Hi!

Good day!!!

Any idea how much is a new 40mm Day-date platinum cost?

My friend told me that Rolex do not accept any Sub-sale Rolex watches for service & repair. Is it true?

The reason is Rolex will register the ownership during the purchase. If you bring a sub-sale Rolex watches to Rolex service centre, and your name is not the same as the watch registration, they will not accept. Is it true?

Thanks

No. They will service it as long as its original.

Been contemplating on purchasing Mondani books for awhile now as I've not been able to see the contents and also they're not cheap either. Decided to bite the bullet with my first copy of the 'Steel Rolex' and I'm happy to say I'm pretty pleased with the amount of images and information that's been gathered. It's well sized especially for a coffee table book and the print is sharp and the colours are vibrant.

Definitely learnt a lot from it as I've not seen so many unusual vintage rolex, captured in detail. This issue has also included models from Baselworld 2016 and the usual current models as well. I particularly liked the write up on military rolexes and seeing different engravings on the back cover. From a book design stand point, it is well laid out and has enough variance in the layout to keep your interest going. It breaks down the monotony by introducing facts, stories, collage of photos and detailed shots.
I'm not a WIS so I do find some information a bit much for casual reading but I suppose that's good for some. I just enjoyed drooling over the photos instead.

Overall I'm pleased and worth saving up for. I'll be looking forward to other Mondani books especially the Sub and GMT Master editions.

As usual the obligitory photos.

Looks like the Home Office Border force is pretty keen to see what's in the box. Never had a package inspected before and this is a first for me. There're couple of knocks and tear on the side packaging but it seemed pretty robust and wasn't worried for any damages.

Package is very well packed with padding all around, top, sides and bottom. The book is also protected by a cardboard slip.

The Steel edition comes with free Tshirt, a nice gesture.

Mondani included a few other bits as well. A Steel Rolex price guide, Mondani collection of Vintage Rolex, a large A2 catalogue foldout and the membership card. (I got to read up to see what the perks are)

Thanks for sharing Kelvw and nice pictures indeed. I thought about buying the book(s) as well, but they are so expensive after conversion that I just had to pass! Did you get them during a sale period? If not, you should keep an eye out for year end sale to complete the set.

r3kahsttubjsflim thanks!

They are bloody expensive but I think it is worth it in the library if you're big rolex fan. Some of the stuff i've never seen before are all in the book.
i got them in the sale but even that it's still pretty expensive at 252 Euro. I'm thinking of the Sub and GMT book next but got to save up first.

Not in mint condition, some oxidation on hand near luminous part, minor dents on acrylic glass visible when tilted against light reflection, minor scratches, but good enough considering it is over 40 years.

Give a call to Woo Hing how much they can offer when SWG giving 8%, another shop of course Gurney. I dare not go for Grey even it could be cheaper overseas. I was told London is cheaper by my friend but with the current currency, it is hard to predict.

Is it true london still cheaper after vat refund? Considering now pound is around 5.4. Will it be cheaper there? Anyone experienced?

It is for this precise reason that the grey market can demand an asking price of 40K. They are all at cahoots with each other if you ask me.

yes true. I feel like AD doesn't really care much about it. It likes the watch will never come. sad.gif
Besides, wingwah sells it at 41.8k. sweat.gif

Said it before, but I'll say it again. AD does not care, especially not for popular steel models like that. It will still shift for above retail, and I promise there is a very very low chance of you ever getting a call. I've been on "waiting list" for some watches across several places for years now (think 4-5 years) and still no call. There are exceptions to these cases (sorry, I cannot share) but grey is probably your best bet. Just have the find the most reasonably priced grey dealer, imo.
