You guys sure Royal Canin is a good feline food brand? Reading through their ingredients (highlighting the first 5 ingredients) left me thinking otherwise.

QUOTE(Seager @ Mar 17 2015, 10:44 AM) Hi guys, You can try Feline Caviar Holistic. I fed my overweight male cat with this and now he seems a lil under controlled lol I need some input with regards to dry cat food. I've been feeding my little one with Orijen for a 4-5 months now, and changed to Nutrience earlier this week, due to the fact that it's rather hard to find Orijen nearby. Contents are similar, no grain. My cat seems comfortably with Nutrience, she basically will eat everything But my concern here is her weight. She's is a little chubby right now (not exactly fat yet), but still very active. I feed her dry food twice in a day (acceptable amounts), and some treats in between. Once every 2-3 days I give her wet food for dinner. I am trying to control her weight before she gets fat. Are there any recommended dry food/ kibbles that I can try? Perhaps something easily available too - Both Orijen and Nutrience seem hard to come by Besides, I work regular office hours so she's with my mom most of the time - and well, my mom manja her a lot la. Gives treats, fills her food bowl up whenever it's empty (I just found out), so I've told my mom to cut down a bit, not to put dry food whenever her bowl is empty - let me be in charge and only put her kibbles twice a day. But back to the main question, any recommended dry food I can try? Should I stop going grain-free? |

QUOTE(Seager @ Mar 24 2015, 11:18 AM) Guys just out of curiosity, what wet food do you feed your little ones? I'm using either Addiction/Evo/Wellness Core depending on stock availability. I'd recommend u avoid products like Sheba or the likes as their wet products contain mainly of by-product and only a small percentage of real meat.I give her Sheba or Fancy Feast Royale. I noticed that Sheba has got a lot of gel (I believe this is starch), but not as much as Royale. Nowadays I remove all the gel and starchy content before feeding her. What about you guys? Any particular brands? Or home made meals are the best? Boiled chicken/ fish? Thanks. |

QUOTE(silverhawk @ Jun 15 2015, 02:05 PM) Yeap, do drop by Couldn't agree more. RC is crap and overpriced. I still see many cat owners keep using this brand.Don't switch to Royal Canin. Just look at the ingredients list and you'll know that its all crap. Vets will recommend it because they're sponsored by the main company. That main company also sends these vets for training in nutrition and such which is biased towards their own product. Its akin to McDonalds sponsoring doctors to tell you that their food is good for your health. Orijien will do fine in maintaining a good coat. Would be better if you can get them off kibble and on to wet/raw food. |
