Everything done at the backend in their system only. No termination required but they will lock you up with another 24 months contract, UniFi phone and account number will be the same.

You upgrade from 10 to 30mb? I need to go personally TMpoint to upgrade?

Is it true the 30mbps offer will not include the free calls that were available in vip packages? If so, is there an add on for it?

I remember there was an additional RM 12 for the caller plan.
But it's still not free though, just cheaper rate only.

Just came back from TMPoint, restarted router and bam upgrade completed to UniFi 30.

First speed test result, download seems good, ignore the upload speed as my router QoS is limiting it.

hows the real download speed? hitting 4MB/sec at IDM?

any info on new subscriber? thumbup.gif

Why need to terminate when they were the one blasting email to most of its subscribers to upgrade? sweat.gif

I'm waiting for them to call me and since it's Raya now, pretty understandable. I can't wait to upgrade my 10Mbps to 30Mbps. rclxm9.gif

Just hope they won't forget about calling me. laugh.gif

Isnt that for copper only with max speed of ADSL2+ @24 Mbits? So how to offer 50/100/1000 Mbits?
Is the fiber network that TM is building now to offer >24Mbits part of that? I don't think so.

By the time they unbundle the copper network, I believe TM would have covered all the major cities with fiber to offer speeds in excess of 24Mbits that they control. Sure, ADSL prices will drop then but it will be like a 1 Mbits Streamyx user today versus people who are on 10/20 Mbits Unifi?
*
the llu they mention in article was for a copper adsl example. you can ignore the copper adsl, and replace with fiber. the concept works for that more or less. technology is different in some areas like copper adsl is very limited by range. ftth isn't.

point is the policy from llu to give isps greater accessibility to the network to use their own hardware to offer customized services and for cheaper.

Yes I changed from VIP10 to UniFi 30. Yes need to be at any TMPoint if you don't want to wait for any calls from them on this.

Quite consistent at 3.0MB/s with occasional burst to around 3.5MB/s.

This is one of strange upgrade, that need subscriber to terminate before getting newer package.

We don't live in a perfect world. In a perfect world, perhaps TM would not have been appointed to build the fiber network. Perhaps an independent infrastructure builder (non telco) would have been contracted to do the job. And when it was completed, all ISPs would be able to gain fair and open access to it and be in real competition.

In reality, TM is the one that has built/is still building. So, its probably prudent to not expect things to work like it would in a perfect world. So far they have done a pretty ok job I think...

yes that may have been (sadly) required in order to build the hsbb. but now that is more or less built, is there any strong argument to keep the status quo ? we no longer have the last mile issue or even the international (undersea cable for bandwidth) issue.

so isn't it about time we open up ? hmm.gif thats my question.
