I strongly recommend Michelin tyres for Malaysian roads because of the grip it provides.

Recently changed to the only Michelin range available, Energy XM2 (due to size, I'm on 205/60/15) and as you know the wet weather was quite frequent. Immediately noticed improvement on grip in wet conditions. Cheapest set of Michelins but no compromise on the grip quality. Comfort wise, it's a new set hence the rubber is still soft and nice.

P/S: BTW I don't sell Michelin. Just very happy with this brand that has safety as priority YET affordable at the same time!

Yes Rojak, I was previously using Yokohama A Drive, then after that was C Drive.

NO37, do you mean that XM2 is better wet grip compared to C Drive and A Drive ?

Dry grip so far is okay, I can't do any hard cornering with my car as my old car (20 years old) is not meant to "bantai" corners. Doesn't slip under hard acceleration so far...

Nola bro, not mabuk. I noticed the difference because using C-Drive2 in extremely wet conditions e.g. heavy rain, I was making a U-turn at 30km/h and the back of my car slipped out, almost hitting the railing. Comparing my profile, (205/60/15), XM2 is the only available Michelin tyres.

I am assuming this is the lowest range of Michelin tyres, and even so, the difference is immediately noticeable based on my experience. Also I do not speed above 140km/h in wet conditions on XM2. Perhaps you would like to share your experience as well?

Hence my verdict of XM2 being better than C-Drive2 in wet conditions. Grip has improved significantly for me bro.

Wondering has anyone having the same experience as you to own both XM2 and C Drive 2 on same vehicle with same tyre size.

perhaps you're comparing an old c drive 2 with very minimal treads left vs a new xm2.
in general feedback/consensus, xm2 is nothing about performance, more towards michelin brand perception and it's long lasting treadwear.

I've done speeds above 140kph under wet conditions with c drive 2 and i've not faced any issues with it.
the irony of my accident involving c drive 2 was under dry and that was over speed/lift off oversteer

Yes bro. Well to start off: 205/60/15 was never meant to be performance tyres also. Yup, same vehicle with same tyre size. Immediately after switching tyres I intentionally braked hard downhill in wet conditions to "test". Normally with C Drive2 my car's ABS would start kicking in but it wasn't so with the XM2... I don't know much about tread pattern but it was good enough for me.

You could be right, the C Drive2 I was using was changed in around end 2012, with about 30% tread depth left. I'm guessing the tyres could well be hardened already hence the grip was affected.

Sorry to hear about your accident bro. I should use my set of XM2 further and see how it fares. Indeed the XM2 is not meant for performance at all.

By the way, when this set of mine is due for change, any of you has recommendations for a very good set of tyres? Wet handling is my top priority. Dry is important as well. I do not care about noise at all because my car is old and the engine is always louder at higher speeds which drowns out the tyre noise anyway.

what was it's manufactured year as well as air pressure used? some tires tend to favor higher pressure while vice versa some favors lower.

no worries, it happened years ago and i still drive the iswara even to this day, the same set of c drive 2 still survived

hmm if got size availability for michelin ps3, can consider that.
else maybe something like goodyear eagle f1 directional 5, hankook v12, maybe even Yokohama S drive if its still on promotional pricing.
can look up Toyo T1R/Nitto Neogen as well, Bridgestone potenza RE002

do bear in mind the above mentioned tires (with the exception of PS3 being jack of all trades) won't be comfort/quiet.

I just ask some tyres shops, one of them said he using XM2 in Iswara as well, he told me that it's good grip and better than A or C Drive2 both wet and dry. He told he on highway, he drove 150-160kph also still grippy compared to previously A drive or C Drive 2.

I might be consider XM2 over CDrive2 in the next change of tyre in future, since 185/60/14 size is not so many variety of good grip tyres.

ps: my iswara did over 180kph (yes,exceeded original speedometer, gps was around 190+) on northsouth towards singapore before.
officially recorded (yes on youtube) top speed was 176kph, just 4 shy over 180 max speedometer limit while i was going towards Elite speedway track (or was it sepang? either way was a track day haha)

The nissan sentra did around 190kph with c drive 2 as well on MEX/NKVE, still couldn't exceed 200kph though.

The guy (foreman) told me, he drove 140-160kph and reach JB with slightly more than 2 hours and travel everyweek.

i reach singapore within 1.5 hours or so with avg speeds of 200-220 kph on continental comfort contact 5 stock tires on the inspira
