march... 1 month still haven't change..

anyone can enlighten me on the standard procedure on how long will the change of statement date take effect? can't plan my expenses wisely if i don't even know when will the statement date take effect

I'm not sure if I should upgrade my card now? I'm just afraid it will charge the Government Service Tax RM 50 to my new upgraded cards right after it is approved. Or should I do it after 1st April? unsure.gif

My current combo's anniversary is in April (embossed on my card). So, should I upgrade it now or no?

I'm very confused with this new GST thingy for credit cards.

So far I only attended GST trainings for HR practitioners. blush.gif

that's pretty weird, mine change on the next statement cycle itself.

my initial statement date is on the 18th, i call in somewhere around Xmas time to request for change to 21st. told me the change will only be reflected in my Feb statement as it requires 30 days for activation. But to my surprise the new date was reflected in my January statement.

not sure if they change the SOP but mine was definitely very quick.

if i'm not mistaken, the service charge on credit cards was first introduce by the gov to prevent people from simply applying for credit card and collect debt. abolishing it during gst would defeat the purpose.

but again, who knows. lol

Well, abolish Government Service Tax but most of the goods/services we will be paying regardless via cash or credit card will have Good Service Tax. So, it could be we will pay more than RM 50...

Finally, my Maybankard 2 platinum had been approved.

Before i apply for this card, i noticed is very difficult for ppl like us working in SG and earning SGD currency to apply for this card or most of them only approve for GOLD card.

I also thanks some member in this forum for advice me not to apply through agent but direct walk in to the branch to apply.

I'm just graduate from SG uni and start working in SG less than 6 month,my monthly income is above SGD 3K. I had a car loan with PBB which just bough 3 month ago.

Before I apply for Maybank credit card, I had applied CITIBANK CASH BACK through my secondary school friend which is an agent, however my HR does not willing to help me on employee verification and therefore the process stuck there and i did not get the card.

Later on, I try to apply for HSBC VISA PLATINUM by tele marketing but unfortunately after nearly 1 month of waiting, my application was rejected.

The friday before chinese new year, I walk in to MAYBANK Citi Square,JB branch to place the 4.13% CNY FD Promotion and the banker upgrade me to Maybank Aspire status. I also apply credit card through her and pass her my 3 months salary payslip and 3 months bank statement.

At first she just help me to tick the gold card column and i request to tick for the platinum as well. At the same day, Maybank KL call me to verify my email and my malaysia hp number and ask me wish to collect at branch or deliver by courier service.

After 1 week, no news.

I decide to called the card center yesterday to check my application status and the cs told me was still under in progress. The cs also told me that i was only apply for the gold card ONLY, i then tell the cs i wish to try platinum first,if cannot then only apply for gold, he ask me my annual income over the phone and i told him was about 38-40k SGD, he say ok, will try for platinum first. I told him i need this card this week as im going oversea next week, i need this card for my oversea expenses.( which is not true, just to find a excuse to make them feel the urgency). The cs then told me that he will expedite my application.

After 24 hours, when this morning i log in to my M2U, the platinum card was approve and finally i get my first credit card in my life.

Conclusion:
For those who working in SG, apply through branch may have higher chances.

To make sure the banker apply the correct card that you wish, please call card center to double check.

If you want the result faster, can always call the card center and give them any valid reason under the sky.

P/S: Talk to them nicely is important, we are all human being.
