as i know the uv is usually at the outlet before going back into the tank. the inlet is still used to filter the dirt and water before the UV lights.
generally it is no beneficial but if the UV fails, usually it is difficult to detect because it is covered inside the filter. usually u need to replace it once a year. its a bonus but not a necessity. |

Sorry if anyone wanted plants from me last month. I had a hectic 2-3 weeks but back to normal now.
Currently I have these plants to give away: Hygrophila Polysperma (dwarf hygro) Hygrophila Corymbosa (giant hygro, temple plant) Ludwigia Repens (no idea the common name, it is red though) Java fern (still baby) Let me know if anyone is interested. The giant hygro is quite huge, 10-15cm tall. EDIT 13/2: Pictures! Ludwigia Repens (left) and Hygrophila Corymbosa (right). Ludwigia doesn't grow as fast and I just trimmed it on Sunday so it is still small. Only 1 stem to give away (tallest one) for now. Giant hygro is getting very big. I can split them up and give away at least 2-3 stems. Hygrophila Polysperma (left and middle back). Just got trimmed on Sunday too so a bit short but I can trim it again. Java fern babies. Still very small. QUOTE(LJones @ Feb 7 2018, 05:52 PM) sifus, for klang valley (subang kl pj) what are the better local aquatics shops? i went to Natural Aquatics World in Subang and thought tehy are v good. Hi Sifu,
Can I use cabinet type of fish tank for planting and small fish? The fish tank came with sump tank, workable for small fish? Can I turn off the sump tank? Any overflow problem? Thanks This post has been edited by eugenecctan: Feb 21 2018, 08:52 AM |

On the main page, stated,
1. Bottom layer -> lava rocks / ADA 5elements (Bacter100, clear super, tourmaline BC, Penac W, Penac P) 2. Substrate layer: Soil (eg: ADA aquasoil normal type, ADA aquasoil powder type, JBL base fert, etc) For my tank planning-> 1) Bottom layer I have bought Lava rock below, it will make water cloudy, do I need to clean it before planting? Will all the nutrient get wash out? Quality - 3KG 2) substrate layer 2 packs of JBL aquabasisplus (6kg each) Quality - 12KG I would prefer black color substrate but these soils are all brown color. Questions, How many KG/litres of soil do i need for 4x1.5x2 tank? Any recommendation on black color soil? Thanks. |

lava rocks supposed to be porous for more bb holding and also possible some other nutrients (not too sure abt this).
further, it is cheaper compared to putting lots of expensive soil at the bottom layer. larger rocks cover the bottom space more than the soil. This post has been edited by jctasoga: Feb 27 2018, 03:18 PM |
