Hi guys, can dry kibbles cause diarrhea?

i give my 10 week old kitten totw rocky mountain, and royal canin kitten wet food.

now they starting having diarrhea/loose stool for a few days. i stopped the wet food thinking that may caused it, but they still having diarrhea.

or could it be due to fleas treatment? i applied frontline spray, most of the fleas are gone but scared they licked the spray causing diarrhea?

what are they eating previously?

if not used to the food will have loose stool. adult cats is the same.  frontline... maybe...

last time i gave them random kibble i bought,
no brand, gave them for 2 weeks, the poo is okay.

when i change to totw i mix with the old one,
but they dont touch the old one at all for few days so i straight give only the totw + wet food 2x/day.

Hi, did u dewormed them (drontal orally) ? Anything else besides wet royal canid food u give like raw chicken ?
*
brought them to vet yesterday & got their first deworm,
cant vaccine yet cause diarrhea and less than 1 kg,
the vet also gave griseofulvin tab for fungal treatment, need to give them for 21 days.

i didnt give them anything else besides that, no raw food, just boiled chicken breast once to reduce the diarhea

vet say diarrhea could be due food change/worm.

hope they will get healthy after this.

Are you changing suddenly between food? Cat digestive systems generally cannot handle sudden changes, and you are supposed to transition between foods slowly.

i tried to mix but they wont touch the old one as they like the new one better,
but now they dont have diarrhea anymore after deworming,
currently on totw kibble only,
maybe i’ll wait for a week or two before introducing RC wet food slowly again.

Thanks for the reply. Money is not a problem...more on giving it the best. lol.

I was reading about tofu litter which is the most exp but also the best as it is easy to dispose and absorbs best. I suppose you're not in msia and you can't recommend a good brand you use?

Thanks for the other replies. biggrin.gif

if you can afford it try use pottycat tofu litter,
can mix charcoal & original or full charcoal to absorb the smell.

im using nurturpro tofu litter which is a little bit cheaper than pottycat
