QUOTE(privatequity @ Oct 14 2021, 01:30 PM) I think you did not understand my question. I was asking IF it is better to buy from shops who have buy-back policy, or it doesn't make much difference? I'm asking, not expressing. eg. There are shops who offer that, for eg. for pre-owned watches, Wing Wah offers buy-back at -15%. There was a shop at 6th Floor of Times Square that offers 90% buyback price for Rolex. If not mistaken, it's called Swiss Hour. They used to be quite up to date with their items list in Mudah. Not sure if they survived MCO or not. I haven't been there for years.

QUOTE(privatequity @ Oct 15 2021, 12:01 AM) thanks for the heads up. would want to clarify, the buy back -15%, is it based on the purchase price of the watch or the market price of the watch? If bubble burst, if lets say the buy back policy is at -15% of purchase price. if market price goes lower, I can sell it back to the shop, and buy another one at low market price? All your questions should be directed at the shop owner. There is no standard buyback policy. It is decided by shop owner. Worth it or not, you'll have to sendiri decide after they give your the full terms & conditions. This post has been edited by alternativehype: Oct 15 2021, 12:35 AM

QUOTE(dexmah @ Nov 2 2021, 07:51 AM) Was wondering any idea where can i sell old Rolex and Omega watch? I google and it shows Wing Wah in SS14. Anywhere else? so many places. 6th floor Berjaya Times Square got a few shops. Amcorp Mall got. Publika got. I got a tip on how to find these shop. Open Mudah, search Rolex. Search for sellers info. Good luck Obviously, you'll get more money back if you sell it yourself This post has been edited by alternativehype: Nov 2 2021, 08:52 AM

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Nov 3 2021, 12:05 PM) some ppl don like being taken advantaged on, especially in monetary. Cos u buy new car, u sign oledi 20% RV drop lol. Most businessman and chinese foochow only buy used car. Cos ppl don really care wat car u drive end of the day. u buy 1 lexus used, it is still a lexus lol. no ppl will ask u when u buy ur lexus or what. ppl will only see this guy driving lexus. as long as sendiri satisfy sendiri punya wants and needs. Agree. Same principle applies with watches. Some willing to pay premium to grey, some die die will not bcos feel like sorhai kena game Some see Rolex as die die must have, some see Rolex owners as sorhai pay 50k for an item that only function is to tell time That's the beauty of life, innit!... it's crazy how people see Rolex as a need, not a want. No Rolex, won't die wan!
There is more in the watch world apart from Rolex.
But you're right, willing buyer willing seller. This is why greys can survive and thrive.

QUOTE(kitchong @ Aug 27 2022, 04:04 PM) Hello all. My late father owned a Rolex Datejust 16263. Recently I noticed the crown of the watch was pulled out till level 2, where the second hand stopped, but I am not sure how long it has been pulled out. My father kept it in a small bag inside a Tupperware container. My concern is that since the crown has not been screwed down to keep the watch air tight, is it possible for moisture to go in causing rust in the movement? The bracelets and case are all intact though. I have sent the watch for service, my late father probably didn’t service it for 25+ years, he hardly wears it. I worn the watch for a day and it worked nicely. I am worried about movement getting rust inside since the crown was left pulled out for an unknown period. Can someone share your opinion and experiences? since already service, why worry? unless you don't trust the service center. was it Rolex or bawah pokok workshop?... owai service means open case back, check for faults in the movement, re-oil....

QUOTE(kitchong @ Aug 27 2022, 05:11 PM) Service takes 3-4 months. Definitely authentic Rolex. I sent to Menara Dion. I am asking the above question out of curiosity and for peace of mind sake. Appreciate your reply. Service by Rolex comes with 2 years warranty. If you don't feel assured from Rolex, I don't think anyone else can give you better...

QUOTE(kitchong @ Aug 27 2022, 06:55 PM) Thank you for your reply. Perhaps I did not phrase my question properly. I am concerning ‘if the crown is not screwed down for prolonged period, is it possible for moisture to get into the movement causing rust inside?’ Due to the above concern, I sent the watch for service. The service is still in progress, but whenever I think of the above I get anxious, because I am not a rich person who can afford additional cost to repair a Rolex. The watch belongs to my late father. ahhh, the service is still in progress... changes the whole situation then. yes, there is the risk that moisture will get inside. in my experience with Rolex, any part that compromises the full functionality of the watch will be changed. whether they ask you before hand or not, that depends what you asked them to do. just regular service or did you disclose to them that the watch was left exposed for long period of time and you ask for overhaul?

QUOTE(rx330 @ Jul 8 2023, 10:11 AM) no more authentication service at RSC but u can send it for a service, if they come back with you on a quote, then you should be fine betul. the girls at the customer service counter will do first assessment of the watch. if they think it's fake, terus inform customer tell them to quickly take and cabut. tak masuk technician workshop pun.

QUOTE(kens88` @ Jul 8 2023, 10:07 PM) You mean I will bring the watch to the rsc and ask to service. Then someone will check it and quote me for the service. How long does this process take? So it's basically free right? It's just asking over the counter. Should only take a few minutes.

QUOTE(terence8 @ Jul 18 2023, 02:12 PM) Do anyone bought watch from Watchcraft Amcorp mall? i saw there are many watch shop in amcorp mall as well, not sure of the credibility I bought my Explorer 2 from them back in 2016. Their pieces are not the most pristine but prices are probably the cheapest. I did my homework to check prices of all the sellers in Time Square, wing wah, etc. Watch craft allowed me the time to examine the watch and open up the case back and bracelet inside the shop to check serial number. After I bought, I went to Rolex to get it serviced. Confirm genuine item. That's my experience. Still I'd advice you to do your own homework. Things could be different now.
