really spoils it with the minute markings of 5 / 10 / 20 intermixed with 3 / 6 / 9.
should have just gone all out and done like a flieger B dial...then again that would probably open up another whole can of controversy
The Rolex / Tudor Watches Club V1, Is time to have this now?

QUOTE(JPSB @ Apr 20 2016, 08:50 AM) i wouldnt call those under-rated.more like forever in the spotlight of the sub. u can throw almost any model and ppl will call it under-rated...like air king, explorer I, sea dweller etc. but if really really under-rated...i guess the cellini range. |

QUOTE(teongpeng @ Sep 4 2016, 12:04 PM) Got quoted RM3000+ to service at the RSC. Bloody hell mahal laaa u want to service or authenticate 1st?Haha. Is there anyway to have someone open up the caseback and have alook inside? Penang lang here.... there is obviously a difference. authenticate is only rm200+. service at that price im guessing its a vintage piece already. QUOTE(kenji1903 @ Sep 5 2016, 11:08 AM) can... saw a lady wearing a tt blue sub... the week after that an ap diver talking about ur wife? the sub looks pretty good also |

QUOTE(teongpeng @ Sep 5 2016, 01:35 PM) End up the wife let me use it first, until next year when i intend to get the Omega Planet Ocean 39.5mm (not sure consider this upgrade or downgrade of the sub haha) 6yrs old and rm3k+ for service? thats abit too much.I would like to authenticate it as a priority ofcourse, and since the watch is 6 years old, i thought might as well service it sekali...but the price is a real put off lo. Anyway, what do you guys think about regularly servicing the watch at 5 year interval...got necessary or not...the price mahal weiii only service when its needed, no need for preventive maintenance etc. a sub is a downgrade on ur character. k time to hide from the lolex fanbois |

im not a fanboi also can tell that model is close to or at least 20yrs old and more.
current similar models u are looking at is way more than rm16k. as with anything, the buyer should really be doing their own research into the model and market price as its not exactly rocket science. and not forgetting there is always the rolex service center where u can bring it in for full assessment for a fee of around rm250. from what i understand about rolex tho...steel models are more desirable and hold value much better than anything with gold in it.
maybe perhaps in 100yrs time...the steel model may be worthless and the gold model is just worth its weight in gold...then again gold may be worthless then too |

QUOTE(friedricetheman @ Nov 30 2016, 11:43 AM) But do you have any idea that with a markup of almost double the MSRP, how long will it take before retail and preowned prices catch up with it? A long, long time. thats the problem with the willing buyer, willing seller concept.Even when the new ceramic Sea Dweller was launched a few years ago, it was going for double its retail price. Those people whom bought it at that price are still not able to break even on it. Worse still, currently you can buy brand new DSSD for retail or less. Edit - there is definately a trend towards two tone and precious metal Rolex in western countries at the moment. Ownership of DJ41 and DD40 which is only available in two tone and precious metal at the moment is quite high among 20-30 year old Rolex collectors in other countries. if there were only lesser willing buyers...but i guess everyone wants to satisfy their 2". anyway i would also take a guess some arent AD anymore due to the cowboy town pricings... |

QUOTE(teongpeng @ Dec 10 2016, 10:55 AM) Are they your watches? i dont like the newer movements from both...me and quick-set hour movements dont get along.I actually have one watch from each of of those pics. Hehe. Im more attracted to omega lately because of its newer movement and also because its half the price of the rolex. considering i rotate pieces, and i dont own a watch winder...sometimes when it comes to put one on...i have to wind the crown like 30-40+ times to set the date. one of the main reasons i dont keep anymore quick-set hour pieces. |

QUOTE(teongpeng @ Dec 10 2016, 11:57 AM) Haha yeah i understand the feeling of changing dates. I finally understand the allure of no-date watches after getting the speedy pro. for me is practicality. As for the quickset hour vs regular date setting, that depends on individual preferance liau. By the way, do invest in a watch winder la. I got one recently and really does make my life easier. say u dont wear for 2 weeks, to set the date again using quick-set hour is about 50 turns of the crown...roughly 3-4 turns to cycle thru 24hrs... x14. compared to around 7(?) only with regular date. unless its the SM300 tribute with no-date...then ok im not sure what the fascination is with quick-set hour...seems every new movement is going that path...perhaps its the manufacturers idea of offering something new so they can charge more compared to what its worth. like they think quick-set date is antiquated and best left to entry lvl movements now...even tho all the classic vintage movements are quick-set date and up to the early 00s. |

QUOTE(friedricetheman @ Dec 13 2016, 03:34 PM) Wah you guys damn hardcore guitarist. that applies more to acoustics, like that violin also. I only collect violins. Are guitars the same as violins where the older and more mature the violin, the more mellow the sound? Violin wood when aged will sound different from a young violin, even if it is from the same violin maker using the exact same type of wood. The vibrations produced when bowing or plucking the violin opens up the pores on the wood. Over time, the violin will be more rich in sound. This is only true of handmade violins. China cheap ass violins cannot mature due to the cheap ass type of wood used. electrics being solid body... small difference... but big difference in feel as the wood then was better...more handmade rather than cnc etc. |

QUOTE(Tokyonite @ Jan 2 2017, 07:37 PM) Dear Rolex gurus in Lyn, wanted to ask if anyone can guide me in this matter; not sure why they insist on using cash.Recently in a market for a pre-owned Rolex, normally I reside in Aus but due to favourable currency rates, Malaysia is a much better place to get luxury watches. Normally I use credit card. However, I came across Swiss Connection in The Weld, Kuala Lumpur, seems like their policy is Cash only. For a watch that cost rm20k, is it normal for you guys to use cash as transaction? I thought of using credit card, but didn't know that is the case for them. Not used to carrying money over 1 or 2k in cash at all. Anyone here can shed some light? If it is quite normal, then no choice, I have to withdraw cash just to buy this wonderful timepiece! Thank you heaps!! afaik, they also take card. are u really talking to them directly? or someone just representing them? via email? try not to get scammed here. better just call them directly. |
