QUOTE(LuQEE @ Jul 12 2015, 11:12 PM) lol, treat it as a learning curve la, next time, just makesure its moist, not soaking wer btw, usually dry start ppl dont start dumping ferts , they only use it when the plants have been planted underwater. but i think it depends on a person personal techniques and style of planting. you never which one suits you the best until youve tried it. thanks i've been inspired by this one guy who starts DSM for his UG and it grows really well. His level of water is similar to my first picture i guess not all plants grow the same even if same species.

QUOTE(aH wAi @ Jul 9 2015, 11:19 PM) @DonnerGott did you leave the plants without water like an hour or more? it normally happen to me when i leave those plant without water an hour or more, and they will end up like this whenever i re-scape... and i guess keep the water few days in advance will be good... i'm doing it too and so far all my planted tank no problem Hi Ah Wai, Nope. I place them in less than 10 mins or so if not, they would be in another spare tank I have prepared earlier. I don't think leaving the plant out like an hour would cause this issue. FYI, When I bought the plants ie java fern or sagi they were pre-pack in a plastic bag and cute_miao says they can survive like that for a week or 2 without any issue. I suspect when we stir up the substrate too much and replant back, our plant aren't doing well coping with the changes.

QUOTE(jctasoga @ Jul 10 2015, 08:05 AM) @donner that foul stench is the ammonia from the water. it is normal and will later turn to nitrate to feed ur plants. once u keep the water flowing, the stench will go away naturally. I think it might be good to snip off the leaves of the plants until left 2 or 3 leaves then let them regrow. I have done it with success when i first started the tank. hope above helps. cheers. bicep sifu... welcome back Thanks jctasoga for the tip on the stench. it works. As for the plant, I trimmed the bad and rotten part leaving one 1 baby leaf. I hope it will live!

Aquascaping seems very interesting but the problem for me is the time for maintenance. I am afraid that I might neglect on it and totally get lazy. May I ask, does it consumes a lot of electricity running them or does it cost a lot for maintenance?

Low tech setup could be virtually maintenance free with no extra cost.

Do they have low maintenance plants or fishes? Well there's a lot for me to study before starting one. Our temperature is quite difficult for them setups right? I mean I see some plants needing water temperature between 20-26deg. Meaning I need a cooling system for the tank. Hmmm.,.

Low tech means low maintenance plants, no CO2 injection and generally normal lighting. My no maintenance betta tank. Just some floating plants, anubias and couple morimo balls (took out already for another tank)... fertilized by betta poo Don't have to worry about temperature and stuff. No regrets on the money spent for the entire setup using ADA. I really love what goes inside the aquarium. Just sit back and watch nature's beauty

Anyway, want to ask if its wrong to keep co2 running everyday even the lights are off when I'm away at work ? I usually come home after work everyday and turn on the light for 1 to 3 hours a day. Please advice.
