Hi hi first time cat owner here. I wanna ask for cat food recommendations biggrin.gif I'm currently feeding:

1. Rufus (Adult cat) - RC Vet Prescription Neutered Satiety Balance dry food.

2. Ginger (8-9 month old kitten) - RC Kitten and Blackwood Kitten dry food which he will only touch when he is really really hungry. A bit of a picky eater where he will only eat wet food (Nekko Kitten) that purely contains fish.

Could I get some recommendations that are cheaper but provides all the right nutrients for Rufus? As for the picky kiddo, are there any recommendations or tips for making him eat his dry kibbles? He hantam the older one's dry food when he knows no one is watching.

Thanks! biggrin.gif

If u buy rc prescription, very over price ler, sure can try other better cat food. Previously eat wht brand of food?

rc kitten i noe the smell very well,
blackwood kitten ? smell no good?
kitten go hantam rc pres, mins  can compare the smell of all 3.

the purpose of the rc you are feedin, is to reduce the calorie intake, it has alot 10% of fibre, to make the cat feel full.
is d fler overweight? y vet? recomn tht food?

Previously, I don't know as he is a rescue that the vet fostered so I just stuck to that since the vet recommended. The vet also told me to not let his weight go over 4kg for fear of UTI if overweight but I don't think I can afford buying this in the future sad.gif

That kitten very erratic. Sometimes will finish the Blackwood kibbles, sometimes smell and then walk away. RC Kitten totally don't want to touch most days. Looking at Carnilove and Cindy's Recipe for him to try. Are those brands okay?

Overweight cat is less active, so tends to drink less water, therefore has higher risk.

Feeding all dry diet also increase the risk, cos naturally the cat don't like to drink a lot.

Not all cat will kena tho, some whole life eat dry food for 14 years oso never kena block before..

To prevent cat from getting, fat, dont free feed, and feed just enough.

Most cat food are high in calorie, low energy cat food, like the RC one they purposely sell it more expensive...
that is how they do business.

For me, I only do the 'take it or leave it' method, the cat / kitten will eventually eat the food, when they are hungry.

Don't pour out a lot of food n leave it there, the smell will go away, and the cat wont' like.
So start at small quantity.

carnilove or cindy as long as they eat it. I've not smell cindy so can't comment, I know carnilove usually have very strong smell.

Thank you so much for the information! Rufus drinks a lot of water though so I'm not too worried and the youngin keeps him active biggrin.gif I will also try your "take it or leave it" method. May I know what cat food do you feed your cat(s)?

Let's have a look @ cindys recipe.
Never had a chance to belek this cat food @ the pet shop.

As with any product, first look for the company behind it. Check the food packaging, can you find any address?
Since we don't have the packaging, we goto the website, there is contact form, but no address or company name can be found.

Made in France? (what a luck eh to choose France, due to some people wana boikot French product)
Saw the huge 'Made in France' printed twice on the front of packaging. Ok, can you find any French address on the packaging?
Maybe bcos the famous RC is from France, and bought over by Mars Inc.
Search online, can you find CR product being sold anywhere, apart from Msia?

CR terbalik = RC  .... Wow!! And it's made in France!

Even RC don't want to clearly state where their pet food is made. Made in the EU. No address of the contract factory.

Any other languages printed on the packaging apart from english?
We see other brand have up to 10 languages printed, meaning it's being sold @ 10 diff countries.

Ok, finally found an address. It's on their pdf catalog.

I'm not saying CR is not good.

That is just my way of being a consumer, I want to compare products, which company is more transparent, which is more worth the RM.

Currently the flers just finished a big bag of Totw river canyon..
Totw is the cheapest? grain free cat food Made in the usa.

It doesn't have a strong smell, spoilt cats dont like but they will eat it when they are really hungry.

Totw i got rm110 or lower frm shop, for 7kg earlier this year,
which is less than rm16/kg.

Last time they(not sure is manufacturer or shipper) poke alot of holes on the packaging to release air. This actually will contaminate the food. Then early this year, they didn't do it. Current batch, I'm not sure.

If we look @ the ingredient. We can tell the protein mainly comes frm potatoes and peas.

This is the factory address. When you google, u can see the factory. The low rating is not related to the products, but from truckers.

Brit premium salmon, used to have aroma on par with orijen/acana, very natural and strong.
Then this year, the formulation changed? It smells like taiwan made cat food. And the shape also changed. Maybe cos by pandemic, they can°t get supply etc.
Current price for Brit premium is less than rm80 for 8kg. which is rm10/kg. It used to be rm110 per bag several years ago.

One thing that bothers me is all of their kibble packaging (big size) have 'holes' below, to release air. Means it is (kinda)exposed to outside air. Brit, brit care, carnilove all from the same Czech company.

Brit premium salmon (before 2020)

Thanks again for the information! Seems like feeding cats is work by itself XD Guess I will have to try out a few brands to see what works for them.
