anyone here using clumping cat litter?
i've recently tried using clumping cat litter from tidy cats non clumping and i have a problem with the clumping type.

my 2 cats would dig until the bottom and pee before covering it up. it leaves a very ichy sticking pile at the bottom which is very difficult to scrapped up.
i've read online comments about filling the litterbox deeeep so that the cats dong dig all the way down to the base before peeing.

was hoping if anyone encounter this problem and if there is any way around this?

Filling deep won't solve the problem.
My cats does that too, but nowadays I lazy so just scrape up what I can and replace the whole litter like once half a month.

My cat is very ill.
Noticed he wasn't eating much and refusing to come in on Tuesday, then kept him indoors for Wednesday to observe. He wasn't eating anymore and puking then and drinking a lot of water. So sent to the vet on Thursday where he was hospitalized and diagnosed with acute kidney failure. Probably due to toxic substance. He's still hospitalized tonight, bringing him home tomorrow.

Anyone has any experience with this? My cat is just around 4 years old, and the prognosis frankly doesn't sound very positive. Best case he has is 50/50, depending on how he reacts to the IV and force feeding. He still isn't eating, and the IV has managed to rehydrate him some but the puking hasn't stopped. Thursday he looked in a really bad way. He's still very weak and drooling a lot, probably in pain because his throat and mouth has ulcers as a side-indication.

Preparing for the worst to be honest. I really want him to recover, but it's very hard to tell with kidney problems according to the vet. He might seem ok, he actually walked around a bit and meowed a lot today. But he might crash at any moment. Either way, he's probably at 20-30% at the moment. I'm bringing him home to see his friends, and be comfortable and safe in his own domain. Maybe a last goodbye, I don't know.

Either way, I don't want him to suffer more than he has to. Even bringing him home is a risk, as he might crash at any time. But I do want him to be in a safe place, surrounded by his lifelong friends at least one more time. Don't really know what to do at the moment, it's hard times...

I feel I should put this here, even as I'm feeling very distressed and don't really want to talk about it.
Be careful when you put your beloved pets to sleep, always make sure you do the proper research. I put my cat to sleep at Vet Corner Veterinary Centre in Kuching, near to Saberkas. What I can say is NEVER AGAIN. I am never visiting them ever, and I strongly discourage pet lovers to as well.
Reason being, when my cat was put to sleep it was supposed to be a straightforward process. I inquired about sedating my pet beforehand, but the vet dismissed my concerns. Things took a turn for the worse, when after 2-3 times poking around his paws she couldn't find a vein to inject into. Then she just proceeded to do a intercardiac injection, which is injecting straight into the heart. As you can find out, this practice is banned in a lot of countries as it causes pain to the animal and should only be considered as a last resort and if the animal is already unconscious.
Not once did the vet explain to me this. Neither did she seek my approval. She was just rushing, scum like her can't wait to get in the next customer and earn more. She didn't even use a proper stethoscope to check my pet's pulse once it's over. Just a quick look in the eyes and a bit of messing around, barely 5 seconds and she declared him dead.
I'll put more details once I feel better. Still very distressed and furious, both at myself for ignorance and at the vet for her callousness. If you don't care for animals go be something else instead of a vet, scum. A complaint has been lodged with the Vet Council.

That is the reason. Peeing on the pillow & bed is his way marking the territory. Neutering around RM1xx to RM2xx, depending on the clinic. If you go to Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinar clinics, the cost maybe much cheaper, below RM100.

If by "pee" we're talking about spraying, neutering won't do much for it. He'll still do the same thing after neutering.

His cat peed on the bed & pillow. If it's against vertical object, yeah he will be spraying. Well I attributed his cat peeing on the bed/pillow as an act marking territory because his cat have no problem peeing in the litter box most of the time. Also I have experience with unneutered male cats that did both spraying & peeing to mark their territory even though that cats don't have problem peeing in the litter box most of the time. I'm not entirely sure but if male cat peeing in front of the door, I think that like a calling card "I'm here" to female cats. Pretty much like un-spaying female cats that peeing near windows.

"He'll still" is not entirely true. Behavior doesn't change immediately after neutering but it does slowly changing. Do you know male cats can still impregnate female cat weeks after neutered? It can take more than a week for the male’s testosterone levels to drop. So, your cat may still spraying or peeing on undesirable places in this time but he will eventually stop once testosterone levels drop. I have seen neutered cat mount a female cat but after a couple of minutes wrestling, the male cat suddenly stop. What I'm trying to say here that he will eventually loose the urge spraying or peeing outside of the litter box.

Hmmm...the surgeon just need to remove the testicles as far as I know. Unless the surgeon only removed one testicle... hehe. Seems somehow testosterone level in your cat still high. Anyway, respect for still be patient even after 10 years.  thumbup.gif

Guys. Can you advise how to get my cat to eat new food? My wife accidently bought blackwood - adult food and my cat hates it. doesnt even go near the bowl. before this my cat ate blackwood kitten. i tried mixing with wet food. However she took the wet food out of the bowl and eats on the floor  sweat.gif

Try mixing some of their old food in. Start with 10% to 30% etc. incrementally by days. If it's not taking, then you're out of luck. Some cats are just picky.

Suggest you adopt first. Maybe a kitten. Then get the Persian when you want, most cats enjoy company. Must be 2-3 around otherwise they bored to heck.

Hi Cat people, I'm posting here because I need help with looking for a type of wood based pelleted cat litter. Not the good brands, those I have no trouble finding at all. I'm looking for this brand of litter that was quite cheap and had extremely terrible absorbency.

It's locally produced and looks a lot like the picture in this link.

http://www.mudah.my/Wood+Pellets+Cat+Litter-43247361.htm (I tried calling the number but it was not in service)

I used to be able to find it in certain shops but now they have stopped carrying due to it's unpopularity as it's almost not absorbent at all.

Any info if it was spotted in any shops would be great. Thanks!

Because your cats insist on it? Can't think why you would want to use it anyway if it isn't absorbent.
Just spent rm25 on a pack of pine litter, praying me kitties take to it.

Just cat things. You give them super luxury bedding they go sleep on newspaper. Truestory
