found and adopted a kitten about 3 weeks ago.

This poor kitten was super lucky because he was in the middle of the road and by the time i pass-by, he was actually underneath my car (not sure how many cars before me) and immediately stopped my car roadside and witnessed few cars almost ran over this poor kitten. Picked him up and put inside my car as the mother was not near my sight (as i am rushing to workplace as well).

i will continue later for what i have done within this 3 weeks as i am first time being a pet owner/owned.

Good job! These poor little guys got almost no chance without a mom or dad cat to fend for them.
*
thank you!

continue...

first sight; medium hair, look clean and small size by judging this poor kitten around 1 month old. Barely palm size and weight around 200g.
brought him to workplace and spent a day in my office. lucky he behaved ok except 'hiss' me few times at the beginning. Made milk (that time i was not aware that cow milk is no no for cat) and he had very little. slept most of the time but still roamed around and not too noisy.
After work, brought him back to the place where i picked him up and search for his family. spent 45mins searching and sweating around the area but no sign of it. Still wonder where this poor kitten from hmm.gif . Decided to bring him back home and thinking what to do with him next.

As he was small in size and therefore decided to feed him with replacement milk for cat. Even bought baby-cat feeder with silicon-nipple. Finally home, me and my wife decided to clean this cat by warm-bath with cat shampoo. shocking.gif i was shocked by the numbers of flea that attached to the body and furr. There were like hundred of them and we had goosebumps! oh poor little kitten. As we washed him from body first, the fleas escaped from body/neck to his head and i was like OMG!!! We tried the best to clean him without hurting removed as many fleas as possible. Immediate dried him up and warmed him with milk feeding.
Accident happened as this starved kitten bite the silicon-nipple off and swallowed part of it!! shocking.gif i was so worried whether it will block his throat and etc but still need to feed this kitten. So poured the milk to small bowl and he had the milk from it. As it was night time, we have no experience on this kind of situation before and therefore what we can do is look for my friend, Mr. Google whether will it caused problem to the cat or not. Decided to monitor for the time being and to check on his condition time to time.

we have no cage of course and therefore put him in a big paper carton with newspaper as litter material and cloths as his bed. We had sleepless night as we worried that he might 'kaput'. Fortunately he was doing good and seems to have a good sleep without any sound. A night past, the milk that we put almost emptied and he was also peeing as usual but no poo-poo (i think he was milk-fed).

The next day decided to bring him to vet nearby our area for checking as we were still worried about the silicon-nipple that he swallowed. Vet checked and told us the kitten is actually a 'HE' shocking.gif . We actually thought he is a 'SHE' when we washed him as no testicles found. There is a little bump near the anus. Then we told her about the silicon-nipple incident and vet performed a checking on it and she told us not to worry because no sign of blocking/clogging. What a relief cheers.gif The vet also commented this poor kitten is actually roughly 8weeks old shocking.gif and therefore he has the ability to bite off the silicon-nipple. However, he was seriously under size and must has not fed nicely before. She immediately let the kitten eat RC 'Recovery' canned wet food in the clinic. De-worm was done and prescribed multi vitamin for this poor kitten. Vaccination will only be done when he gains some weight. Vet told us to return few weeks later for 1st vaccination and i am actually planning by this weekend or maybe another week later.

i will stop here for the time being and to be continue later thumbup.gif

well officially 3 weeks taking care this kitten. As i am new to cat, do a lot of studies and also checked this topic occasionally.

bought:
1) litter box x 2 with clumping clay type, scoop and etc relevant to litter
2) single level cage but not too small size (put 1 litter box, food&water tray, 1 container as his bed)
3) food, Blackwood kitten
4) small toy and cushions for him at this favourite spots

we thought he was not familiar with litter box for peepoo and even tried to stimulate his anus doh.gif
that's why so happy to see him pee and poo in the litter box after we prepared for him. However was once poo on the floor maybe because of diarrhea. Sometimes poo near to the edge of litter box as well. But we are fine because no pee poo other than litter boxes.

Bought BW kitten to him after finished the RC 'Recovery' and he likes it very much. No wet food since then and texture of poo is ok and good flow. He did poo frequently (more than 6 times a day) during full wet food and therefore vet suggested to feed him only dry food during the 2nd vet visit.

For the first few days, we let him roam around if we at home and caged him during our outing. We monitored over a weekend to check his behavior and found out he was not happy with cage. He bite the cage, climbed up and down inside. However he did good outside the cage and thus we decided to let him free even no people at home. Cage is just for night sleeping time. For the past 2 weeks, he is totally OK! No mess and damage to the home.

Anyway, he is super active and playful. Likes to bite our foot and hands. i guest he is just too small to stay calm and chill. Brought a lot of laughter to us and we are happy with his presence happy.gif

Future plan, feed him well then get him vaccinated and will arrange neutering whenever the time is right. thumbup.gif

A kitten being a kitten. Good job!

When you got to work/outing and then return home, did he greet you at the door?  biggrin.gif

always wait near the door recently. First few days hide under cabinet.

thats what we are thinking. Now we are entertaining him 100% while he still playful. I believe when he grows older, he does not even bother to look at us.

Wah very detailed write up. The biting is normally because the kitten wasn't weaned off properly by the mother. My cat around 4 months now still like that. Dunno if it will ever stop... But controlled bite at least. Its always stressful to get a new kitten. But congrats and seems you both are having a lot of fun 😁
*
yeah so much fun. but foot and hands scratches a lot. Sometimes even bleed.
not sure when he will stop and soften the biting.

Went for 1st vaccination last Sat. Weight almost double compared to 2 weeks ago (currently weight around 850g).

Tapeworm found in stool and vet fed him tablet type deworming. Spray him Frontline on the furr as well.

Get a nail clipper for cat. I think RM10 or so at petstore. It helps hehe. But just clip the tip only. Can YouTube how. For the biting dunno will slow down or not. But I dukung my cat move her tail or feet around and she will bite them. so she know sakit. Lol. Some people say when cat bite you make a pain noise and they will learn that it hurts. I dunno.
*
yeah. thinking to get a nail clipper. So many around. but still hesitating as after trimmed, nail is still sharp.
a lot of noises made when he bites but still no sign of slowing down. i guess not applicable to all cats. hmm.gif
Sometimes we will wear winter glove and let him get use to it and now he will bite it when we toss to him.

yeah nail will still be sorta sharp, but wanna get rid of that super sharp tip that can hook onto stuff. sometimes hook onto your skin.

another way i've read is get a spray bottle of water. if the cat bite, then spray them. but i think better dont wear winter glove and play cause she will learn its ok to bite your hands.
*
even without glove, he still bite although i hit him softly sometimes. i guess he thinks it is so much fun biting my hand. Maybe he will loose his interest after we gave no feeling when he bites.

update after neutered

he reacted very fierce and frustrated during my collection at the Vet clinic. I guess he was so scared and helpless in the clinic (surrounded by barking dogs and different scent). Tears coming out from his eyes.
When the clinic helpers were trying to get him out from the cage, he was uncontrollable even me and my wife tried to comfort him. Experienced helpers covered him with few cloths and push him into the carrier.
Once he got into the carrier, he was still scared but no more fierce and silent all the way to the home. We dare not to touch him even transferred him to the cage (by just opened the carrier in the cage and he walked out from the carrier after awhile).

Well.....he was just behaved different in about 30minutes and back to normal after that. Of course he was not able to walk properly and we decided to let him in the cage for hours.

The next morning, surprisingly he was back to normal and already able to run here and there. We were so scared the wound will have problem. He is not the caged-type cat and put him inside the cage is like torturing him. He is now 100% OK even just had operation less than 48hrs hmm.gif

haha. thats good to hear. its pretty normal for them to go right back to their normal selves overnight from neutering. for females, it takes a bit longer and have to be a bit more delicate.
*
i was really surprised. This is actually the first pet of my own and i have no clue. Asked Vet to provide some precautions and to-do and what-if. Vet told me to keep him in the cage for 7 days! I strongly believe my kitten will rip the cage apart whenever he gets back his energy. devil.gif

The Vet just being cautious, whenever you are at home, you can let him run free as you are around to keep an eye out for the operation wound.. whenever you not around can keep him in the cage so that he don't hurt himself.. that I believe is the Vet intention...
*
i think the same too. Better to take care extra. He is now back to normal and the wound seems dried and should have no infection.

Actually i will cage him everyday during sleeping time because he always climb up and down in the middle of the night. Better cage him to get a good sleep for us and him.

As long as he's not climbing around and possibly opening the wound, he'll be okay. I don't cage my cats at all, but I made sure that whatever they wanted to jump on was low.
*
my cat still a kitten, 6-7months now. He is not jumping too high, usually less than 3fts (dining table height).

I personally would keep that to under 1ft, until fully healed.

i guess he is fine already. first 2 day will lick the wound once in a while but now no longer.

hey guys any recommendation on cheap places to neuter female cats? my cat reached 6 months already and my current vet quoted me rm300 and i just don't have that much to spend on my baby are there any places in kl/pj that is cheaper?
*
my female kitten around 6mths old just being neutered about 3 weeks ago. She is doing fine already right now.

I went to J-Avenue Vet near to Aeon Cheras Selatan. Paid less than RM300 with microchip implanted.
