Well, I ended up removing the stitches myself today. It kinda "have to" situation. One of the cats started to lick & pull the stitches last night. To prevent any injuries, I remove the stitches using clean scissors. Quite easy, the stitches removed easily & cleanly. biggrin.gif

Not a good idea, but oh well it's done. Should have gotten an E collar for your cat.

Let me tell you why you need a laser pointer for your cat:
1. Cats go crazy - Good exercise!
2. At night you can use it to point objects far far away and watch people freak out! laugh.gif

not all cats. Lol.
Mine kinda lose interest pretty quick.

u like bengal, najib likes ash, kor ming likes bsh, azeez likes maine coon..... no? same taste? same preference?

SPCA is already overflowing. Pretty sure you can find a Maine Coone in there somewhere. As for Bengals ... see below.

QUOTE(popper @ May 14 2015, 12:25 PM)
agreed with postenza10 , we do have different preference, some people can just simply adopt kitten/cat some just wanna buy what they love how their kitten exactly looks like.. such as bigger size cat like maine coon or scottish fold or long thick hair like persian, if there's any out there on the road got such stray kittens.. obviously we will adopt too.. it's not like we only loves particular cat.. we do love cats just we choose to keep the one we like the most with us? takkan semua pun mau adopt=.= well.. people do choose to spend their money differently
*
Malaysia already has an overpopulation of feral cats and you want to buy a breed of cat for what reason? You want to breed it? No? Then why? Yes? You want to contribute to the problem?

There are breed personality traits, but you say "I choose to keep the one we like the most". Okay. So why did you buy one when there are so many that need homes?

More status symbol bullshit.

I'm not stopping you, but I'm not going to say it's okay.

The best toys for cats are interactive toys .. the ones where you hold a stick and there's a toy at the end. The most highly recommended one is Da Bird - it's feathers at the end of a stick. My girls like that, but they really like the one with the mouse.

Da Bird: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/shopping...zDrzlk&usqp=CAY

The mouse: https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/shopping...UlWxSQ&usqp=CAY

A cheap toy is milk rings .. you know, the plastic ring around bottlenecks after you take the bottlecap off? The milk jug ones are quite big, and my cats really like that. Another option is pompoms. I have a bag of 40 that I got for Christmas because I found out that my cats LOVE the pompoms. Kinda like pingpong balls, but smaller, lighter, and furrier.

I've reverted back to using Orijen from Nutrience, almost 2-3 weeks back.
But nothing has changed.

My cat is an indoor cat, clean. She's active and plays a lot when we play with her.
I'm not too sure what other causes might be, besides food though. She was fine when fed with Orijen since the beginning, but her fur started dropping when I changed to Nutrience. And now having changed back to Orijen, the problem still persists hmm.gif

I'm not sure if cats in Malaysia shed in seasons, since there's only one season in Malaysia = hot, but it is possible. It's currently shedding season for my cats, so I've been brushing them a lot more.

When I first brought my DMH in last year, her fur was still short as she was a kitten. Now her fur seems to be long and thick, however she does shed fur, but not enough for me to justify that her fur is less thick. Well, yes, it is less thick but not so significant.

Not too sure if this has anything to do with weather though, especially since my cat is still active and her daily routine has always been the same.
Perhaps I should try out other shampoos? Or are they any vitamins that I can give her?
*
Shedding season does nothing to their behavior. They just shed a lot more fur.

EDIT: If it's not shedding season, and you haven't changed anything very recently, I don't think it's really anything to worry about. Cats and dogs ALWAYS shed.

I have an appointment for neutering a male cat this Monday. If you guys have any tips to share for pre & post-operative for me please share because this will be my first time neutering male cat. Thanks.

I'm aiming to neuter two males cat before Hari Raya.

complete healing will take about 10-14 days. Don't let them jump or run around too much. Get an E collar to prevent them licking the wound. A cage would keep them immobile. I personally didn't use a cage.

I'm planning to do that. Thanks.
Basically similar post-operative with female cats? I was hoping to transfer him to 3-storey cage one or two days after surgery. Do you think it's good idea? With my girls around a month ago, I kept them in small cages which basically limited their movement. The thing with my cats is that they don't sits quietly, always something to do & living in rural area, basically lots of insects they like to hunt & play. Cage kind of necessary in my situation to limit their movement & to help the wound healing properly. Thinking that with male cat, the incision is extremely small, I wonder whether transferring him to bigger cage one or two day after surgery is a good idea or not.

For males its not an issue actually. They can move around after the operation as usual. Just don't bathe them for 10 days.

Btw I'm the co-owner of Purradise Cat Cafe smile.gif

Both are allowed to move around. Just a matter of making sure the incision location doesn't tear open.

Would be interested to see its ingredient list then.
Rice is good for energy, but it should not make the bulk of their diet. If they're fine then they are likely getting more protein elsewhere. Maybe hunting the local rodents/birds or running around enough to burn off the rice they eat. When people talk about healthy cats and cats that live long, I find that people have different definitions of what is "healthy" and what's a long life for a cat.

For example an indoor cat lives an average life span of 12-15 years, some even get up to 20. While many outdoor cats pass on around the age of 8-9. Many even less. So many cats don't even live long enough for dietary problems to come into effect. High carb food has been found to be the biggest factor in feline diabetes.
Cats will hide pain and sickness to the best they can. It can be hard to detect problems in cats. Not saying that you're wrong or that your cats are unhealthy, but just be aware that they are rather resilient creatures that don't like to show weakness. For example, a symptom of feline diabetes is increased thirst/urination. Unless you're monitoring this properly, you wouldn't know if the symptom even exists.

It's all over the place because the pet food manufacturers are all over the place. Some people even resort to raw feeding because they want to be able to control what goes into their pets' diet. I'm in the camp of "whatever is working for your pet, with silky fur and good bowel movements, just keep doing what you're doing".

All of the cats back then are outdoors though. I remember at least one female cat (our cat) live around 10 years. I don't remember how long other cats live though.

So far I have not notice any changes in water intake or urination with my cats. Not much variations in the amount of clumping litter I removed everyday. My cats live indoor but the oldest did live indoor & outdoor for a while before finally indoor again.
I'm pretty much in the same camp. What really work for my cats is rice mixed with boiled fish. The results are good bowel movements & no vomiting. Since I'm a "modern" cat owner, I always prefer more balanced nutrient pet food of course. Basically at the beginning I feed my cats kibbles in the morning & rice mixed with boiled fish in the evening. However when I started to stay with kibbles for both meals, my cats started having diarrhoea & vomiting. I changed the pet food a couple of times, because I'm pretty committed to balanced nutrient pet food, until I found one that worked for all of my cats. And it does contain rice in the ingredient.

As for wet/canned food, I can't find one that worked for all of my cats though. A couple of my cats will have diarrhoea when I feed wet food though. I have no idea why is that.

I never have fur problem with my cats. Of course if I didn't sweep or vacuum the floor for a week, there will be some clumping furs under the furniture and on the carpets.

In my opinion, pet food contain corn & rice & even by-product not necessarily bad. All "good" food is expensive to many people, especially that adopted many cats though.
*
I don't think byproducts are bad. After all, in the wild, cats eat everything, even their prey's stomach contents.

I'm a raw feeder smile.gif Controlling what goes in is great, but the best part is the level of nutrition they get is pretty massive. When I transistioned my cat from wet to raw, her fur became silky smooth, incredible amount of energy, smaller poop that hardly smells, no odor in breath, etc.
*
My vet was just commenting on how soft my black cat is this morning, and I don't raw feed, so I'm not convinced by raw feeding being the best.

I did look into raw feeding, when I was planning on adopting my two girls, but in the end, I decided against it. A butcher is not readily available where I was and where I am now (yeah I wasn't gonna just get grocery store stuff lol). I must say I'm surprised there's no bad breath. No rancid bits of raw food in their mouths?

But yeah, whatever works for your cats.

I live in an apartment and I have two cats smile.gif

They don't cost as much as a child does, but you do have to be prepared for emergency vet visits and food and medication etc.

as far as I know, at least in the US, your pet can be carry-on with an additional pet fee. I personally would not put my pet in cargo.

QUOTE(pangke @ Jul 13 2015, 12:59 PM)
hello. i have a problem.
i observed that my cat is having difficulty breathing. she's always in sitting position and stays that way for a long time because if she lies down her breathing becomes more difficult. i feel so sorry for her because she can't even sleep well and has no appetite at all. i brought her to our local vet, vet told me she has mild fever and injected antibiotics and provided some dextrose. but still no improvement and seemed that my cat's condition got worse that's why i want another option from a different vet.
any of you guys have an idea what my cat's sickness is?
i'm still at work now but i can't stop worrying.
thanks in advance for any inputs.

How long has it been? You should wait at least a week to see results.
