Wifi was slow for 2 days until all device disconnected, restarted modem and it can work for roughly 10min-1day, then cannot connect again. Don't want to go through all this trouble to restart.

looking for replacement modem for unifi.
mikrotik looks so advance, do i need all those features?
*
That is the router you are taking about, not the modem.

It's harder for the older generation to pick up on tech stuff lol

Can someone shed some light on this?

Existing VIP 5, 10 and 20 packages have unlimited free land line calls and 10 sen/minute for mobile calls.

New Unifi 30 and 50 packages have done away with the unlimited free land line calls, and on top of that,
has increased the call rate to 20 sen/minute (21 sen with GST) for both land line and mobile calls.

I am not aware that there is any option of unlimited call add-on for an additional fixed fee.

Thanks all for the inputs. Much appreciated.

Will stick to VIP 10 for the time being.
*
That's a very good decision.

Don't compromise on reduced upload bandwidth. It is not worth it.

You advised ppl to stick with their current VIP10 and VIP 20MB?
*
Yes.

Both VIP10 and VIP20 offer synchronous (same) upload/download bandwidth.

I don't understand why TM sees a need to reduce the upload bandwidth for no apparent reason in their new offerings.

Because a lot ppl run home business using home package.

For example like me, I'm providing small web hosting for small customer tongue.gif

That why they implement this and give more cheaper.

So I think for business package they will be expansive plus same download/upload speed.
*
If you are offering web hosting facilities to your customers, all the more reason why you would need a higher upload bandwidth. biggrin.gif

Is that statistic based on people who have 5,10,20 Mbps or more upload bandwidth or mixed with people who only have typical 1+Mbps DSL upload bandwidth?

If people have a glut/big upload bandwidth and didn't use it all then fine. But if they only have 1+Mbps upload, even if they want to use more, they can't. And perhaps they would be using more upload bandwidth if they had it?

Hahahaah! Very true. biggrin.gif

what i am trying to tell here.. for normal consumer just do download.. streaming.. 5Mbps upload more than enough. lets say you want to upload 1GB of file to your dropbox.. and your upload speed is 5Mbps.. in kBps it will translate to 625kBps.. but this perfect scenario. let say you only able to get 80% of your upload speed.. your speed will become 500kBps. so for 1GB file, actually with constant speed, you need ~35 minutes. still acceptable for me..

the asymmetric offering is normal for europe broadband offering due to ISPs want to differentiate the consumer internet with premium internet. if you want to host a server.. deploy your SIP infra.. better pay for the premium internet..
*
Just consider my case only lah.....

My son hosts a Minecraft server 24/7, with simultaneous users peaking at around 200+ at times.

That measly 5Mbps upload bandwidth is not enough.

Not to mention that I always seed my torrents (which I limit to 1Mbps). I don't just leech. biggrin.gif

You will get your upgrade eventually.

It is just a question of WHEN. biggrin.gif
