QUOTE(davido @ Apr 2 2016, 09:45 AM) Hi icelink, I believe that is sp Iris. The one I gave away I think is Brownie Brown or Ghost. Btw, it you look at the stem you got, the top part is actually a budding flower. Btw, I'm giving away MC culture. Just trimmed. Any takers, please PM me (or whatsapp if you have my number). Self collection anytime today or after 2pm tomorrow. Must collect latest by tomorrow. In PJ area. Can it grow in low tech tank?

QUOTE(davido @ Apr 2 2016, 07:38 PM) I'm not sure whether MC can grow in low tech tank. Need to check its parameters. The buce I got from aquacult - the lelong store. The same place I got the Tigers from. The buce is surprisingly expensive. A one inch runner already RM30. Yeah the buceps here are expensive! I bought those for rm60.
Was the one you bought from aquaculture healthy? See that the hey have quite a few varieties. Our friends in Singapore have access to cheaper price. This Dark velvet is going for SGD 15 only.
Anyone going to SG? 😁 Btw davido, if you still have some MC to spare I'd like to try. This post has been edited by Bigboyz: Apr 2 2016, 08:07 PM

QUOTE(davido @ Apr 3 2016, 09:23 AM) Did you buy from aquacult too? I drove all the way to Penang to visit his store. Yes, it was certainly healthy. The aquacult one have a certain quality that I trust. His plants are sold submersed, so it have already acclimatize to underwater growth. And he gave the assurance that any plants or fishes I get from him are disease free and can be added straight to the tank without risk of introducing disease. He has many interesting shrimps and collection of buce. Yesterday just gave away my MC. Let me know earlier so I can reserve for you, but the next trimming is 3-4 weeks later. Please share your water parameters if possible. GH/KH, PH, substrate, etc. Wow! That is real dedication driving to pg. I got the bucep from shrimp garden. Another one place I found is shrimpoly... No worries about the MC. Substrate I'm using is benibachi soil mix with Amazonia. Ph is 6.5, gh I bump it up to 4-5. Don't measure my kh. But it should be in the low range of 1. Dosing sparingly with ferka potassium and ferka aquatilizer and some excel. My tanks are Low tech tank mainly for shrimp driven by air sponge hence no co2. My other main shrimp tank where I have berried shrimps, I don't dose any Fert. Water parameters are the same.

QUOTE(kimimaro_kun @ May 8 2016, 05:44 PM) This is planted tank or shrimp tank? I've doubt ur mc can survive without co2. And maybe ur filter is not enough bro Just my 2cent Not optimum without co2 but it's growing slowly. I think the filter is sufficient for now due to low bio load.

QUOTE(davido @ May 10 2016, 06:10 PM) Any recommendations for algaecide that is effective at removing BBA algae? It doesn't need to be shrimp safe, as I will be removing the plants, rock, wood, etc and soak it overnight in a bucket. Then rinse and put back into the tank. I have Excel too. I heard its effective against BBA for spot treatments. But I don't want to do spot treatments, but just soak it overnight. Anyone knows the dose if you use Excel in a 5 liter bucket? For hardscape you may use chlorox to nuke it. Cheaper option. For plants I think of its left exposed for too long in concentrated excel solution might cause it to melt. Not sure tho coz haven't tried.

Oh ya. May not be good to soak wood in chlorox as it will absorb the solution and leach back to the water.

QUOTE(davido @ May 11 2016, 04:42 PM) Thanks all. Actually I'm looking for a quick and harmless fix for the plant. It grows only on my Buce (see pic) and my SAE is not doing its job. No Chlorox as it will weaken the plant, and no extended soaks (like 1 week) as that too will weaken the plant. Best thing I'm looking for is just to soak overnight and then next day just put back into the tank. The quantity is only a palmful. So will probably use the Excel brush technique. Also does anybody know what is that thing growing on the stone (the red arrows)? Is that mini pelia? I've been trying to get rid of it too as it will eventually cover the Buce leaves. Think the brush method should be effective. Based on my exp short contact with excel should be effective to nuke the bba. Maybe try on a few leave first. Not sure how fragile is bucep?

QUOTE(creezalird @ Oct 2 2017, 11:16 AM) If the bucep is already planted as submerged, when you try to plant it as emersed, it will usually melt all/almost all of the leaves. Just leave the rhizome on top of the soil and it will grow out new leaves after few weeks/months Okay. That’s scary... a few months to grow back the leaves. Thanks for your feedback bro. At least I will be prepared.

Oh my intention was to see if it can grow faster as it doesn’t seem to be doing too well in my low tech shrimp tank. No worries. I’m willing to experiment 😆
