running z97 extreme6. everything is fine.

if the location of m.2 slots can be located in areas with better air flow instead of covered by gpus, it will be very nice. the current m.2 ssds in the market run hot. for now it's best to use one with heat sink. (a pcie adapter with heat sink)

hopefully this year's ssd releases will have better controllers that have no overheating issues.

I felt the same about the M.2 placement. Being under the GPU is inconvenient when one intends to swap drives, it's also very hot in that area.
*
exactly. although i have a third-party pcie adapter to remedy this, i waste a pcie slot. (was planning to have a sli setup initially)

using the Z97 Extreme4, the M.2 slot is placed at the lower portion which is between the second and last PCI-E slot, not too bad. At least not under the first PCI-E slot.
*
yeah that's the better location. i was all excited about ultra m.2 slots previously and overlooked this part lol

most recent updates showed that ssd manufacturers are looking at the issues, and there are new controllers with less heat issues announced, i'm gonna make use of the slot when they are available. for now the adapter works great. (really reluctant to switch to sata when you can get a raw speed of over 1GB/s with pcie hehe)

edit: checking out the layouts of other models (z97, x99), it seemed that only z97 extreme4 is the only one with better location for ultra m.2 slot.

OK OK noted. biggrin.gif User feedback is always welcome.

don't get me wrong. i'm not complaining because i am actually a happy asrock user.

i just think asrock can do better in the next revisions if any smile.gif

by the way there was a nvme support added in the recent bios update (1.60 iinm). does this mean asrock mobos support nvme ssd now?

I think that's because new boards will come with the components that do USB 3.1.
*
oh i thought it's just driver-based, because it's a pcie addon.

i am happy about asrock's innovations. however x99 in an m-itx form imo is wasting a lot of extendability. (i.e. more ram slots, more pcie slots. maybe i cannot afford to do that yet hehe)

x99 is the chip that i will go for, but i will get atx or e-atx for long-term use.

i have to agree that these are honest answers smile.gif

by the way if possible please consider selling usb-c addon cards separately. it's good for asrock users.

nonononono the more the merrier! but i think you can put 2x 32gb ddr4 into this mitx mobo.

http://www.kingston.com/jp/memory/search/?...d=kvr21l15q4/32

the 'problem' is that it's about 2.7k per piece.

Can we actually buy any of these motherboards in Malaysia?! So far only Extreme4 is sold here.
*
maybe you should wait for a bit. the new ones should come with usb 3.1 cards, i think.

I don't want/need the USB 3.1 cards and no announcements by ASRock of the WS having the USB 3.1 revision and you can only buy one bloody model in Malaysia anyway. Ridiculous.
*
ok hehe

for some reasons there are certain models that are always not available in Malaysia. (maybe their distributions are based on market demands)

QUOTE(ASRockMY @ Apr 7 2015, 11:53 PM)
Unfortunately consumers are often unaware of the complexities behind the trade.

Anyway, that's why we have a thread here. It's good to know what the market is looking for so we can try to work out something that's beneficial for as many parties as possible.

As of now, we're re-organizing some arrangement so there will likely be changes when it comes to product availability.

Bear in mind that what's stated to be available is often based on what is currently being imported, if they're all snatched up quickly then availability goes to 0.
*
yes, and it's supposed to be that way. (i.e. consumers not knowing what's going on behind the scene) all it matters to us consumers is when we wanna get something it's there and we just go grab and pay for it hehe

i do hope some day ASRock will work out that something so that we consumers can have some working channels to get what we actually want.

QUOTE(User61 @ Apr 8 2015, 02:32 AM)
Seriously, why does the consumer need to understand the complexities of the trade? To be sympathetic to the plight of the corporation? Boo hoo, it's so hard to do business here :'( Are you getting your priorities right? What does the consumer want? Can the consumer actually buy your freaking product? That's so basic. If you say the listed models in this thread is available locally, then as a consumer I actually expect to be able to buy it here locally. What 'market complexity' should I take into account?

This thread to me is mindless propaganda for a marketing team to make itself feel good if the consumers here can't actually buy any other model other than a Extreme4 here in Malaysia. Seriously, why bother? It seems that ASRockMY is not even in touch with the market realities here on the ground. You don't even know if the 3 distributors listed on the ASRock website sells the models listed here in the thread.
*
as consumers we are frustrated to see stuffs are not readily available here as advertised. i get that. however i think it's more useful to ask if there are working channels for us to get these niche products locally (maybe via local pre-orders, or asrock appointed online stores if there is one).

just chill and take it easy. it's not good to point the finger to one particular party while the whole thing involves many others that contribute to the actual problem, especially when we only look at consumers' side of things.

i believe ASRockMY is here not because for marketing purposes only, but also get to know more about local market, and to facilitate much better product positioning, customer experience and warranty support.

QUOTE(goldfries @ Apr 8 2015, 02:39 AM)
Dude, chill. It's really as what they said. The thread was started in January, and when did you start hunting? Even by then I notice that some sellers who once had the boards already took it off their price list. biggrin.gif You're just unlucky man, too late to the game so need not be a sour grape.

It's actually not as simple as you think. What they have also depends on what Distributors bring in, and what's available here could be available now but not available later. Things come in by batches and they're distributed out to many sellers so you got to understand that often the one handling threads like this would not have access to LIVE UPDATE data.

I myself have been in contact with many distributors and I can tell you updating own stock daily basis itself is already quite a task. A single distributor alone would have many shops taking goods from them, you can't be expecting them to call all the shops daily basis to check remaining stock and then feedback to the team that's managing this thread, right?
*
there are better ways to do things. i believe what works elsewhere should work well locally too. the real question is whether the local industry players are willing to keep up. to me, it's hard to swallow the fact that product availability is actually a problem in this internet age with much better logistics than before.

Happy H97m Pro4 user here.

I have a question for Asrock: Is the 4-pin (CHA_FAN1) for PWM fans?

Thank you
*
yeah usually 4-pin is pwn.

for better cable management it's more convenient to use fan splitters.

Yep. Owned a H97 pro4 and PC cannot turn ON at all. But USB running fine. Did all the steps provided in the thread I link above but still cannot turn the PC on. So need to find replacement board now.

Hmm. Bad batch I guess, but I've been using it for a bout 6 months and this happened yesterday.
*
that's sad :/ the time frame before this thing happened was almost like a few months from that reddit thread.

this kind of things is always a turn-off. let's see if the rma process is less painful than other brands :/

QUOTE(trent666 @ Apr 18 2015, 12:03 PM)
Thanks man. I only have ONE complaint though about this board. It doesn't automatically control 3 pin fans. Uefi settings allow 4 fan speeds and that's it.
*
normally for 3-pin fans i guess a 3rd-party fan controller should be used.

AsRock H97 Pro4 bios v1.70 for flash under windows is not working.

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H97%20Pro4/...ownload&os=BIOS

so far instant flash is working. if no mistake DOS also working (eventhou i haven't test yet)
*
for safer bets, always do this in bios screen or dos. windows versions of bios upgrades are kind of risky from my previous experience in other machines (was lucky to be able to recover from them)

going to build a gaming pc rig and i choose ASRock z97x killer..any review or advice for this mobo?As my research, I found it is a great mobo =)
*
yeah i think asrock mobos are satisfying. you will not need to pay more to have the worst frustrations that you can have in personal computing hehe
