Hi guys, today I'll be reviewing a brand new headset released by Armaggeddon and its the Fuze 7 Series and the one I have right now with me is the Fuze 7 Scarlet Soviets Red model. There are 3 colors for this model which are Red (Scarlet Soviet), Blue (Alpine Allies) and Yellow. The current retail price is RM169 with 1 year limited warranty from the manufacturer.




It's said that the Fuze series provides a nice balance of bass, treble and midrange along with rich details and immersive sound stage. This headset also comes with a unidirectional microphone which ignores the background noise while being able to capture your voice clearly. The headset ear cup cushion is shaped rectangle to provide ample space for the ears with large drivers delivering better sound quality. Before jumping into the review, lets take a quick look at the provided specifications and details!

Armaggeddon Fuze 7 Packaging


Packaging-1: Here is box that houses the Ruby Red Scarlet Soviets headset labeled with a big font "The Ultimate Gaming Headsets". The front highlights 5 main features of this headset. The corner of the box has a transparent plastic to allow users to have a glimpse of what to expect. Behind the box briefly describes about the company Armaggeddon. In addition, 20 languages (English, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, German, etc) are used to translate the 4 main specs of this headset.



Packaging-2: Looking at the sides of the box, the right side is basically a transparent cover for users to peek at the headset and the left side has a list of the headset details which I have posted in the first section of this review for your convenience!


Packaging-3: The top of the box is nothing spectacular, just the Armaggeddon logo positioned at the top right corner and the model series of this headset. Opening the box reveals the headset band.



Packaging-4: Removing the headset out of the box, we can find the large plushy-looking headset. The braided cable fixed to the headset is tucked behind the cardboard.


Packaging-5: The accessory is all stuffed into a slim envelope. I wonder what is inside?


Packaging-6: One of the content is a CD for you to install the software. The software is used to set the headset 7.1 settings.


Packaging-7: There is also a user manual, a very thin paper. It gives you an overview of the product features in 1 glimpse.


Packaging-8: The user manual have a section for the Fuze 7 software setup.

Armaggeddon Fuze 7 Design

Design-1: Here is an overview look of the product after taking it out of the box. Pretty awesome looking right? I find it much larger and bulkier compared to my current headset Edifier H850.



Design-2: Starting from the top, you can find the headband with a red label "Armaggeddon". It's made of hard plastic which does not flex much.



Design-3:The headband has this medium-soft cushions in 3 muscular packs. It felt much stiffer compared to the ear cushion which is isn't my cup of tea.



Design-4:Checking out the headset cable, it hardwired to the headset. Therefore, this means the users can't unplug it and keep it aside or unable to swap the cable for something shorter/longer. However, this headset is primarily focused for computer gaming usage and it uses USB connection instead of jack connection, so those pointers above aren't really a con but something to keep in mind.



Design-5:The headset cable is braided with black and red stripes for the Scarlet Soviet model. It will be a different color scheme for the other 2. A gold-plated USB connection is found at the end of the cable connection. The length of the cable measures approximately 83 inches!!! If you find it too long, just tie it up with the provided black-wire. Notice a small black bump near the USB cable connection? That "bumps" are called ferrite beads or sometimes ferrite chokes used to reduce EMI (electromagnetic interference) and RFI (radio-frequency interference).


Design-6: The headset has a controller located between the ends of the audio cable. It has 4 buttons (volume up, volume down, mute-on microphone sound, mute-on headphone sound). An orange diamond plastic is positioned in the center of the controller. It lights up bright orange to indicate its turned on and blinks when sound is played through it. On the rear side, it displays the warranty expiry date and serial number.

Design-7: Here is a closer inspection on the fold-able microphone. You can hide it when not in use. The mic could not be adjust closer to your mouth though. However, talking through it and listening an audio recording of it sounds pretty clear for another person to understand. There isn't any gibberish sound. Can be use for podcast blogging or gaming commentary.


Design-8: Looking at the external sides of each ear cup, it has red L.E.D areas where it will light up when its plugged to a PC which is turned on.


Design-9: On the internal side of the ear cup, it has a rather large rectangle ear cup which goes over the ear.


Design-10: The measurement of the ear cushion is 4.5cm in width and 5cm in height.


Design-11: Removing the ear cushions reveals the large plastic that houses the audio driver.

It has many great features for you to try out! Personally, I use the 8CH but ensure your audio is either 5.1 or 7.1 channel to feel the effects! If you stereo music, on those channels, it will sounds basically much louder but does not have the feel of the roominess/openess environment.



Below are the summary of the headphone pros and cons based on my usage. Do try out the headphone first at some IT shops provides demo units. Ensure it fits on your head comfortably, else you might want to look for other gaming headset that suits you. Sound quality wise, it was quite impressive for both headphone and microphone. Take note that this uses a USB port instead of the regular audio jack. So you can't use them on your mobile devices to listen music from it. I'm also a little puzzled when I mute the microphone, the L.E.D lights turned on on the microphone stick instead of the other way around.

Armaggeddon Fuze 7 Headphone Pros and Cons

Pros:
1. Headphone Sound - Awesome. The sound from low, mid and highs are great, but you will need to increase the volume to hear them. The surround sound is quite amazing for this price!
2. Microphone Audio - Clear audio quality. It also does not record much of the background noise which is a plus.
3. Braided audio cable with gold-plated USB port - Gives a high quality feel to it.
4. Has a software to adjust the audio channels (2, 4, 6, 8 channels!) but I set mine to 8 CH for the optimum audio sound quality!
5. The software allows you to select 1 of the 12 ready-made presets (default, dance, bass, treble, live, rock, soft-rock, jazz, metal, rap, classic, vocal!) or you can save your own customized preset too! And also set the environment the sound effect is set in (sewer pipe, arena, plains, living room, auditorium, etc)
6. The software also does live run auto-convert voice effect (aka Magic Voice) so you can sound like a cartoonish character, monster, male and female! But sounds a little bit artificial though but its something you can play with
7. There are also many other features packed inside such as Vocal Cancellation, Key Shifting, Volume Controller for headphone/microphone and 7.1 Virtual Speaker (basically move your subwoofer, satellite to a different location so it sounds differently in the headphone.
8. Large ear cups with soft cushions makes it comfortable for long duration. I like how they design the shape (rectangular) so it fits the ear nicely without having it touching the side of it. I would prefer if its an oval shape and angled roughly 33 degrees to cup the ear nicely.

Cons:
1. Large - The headphone is quite large, especially the plastic cover that houses the audio driver.
2. Heavy - This headset weighs approximately 350gram. Wearing them for a long duration might feel tiring to some users especially those who are used to light weight headphones.
3. Headband not fitting properly - The headband might not fit for some users who had a small head even when the extendable headband is set to the smallest size.
4. The microphone stick isn't all made of plastic but in the center is made of some carbon/rubber-material, so you can move it slightly closer or away from the mouth but not very close or in front of your mouth.
5. Lacks of bass - Playing bass music, it doesn't provide much deep bass thumping experiences but light one instead (even with the bass preset turned on)


p.s: I missed out the last piece of the photo... the L.E.D lighting effect from this headset Looks cool in bright/dark area

Is the light effect is only 1 colour? Or it varies to the colour of the headset?

Does it compatible to PS4?

The color is fixed for each of headset!
So choose wisely

If your PS4 device is able to play music through a speaker that uses USB, I think there is a high chance for the headset to play audio through it too

I should warn people that these are pure garbage. mad.gif I bought 2 pairs in lowyat about 6 months ago. One for myself, one for my son. My son stopped using his 3 months ago as the cable contacts near the cup is dropping connections. I've used mine only a few times, and lately I've been using them just for music on my laptop, and the usb plug connection keeps dropping out constantly.

They are way overpriced garbage. My advice is to get a good sound card, like the Asus Xonar, and then get a good pair of regular headphones.

bro, perhaps you can send the headset for claim warranty at their office at Sunway Damansara. Within one hour can be done.

Does Armaggedon Fuze 7 7.1 work with Edifier M3200 Speaker since the cable is in USB form or do I need to go for settings in my computer? I'm scare that there will be 2 source of sound. 1 from the speaker 1 from the headset. I haven't buy the headset yet.
